Welcome to the Jungle: 4-H Camp 2019 Scott County 4-H took 152 campers, 18 adult counselors, and 9 junior counselors to 4-H Camp
at North Central this year. Our theme was Jungle Safari, and everyone had a great week! Campers took classes, played games, swam in the pool, tried new things, made new friends, and
went several rounds of Sally Down the Alley.
Thank you to all of our wonderful campers, volunteers, and parents! We can’t wait until next year. We try to have camp registration available in January, so be on the lookout!

Wednesday, August 21 — Sheep Showmanship; Market Goat Show; Novice and Market Lamb Show, Breeding Heifer Showmanship; Youth Crossbred Market Class (Hog); Beef Market Animal Show
Thursday, August 22 — Heifer Show; Swine Showmanship; Breeding Gilt Show, Championship Drive
Friday, August 23 — Science Engineering and Technology Showcase
Saturday, August 24 — Sewing Skill-a-thon
The 4-H Showcase will be open during certain times on the following days: August 1 5, 1 7-23, 25
*Please note that competition in all of these events requires meeting certain requirements and deadlines. However, you are welcome to attend these events as a spectator and we encourage you to check out Cloverville to see all the 4-H showcases.

Shooting Sports Enrollment begins in September. Please make sure you include shooting sports on the enroll-ment form if turning in paper form. If enrolling online, please make sure to select shooting sports in the club section of the process.
From January 6th to February 14th, an online link will be sent (by email) to all the currently en-rolled members of shooting sports. You will follow the links instructions to sign up for a discipline. If you do not enroll in 4-H, you will not receive the link to complete the registration process. Calling All Cooks to the Kitchen!
Scott County 4-H is looking for adult volunteers to assist with a new 4-H Cooking Club. All volunteers must complete a background check and fill out volunteer paperwork for Scott County 4-H.

C L U B S
PROJECT GROUPS 4-H Adventure Program
This group’s goal is to be active and explore various
places around Kentucky while learning tricks about
camping and survival. (Ages 9-18)
Rabbit Club Members will learn about rabbit care, upkeep,
and showmanship. Youth do not have to have a
rabbit to participate.
(Ages 5-18)
Saddle Blankets
Members focus on horse care and showmanship. (Ages 9-18)
Neigh Team
Lessons will focus on horse care, riding, and
showmanship (Ages 9-18)
Livestock Club
Includes the following species: goat, sheep,
swine, beef. This club meets once per month
with additional learning opportunities provided.
(Ages 9-18; youth 5-8 are considered novice and may show goat/sheep/swine only)
Skillathon and Livestock Judging: separate
teams that are offered.
Homeschool Club
Members will receive lessons based on 4-H
curriculum in addition to opportunities for
community service and leadership.
(Ages 5-18)
Shooting Sports
Archery, air rifle/pistol, 22 rifle/pistol, BB and
trap are offered. You do not need to provide your
own equipment. See the inside of this newsletter
for more information about enrollment. (Ages 9-18)
Teen Leadership Club Middle and high school students meet weekly to
focus on leadership and community service.
Dog Club
This club focuses on command training and
showmanship. Youth must have a dog which
must be evaluated by the club leader before they
are allowed to participate. (Ages 9-18)
Country Ham
Members will receive hams to cure, attend ham cleaning meetings, and compete in a speech contest at
the KY State Fair.
(Ages 9-18)
4-H Sewing, Knitting, and Crochet
You can participate in one or more of these project
groups. New members will learn basic skills which they can build on as they progress through the different
levels. Each year, members can showcase their
projects at the county Fashion Revue.
(Ages 9-18)
4-H Photography
This project group will focus on basic skills
necessary to becoming a better photographer.
(Ages 9-18)
Cloverbuds
This group focuses on fun projects that include
educational activities, science experiments, and
crafts. Members often make projects that they can
enter in the county fair. If you are interested in this
group, please be sure to enroll in 4-H and list Cloverbuds as an activity. Contact Sarah at

Mark Your Calendars: Enroll in 4-H for 2019-2020! September is the month to re-enroll in 4-H. It is mandatory that everyone involved in 4-H re-enroll each year. Beginning this year, we will be able to offer online enrollment. We will send out more information about this option as soon as possible. Take a look at the following clubs and project groups offered for 2019-2020. Most clubs and project groups meet once per month, and they resume meeting in September. Check the September newsletter for meeting dates and times and for descriptions of any new clubs and project groups. Please contact us with any questions!
Poultry Club
Members will learn about poultry care, upkeep, and showmanship.
