I am a respected design authority and have been asked to serve on national design juries. My work has won awards and has been seen in various design publications.

I was born and raised in Michigan, receiving my Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Michigan State University, and I

am NCIDQ Certified.  I began my career in the Chicago design community prior to relocating to the Pacific Northwest.

SOUNDEARTHSTRATEGIES SoundEarth Strategies, Inc., provides client-focused geologic and engineering consulting services on environmental and water supply projects. The driver for the project was the consolidation of two separate offices to support future growth and have the ability to hotel staff from their Denver, Colorado, and Portland, Oregon, offices.

The client wanted to provide an exceptional facility for their employees, which would aid in recruitment and retention and act as a showcase for various industry committee meetings and client tours. SES chose to adapt 11,000 RSF of an existing facility that was located on the shores of Lake Union, the heart of metropolitan Seattle, in a former Fish Canary/Warehouse, built in the 1940s. Design strategies included leaving most of the internal structure exposed, providing shared amenities and open spaces so that employees would have access to the views. The boardroom and lunchroom were co-located so that the two spaces could open up onto each other for all-staff functions and other large events. Work strategies included Private Office, Semi-Private Office and workstation solutions. A flexible system that could grow and adapt to users’ needs was selected. Sustainable materials were important throughout the design. Aside from a dramatic entry point that highlights fossil remains that had been found on various project assignments, the space was kept relatively minimal with subtle use of the company’s brand colors. The design respects the recently renovated original structure..

TVS DESIGNThis office expansion and redesign is responsive to the historic design covenants of Chicago’s Rookery Building. The overall concept embraces an open floor plan with glass walls offering transparency between spaces and views into the Rookery atrium. Gathering and group collaboration areas were integrated creating a fun, collaborative environment while still portraying the professionalism clients expect. To achieve LEED CI Gold certification in the Chicago office, 75% of the construction waste was diverted from entering a landfill. Other sustainable strategies for the space include:100% of the office’s energy usage is offset with renewable energy sources; Office is located within close proximity of public transportation; Water efficient fixtures; Storage and collection of recyclables; All equipment and appliances are Energy Star rated; All general work stations are located along building perimeter/atrium; Energy-efficient lighting – occupancy sensors and daylighting controls; All systems furniture and seating is Greenguard Certified; Specifying materials with recycled content, manufactured regionally, low VOC; Indoor air quality management plan.

WASHINGTON ATHLETIC CLUBWith the desire to recruit new members without alienating existing ones in an increasingly competitive marketplace, the WAC decided to upgrade core amenities in the Men’s and Women's Conditioning areas. Project challenges included the need to keep the facility fully operational 24/7. The design team, client team, and General Contractor worked very closely to develop a strategy of implementation that would still allow members full use of the facility.

CRNBCThe College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia desired to update their image. Over the years and through multiple renovations the facility had become disorganized with no unifying theme and did not embody the values of the organization. A comprehensive planning and visioning process resulted in a decision to implement a complete re-stack of the entire facility, locating all client-focused and public-facing services to the first floor, and shifting from large perimeter offices to small internal offices so that everyone will have access to daylight. Flexible work environments are distributed throughout the space.

THE PLATINE SALONThe look and feel for this Ballard neighborhood hair salon is one of quiet luxury, sophistication and style. Our design mission was to create a unique and distinctive space in which to provide excellent haircare. Custom millwork solutions hide messy cords and equipment, and a simple palette of blue and white define the space.

HBC&G PLLC

With their existing location up for sale and a change in executive staff imminent, HBC&G, an established Seattle accounting firm, wanted to relocate into a more urban location and Class A office space. The site selected on the shores of Lake Union provided exactly the amenities that they were looking for and after providing several test fit options to choose from within the building, they selected a suite on the 9th floor with views of the lake. Custom case work was an integral solution to incorporate various storage requirements. A central mail/server room/copy hub is easily accessible by all staff.

MARRIOTT MARQUISA reinvention of this 1,700 key atrium hotel was achieved by reactivating the 50-story atrium with new retail, restaurants and bars while also transforming underutilized spaces into revenue producing meeting rooms and a ballroom. This award winning renovation and expansion project reflects an integrated approach to hospitality architectural and interior design services. The project includes a dramatic and total transformation of all the major public and meeting spaces in the hotel. The highlight of the design includes a makeover of the existing 50 story signature atrium space with the addition of new retail, restaurants, and bars. The atrium conversion focused on creation of the dynamic and iconic sculptural forms in the "Pulse" bar and lounge which serves as the heart and hub of the hotel.

MIZUHOLocated adjacent to the World Trade Center, Mizuho Securities felt the effects of 9/11 firsthand and they immediately required new office space. Working as quickly as possible with the Mizuho executive team, we designed in a truly collaborative process. By projecting a computer screen onto a conference room wall in Mizuho’s temporary office, we created the space plans for the new workplace. We even began the schematic design sketches in the meeting. The result is a new 24-hour-a-day workplace, with a trading floor for 110 people. The office is complete with functional, comfortable worksettings, meeting spaces that overlook the action of the traders, and even a space for relaxing and entertaining clients, complete with a pool table and poker table.
