Scott M. Anthony

Youth Minister, Speaker, Retreat

Leader and Author Scott is a 48-year-old na-

tive of Cleveland, OH and has been involved with Catholic youth and family ministry for 28 years. He is his 25th year as the Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries at St. Joseph Parish in York, PA. He holds a BA in History from New Mexico State University and attended Franciscan University of Steubenville for two years after 12 years of parochial schools in War-renton, Virginia and Steubenville, Ohio.

Scott has conducted thou-sands of retreats, presentations, parish missions and youth ministry trainings at parishes and schools in more than 35 arch/dioceses across the United States. He combines humor and real life stories to connect with his audience while drawing them deeper into the beautiful Truths of our Faith. His goal is to help open the hearts of people to the love and mercy of Jesus Christ.

Scott has been married for 26 years to his beautiful bride Teresa and they have eight children on earth: Mary Kate, Cecilia, John Paul, Max, Rose, Benedict, Joseph and Lucy (and three in heaven: Dominic, Regina and Sebastian). In 2003, Scott won an award as the “Most Unique Dad of York County (PA)” by WOYK radio, the only award he has ever received that meant anything to him. Scott loves teens and will do almost anything to bring them closer to Jesus including "chunky" ballet dancing, box beating (NOT beat boxing), and/or British Slam Poetry. His favorite cheese is Swiss because it is Catholic (it’s “holey”). He has been de-scribed as both the “Chuck Norris of youth ministry” and a “youth ministry ninja” by people way more funny and talented than he could hope to ever become.

Chaperone Guidelines: We hope the Rally will be a posi-tive experience for everyone. These guidelines should help make your own ministry as a chaperone and our entire Rally experience enjoyable and safe for all. ALL participants are expected to attend ALL Rally activities. We require each parish to send at least one (1) adult chaperone for every seven (7) boys or girls under 18 in your group. All chaperones must have fulfilled the Diocese of Colorado Springs Safe Environ-ment requirements. BE WITH YOUR GROUP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE UNLESS YOU ARE ATTENDING YOUR OWN WORKSHOP EXPERI-ENCE. During general sessions, liturgy and meals, please sit with your group if possible. During any free time, you are expected to know the whereabouts of your youth. Please pay close attention to the needs and behavior of the youth entrusted to your care. If a situa-tion arises that requires adult su-pervision of youth you are not re-sponsible for, please contact that young person’s Youth Minister/Leader or the Diocesan Staff. REMEMEBER THAT WE ALL REPRESENT THE CHURCH. The diocesan staff will assist in what-ever way we can, but the PRIMA-RY RESPONSIBILITY LAYS WITH THE YOUTH AND THEIR YOUTH MINISTERS AND CHAP-ERONES AT ALL TIMES. You are a role model for these youth. Please present a positive

image by your actions as well as your words. While serving as a chaperone for the Rally, please refrain from all alcohol, tobacco and/or drug use. If problems arise that cannot be satisfactorily resolved for the good of all by the persons in-volved, the diocesan staff re-serves the right to sent partici-pants home before the end of the Rally. Arrangements and ex-penses for such will be sustained by the individual involved. We strongly suggest that the Parish Youth Minister/Leader give a list of the youth partici-pants to the chaperones before-hand so they will know who they are responsible for, including di-rections for whom to contact in case of emergency or other needs. Parking…. There is sufficient parking at the Colorado Springs Great Wolf Lodge for all vehicles. All adult participants are discouraged from using their vehicles during the weekend other than for im-mediate Rally-related transporta-tion. It is the responsibility of each parish to obtain proper driv-er liability forms required. For further information or assis-tance before the Rally, contact your Parish Youth Minister/Leader or the Diocesan Staff.
