It is approximately 8 miles long and 4 miles wide. A regular ferry service, taking less than 5 minutes, crosses Cuan Sound which connects Luing to the neighbouring Island of Seil and the famous Bridge over the Atlantic.

Luing benefits from a wide range of amenities & services, including a shop, primary school, post office, and church. The island is a haven for wildlife and offers excellent walking, fishing and sailing. It has its own ‘Skiff Club’ which organises regular events for locals and visitors. Enjoying a more sheltered aspect on Luing’s east coast, Toberonochy is popular for boating enthusiasts with its small harbour and moorings. The village has a community hall which regularly hosts a range of events, including ceilidhs, concerts, craft fairs and film nights. On Luing’s west coast is the village of Cullipool with the Island’s newly built heritage centre with museum and café. On the neighbouring Island of Seil is a medical practice, shop and 9-hole golf course. Once on Luing, follow the road south past the T junction signed Cullipool, continuing south to the village of Toberonochy. Seabank is on the left upon entering the village.
