The class Anthozoa contains sea anemones, animals that have only the polyp stage in their life circle.

The word anthozoa, which means “flower animal.”

Many species are colonial, or composed of many individual polyps.

Sea anemones are solitary polyps that live at all depths of the ocean.

They live under water where they absorb animals come close to them and they attack.

Sea Anemones have a central mouth called nematocysts.

Anthozoans reproduce sexually by producing eggs and sperm that are released into the water.

The Polyp stage usually sessile stage of the life cycle of a cnidarian that has a cylindrical body with arm like tentacles
