    4-1/2" x 1-1/2"A B1. With right sides together and using 1/4" seam, sewtogether Templates 5 along the long side of the triangle as shown (A). Press2. With right sides together and using 1/4" seam, sew the 4-1/2" x 1-1/2" strip to the top of this block as shown to the left.

    3. With right sides together, place a 2-1/2" square on the end of the 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip. Sewdiagonally across as shown (C). Clip off excess and press open. Repeat for the other end of the strip (D). Press.

    4. With right sides together and using a 1/4" seam, sew A and Btogether as shown to the left. Press.5. With right sides together and using a 1/4" seam, sew the sails to theblock from step 3. Press. Trim block to measure 8-1/2" x 8-1/2". 6. Used the templates for the flag and portholes to complete this blockwith your favorite applique technique.

    Create a total of 4 Sailboat blocks (two facing right and two facing left) for the Seagull Paradise Quilt. (To create the reverse sailboats, simply flip the templates over when cutting).

    Cut from Coordinating Fabrics(4 ea.) 4-1/2 squares (1 ea.) 2-1/2" x 18-1/2" strip(1 ea.) 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip

    1. With right sides together and using 1/4" seams,sew the 2-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip to two sailboat blocks as shown to the left (A). Press.2. With right sides together and using 1/4" seams,sew three of the Snail Trail blocks together (B). Press.3. With right sides together and using 1/4" seams,sew the three Snail Trail Blocks to the two Sailboat blocks. Press.4. With right sides together and using 1/4" seams,sew the 2-1/2" x 18-1/2" strip to the edge of the sailboat blocks (C). Press.5. With right sides together and using 1/4" seams,sew the 4 ea. 4-1/2" squares together. Press, and then sew to the top of the Snail Trail/Sailboat block.This filler block will now measure 16-1/2" x 22-1/2".

    The other 3 Snail Trail Blocks and 2 Sailboat blocks will be used for filling later in the quilt assembly. Set them aside for later.

    6. With right sides together and using 1/4"seams, sew the Seagull Block 1 to the Crab Block 2 as shown to the left. Press.

    7. With right sides together and using 1/4"seams, sew the filler block that you assembled in step 5 to the Seagull and Crab blocks as shown to the left. Press.
