General SDR benefits
SDR support and enhances the flexibility in NBD(NCW, NEC, NNEC, NCO, NBF, Nxx, …)
Standardized SDR enables:Flexibility (space – time – cost)
Adaptable, Upgrade, Parallel, Concurrent, Radio Access
Gateway and Network capabilities
One HW for many purpose (lower weight, cost)
Portability between building blocksSeparate, vendor independent, reuse or upgrade of HW and SW block
Interoperability enabled communication

SDR for DefenceSome Facts
The military tactical radio market strive to offer multipurpose radio systems, based upon SCA compatible SDR
Europe’s defence LSI and radio manufacturers produce SDR HWSDR SW business and certification model is not defined
SDR will be and are used in commercial productsbut not according to SCA
FMV/SwAF has addressed that Sweden will only support National WF development, (i.e. not HW)
SDR WF development (including information assurance) is identified as a Swedish strategically niche
