Screen Pass DVD - regular updates ensure proper protection
The success story of Screen Pass DVD is
updating the protection schema on a regular
basis
• Screen Pass triggered several hundred rip tool
updates since the protection exists
• A small number of commercial rip tools (like
AnyDVD) is capable of reacting on the protection
updates
• All free rip tools gave up – as most people who try
to consume movies for free also don‘t want to pay
for rip tool software they usually try using the free
tools (like DVD Shrink) to create copies
• No other DRM provider can compete with this
regular updating of the DRM resulting in failing
copy attempts
7 18.07.2012
Screen Pass is a marketing tool for tapping into the
potential of people trying to consume your title for free
• Legitimate buyers of the genuine disc experienced an unaffected, proper
playback
• The Screen Pass implementation triggers a disclaimer when trying to start the
main feature on a copied disc

Several Internet piracy releases were disrupted by Screen
Pass leading to free spoofing in various piracy channels
• Internet pirates failed on extracting the proper main movie from the Blu-ray
resulting in disrupted piracy scene releases 2 weeks prior street date
• This happened for several attempts over the period of 2 weeks like:
• Good.Deeds.2012.720p.BluRay.x264-REFiNED
• Good.Deeds.2012.BDRip.XviD-NeDiVx
• Good.Deeds.2012.BRRip.XviD-KAZAN
• Good.Deeds.2012.720p.BluRay.x264.DTS-HDChina
