Pastoral Care Council & Corps Council Meetings Monday 21st September
PCC at 6:15pm Corps Council at 7pm
This is me … 1. One of my all-time favourite pieces of scripture comes
from Isaiah 61:1-2. It talks about how we are empowered and anointed by the Holy Spirit to share the Good News, bring comfort to the broken-hearted, establish freedom for the captives, to reveal God’s immeasurable blessings and to bring the hope of social justice. Although I have paraphrased this scripture, it encapsulates everything I love about Christianity - Good News, comfort, freedom, blessings and justice. For me this verse gives me a sense of reassurance in life, knowing that God cares for this broken, complicated and beautiful world.
2. My favourite food is steak & Chips covered in peppercorn sauce.
3. My previous occupations have included: diesel pump attendant, dairy worker, delivery-driver for gold and platinum mines and a security guard.
4. My favourite TV programme is a toss-up between Top Gear and ‘Allo ‘Allo
5. In my spare time I like to play Guitar, listen to relaxing music and tinker with gadgets.
6. My favourite colour is turquoise. 7. My last holiday destination was to Cheddar Gorge. 8. If I had to name 3 blessings they would be : Ice-cream,
music & genuine friendships. 9. I chose to commit my life to Jesus at a fairly young age
because of the dramatic changes I saw in my parents when they became Christians. The change in them inspired me to investigate for myself what all the fuss was about. After reading numerous Christian books and listening to 90’s cassette tapes which shared life-changing testimonies from newly converted Christians; I decided to follow Jesus for myself. I have never regretted this wonderful decision.
10. My prayer is that people in my immediate community will be drawn to the presence of God, so that he can do a new thing in their lives. I pray for positive transformation, renewal and restoration in the lives of people in Great Britain.
In the July 19th edition of the Seasider “This is me” was …. Mandy Webb.
Did you guess correctly?
God’s Love to me is Wonderful God’s Love to me is wonderful,
though times I can’t express how much His love enfoldeth me,
my soul to richly bless.
God’s love to me is wonderful when birds sing out their song, His love is there in everyone, like them, I too, to him belong.
God’s love to me is wonderful, when though a child I’ve known,
how much He really cares for me, His love a little one has shown.
God’s love to me is wonderful, how can the tears not flow,
for in His love I’m safely kept while into the waters I go.
God’s love to me is wonderful, when all is quiet and still,
for in such precious moments my heart with beauty fills.
God’s love to me is wonderful, He speaks through chosen friends,
to raise the seeds he’s planted there, the warmth of love He sends.
God’s love to me is wonderful, how can I fail His call,
His love He simply gave for me, to Him I give my all.
(Thank you to Dorothy Huntbach for writing these beautiful words.)

Proverbs The following ten statements are long-winded versions of great proverbs. Can you tell what they are?
1. Fix something right away or it will get worse. 2. An over-abundance of culinary help is detrimental to the
pot’s contents. 3. Just because something is shiny, doesn’t mean it’s a
precious metal. 4. That which pleases the eye doesn’t go beyond the
epidermis. 5. The capital of Italy was constructed over a long period of
time. 6. There comes a time when your canine friend is through
studying. 7. If you’re going to give advice to others, be sure you follow it
yourself. 8. Just because you aren’t punctual doesn't mean you should
quit. 9. If you never try to do anything, you’ll never get anything
done. 10. It doesn’t take long for a person without good sense to be
separated from his financial assets.
See how many you can fathom out and I’ll provide the answers in the next edition of the Seasider!
