Painted color toys are hardwoods or MDF. Finish is spray Krylon white primer and color glosses. Krylon brush-on Color Creations also works well. With paints apply 2 coats primer sanding each coat with 220 sandpaper when dry. Apply 3 coats color sanding with 400 sandpaper when dry. Apply final coat of Krylon Clear. All Krylon paints are non-toxic when dry.

This Commando is constructed from cherry hardwood finished with 4 coats of polyurethane clear gloss.First two coats sand with 220 grit sandpaper. Third coat sand with 400 grit sandpaper. Do not sand fourth coat.

Painted toys are built using MDF or fine-grained hardwoods. Finish is spray can Krylon white primer and color glosses. Krylon brush-on Color Creations also works well. Step 1 Assembly

2. Glue and clamp the two Step 1 Assemblies to the Part 1 Commando Helicopter fuselage. Refer to the full size Precision Line Orthographic drawings on pages 17 thru 19 for exact placement. Let the assembly dry before proceeding to Step 3.

1. Glue four Part 11’s to two Part 13’s. Glue two Part 12’s to two Part 11/13 assemblies. Glue three Part 11’s into holes in two Part 12’s. Let assembly dry thoroughly before proceeding to Step 2.

3. Glue one Part 9 to Step 2 Assembly Part 1. Glue two Part 9’s into Part 8. See Note A above. Slip Part 8 over the Part 9 glued to Part 1. Part 8 rotates freely on the Part 9. Glue the retainer Part 10 to the end of the Part 9 in Part 1 allowing Part 8 to rotate freely.

4. Assemble tilting canopy by first inserting one Part 4 in the forward 1/4” dia. hole in Part 1. This Part 4 rotates freely in Part 1. Slip and glue two Part 3’s over this Part 4, insert and glue the remaining three Part 4’s to the two Part 3’s allowing free rotation of the tilting canopy assembly in Part 1. Let dry before proceeding.

6. Insert and glue Part 5a into Step 5 Assembly. Slip Part 5 onto Part 5a. Part 5 rotates on Part 5a. Glue the remaining Part 6 onto Part 5a lightly against Part 5 allowing Part 5 to rotate freely.

5. Insert and glue Part 7 into Step 4 Assembly. Slip one Part 6 and Part 2 onto Part 7. Bottom Part 6 and 2 rotate on Part 7. Glue the remaining Part 6 onto Part 7 lightly against Part 2 allowing Part 2 to rotate freely. Proceed to Step 6.

The Commando Helicopter shown in the step-by-step instructions is shown in furniture grade Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF). All edges of the toy are rounded with 220 grit sandpaper to remove the sharp edges of every corner. Medium

Density Fiberboard is tough material and will make a toy that lasts a lifetime.The final finish is 3 coats of Krylon Triple Thick Clear sanded with 400 grit sandpaper between the first two coats and then not sanded on the last coat.
