ROXUL’s SeaRox® Series of non-combustible marine stone wool products are designed for acoustic, comfort, thermal and fire protection in marine & offshore applications. SeaRox® pipe insulation products are designed for moisture intense applications such as steam and process pipes systems operating at temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C).
ROXUL focuses on Performance Driven Solutions which provides clarity and structure and easily helps you identify the right product for the right application.
Fire Resistant
The stone wool and recycled content combination in ROXUL’s marine & offshore insulations make these products non-combustible and fire resistant. These products are designed for operating temperatures up to 1200 °F (650 °C), withstanding the heat of up to 2150 °F (1177 °C) without melting. ROXUL marine & offshore insulations are excellent barriers to flame spread and critical lines of defence in fire control for personnel and equipment.
Noise Control
ROXUL mineral wool (stone wool) compositions have unique non-directional structures and densities to effectively reduce airflow and essentially, sound transmissions. These denser structures, coupled with tight joints, create effective barriers to pipe noise and contribute to much quieter, safer offshore and marine environments.
Water Repellent
The ROXUL marine & offshore product line does not absorb water or hold moisture. The dense stone wool based material naturally repels and drains water away from pipes without compromising R-value. These
products do not promote fungi, mildew, or bacteria growth and are chemically inert to eliminate corrosion.
Easy Installation
All ROXUL marine & offshore insulation is easy to handle on job sites. The products’ higher densities make them simple to cut with a serrated knife for clean straight edges providing a better fit at the point of installation. Quick and easy cutting means less waste and faster installation, which saves money on labor and lost production time. Quick and easy cutting also means fast and simple routine maintenance.

Thermal and Comfort InsulationThe requirements of the indoor climate and comfort have become more stringent during the recent years. The insulation constitutes an important factor of this, as it ensures obtaining the correct temperature – as comfort insulation.
The great advantage of the SeaRox® products is that the high level of thermal insulation can be combined with excellent noise reduction capabilities and often fire protection constructions will also act as thermal comfort insulation.
All SeaRox® products comply with IMO non-combustibility and reaction to fire requirements. Additionally the products have excellent water repellent properties and thermal stability, which is important as the product is often placed directly against the outer construction with changing temperatures.
1: Thermal insulation can be used alone where there is no other demand for the deck and bulkhead.
2: Thermal insulation can also be used together with fire insulation or sound insulation.
In all cases when insulating against cold temperatures the wool must always be covered by a vapor tight surface. This surface can be aluminum foil or another kind of vapor barrier. The gaps should be tightly sealed with alu tape.
When adding additional insulation to a fire construction it should be documented and approved by the local surveyor.
The most common way of expressing thermal properties is by using the following nomenclature:
n Coefficient of the Thermal Transmission (U-value)n Thermal Resistance (R)n Thermal Conductivity (λ)It is important to note that the l-value for any given material varies with temperature.
Thermal Conductivity (λ) measurements on ROXUL® insulation products (nominal values):

Environmentally Sustainable
Our stone wool production process utilizes some of the most advanced technology available. The last decade has seen a new generation of ROXUL manufacturing facilities that are designed to lower our environmental footprint. These endeavors have included the capture and recycle rainwater, reduction in energy consumption, and zero waste to landfill by the recycling of raw materials back into the production process. ROXUL facilities also use natural lighting and re-purpose water used during the manufacturing process to minimize the impact on the environment and surrounding community resources.
ROXUL insulation is created using naturally occurring, inorganic raw materials and reuses waste from other manufacturers as well as from our plants. Stone wool insulation is noncombustible and achieves its thermal performance without the use of blowing agents. The products therefore do not off-gas over time, contributing to a sustainable environment.
Each ROXUL plant uses a varying combination of new and recycled content in order to remain efficient and environmentally friendly. ROXUL is committed to improving our overall efficiencies which further solidifies our commitment to environmental stewardship within the organization.
