Screen shots Magazine Production- Contents Page A step by step guide of how I achieved my final piece. 1.For my background I wanted to use a clean and contemporary style which would be easy for the viewer to read from. My original theme was to use effects which gave an appearance of liquidized metal. To create this look I used a stripe brush tool, uploaded from ‘psbrushes.net’. I then smudged the end of the brush to make the image appear to look as if its melting onto the Amp. The Amp image was collected from Google images and changed to black and white to apply with my style.

Screen shots Magazine Production- Contents PageA step by step guide of how I achieved my final piece.

2. This is the effect I achieved using the smudge tool. When applying this effect to my image, I ensured that the opacity wasn’t too high, otherwise my intended water effect wouldn’t work. After I done this, I used an artistic filter (plastic wrap) to give it a 3d and liquidized affect. I then repeated this effect at the bottom of the page (below the Amp). I then added small circles from my brush tools to give it the appearance of guitar strings to fit in with my genre and style.

3. Following my front cover designs and colours, I used blocks of rectangles (shapes tool) to be put behind my text. This gave my page more colour and helped incorporate the house style within my magazine. I made the boxes different sizes giving depth to my design and also made the page more interesting and detailed.

4. After putting in the blocks of colour, I added in the editors note and page references. I made the text on the page info, smaller and bigger according to the size of the boxes originally laid out to give the page more detail. For the contents text I used a font from ‘dafont.com’ and placed it above the title box. I used a different font to show a varied style on the page using one that would fit into my design. The silhouette I used was an image from Google originally of a band member showing facial features and clothing, as I didn’t want to include this I used a colour overlay on the image turning it

black and giving the silhouette effect. 5. When completing the editor note, I included I photograph of myself, adding personalisation to the page. In order to keep the style consistent I used a black and white application and then tinted the colour to make the photograph appear sepia toned. I then used the same brush tool from my front cover next to the page articles which would be the base setting for my page numbers. To add colour I used a gradient tool to the brush, giving it a rainbow effect.

6. When adding the page numbers I made sure the brushes didn’t cover them. I done this by adjusting the stroke sizes on the brush making it clear for the viewer to see. As I didn’t want the text to look too busy I used a plain colour and font to contrast with the bush.
