Golf in Scotland Golf in Scotland was first played over 600 years ago; it is why Scotland earned the title “The Home of Golf”. Anyone who plays golf to whatever standard should make the pilgrimage to play one if not many of these great Scottish links courses. The experience will certainly be memorable, Scotland is the heart and soul of golf and the feeling of joy and reverence while walking down these hallowed fairways full of history and tradition will linger with you forever. As you stand on the Swilken Bridge looking up the 18

th fairway at St. Andrews remembering all the games greatest figures

who have gone before you, Morris, Baird, Vardon, Jones, Snead, Hogan, Palmer, Nicklaus, Watson, Ballesteros and Woods, you too will feel that slow tingle of excitement and slight shake of the hands, you are now home. Scotland has over 500 golf courses, many of which are well known internationally but there are more – many more – excellent quality courses, often of championship standard and historical significance, just waiting to be discovered and savored by the discerning golfer. West Coast Courses: Turnberry Ailsa & Kintyre, Royal Troon, Western Gailes, Glasgow Gailes, Prestwick, Dundonald, Machrihanish and Machrihanish Dunes. East Coast Courses: St. Andrews Old, New, Jubilee & Castle courses, Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, Dukes, Crail, Torrance, Panmure, Lundin, Ladybank, Rosemont, Montrose and Monifeth. Edinburgh Courses: Muirfield, North Berwick, Gullane No. 1 & 2, Dunbar and Archerfield. Northern Courses: Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Castle Stuart, Brora, Moray, Tain, Cruden Bay, Murcar, Golspie, Trump Scotland and Royal Aberdeen. Central Courses: Gleneagles Kings, Queens and PGA. For 34 spectacular years, SGH has been arranging Scotland golf vacations. We provide you with a wide variety of golf vacation packages using small, family run bed and breakfasts, to full service five star world-class hotel resorts along with your choice of some of the finest links golf courses in the world. Each tour is intended to provide you with a greater knowledge and understanding of Scotland and its heritage. The best time to travel to Scotland is May to September; please note September is a very busy month as a lot of the courses have local member competitions. There are some cost savings to be had in April and October. SGH Golf will customize your vacation, sales meeting or incentive trip to meet your specific needs and budget. We look forward to making your next golf trip one you will always remember.

BOOKING TEE TIMES AT ST. ANDREWS OLD COURSE

This brief outline will help explain the different methods that can be used to obtain a tee time on the St. Andrews Old Course. Please note that No travel company can positively confirm a specific Old Course tee time until October/November of the year prior to your travel dates. Option #1 - Advanced Application: This is the most straightforward and cost effective way of obtaining a guaranteed tee time on the Old Course. The Links Trust of St. Andrews will start accepting applications for 2015 tee times Wednesday, August 26 – Monday, September 14, 2015. SGH Golf will walk you through every step of the process. Accepted applicants will be notified directly by the Links Trust if they were successful within 8 weeks. Please note that there is a two course requirement using this method. Tee times for September are not available via this method. As of 2015 the Links Trust has introduced a lottery to determine those successful in applying for tee times in the Advance Reservations Process. It is no longer a first come first serve. Option #2 – Golf Tour Operators/ Local Hotels: Some tour operators and local hotels have allocations of guaranteed tee times for the Old Course. SGH Golf are usually sold out of these tee times by the end of 2015, there is usually a premium on these times the amount of which can vary but is usually around $200.00 to $600.00 more per golfer than the advanced application. A second St Andrews course is included in this method. Option #3 – The Ballot (Lottery): Approximately 50% of Old Course starting times are not allocated to advance starting times but are allocated via the ballot (source – St. Andrews Links Trust). Many visitors take advantage of this method of playing the Old Course. With a properly designed golf tour staying three to four days in St Andrews your odds of receiving a starting time via the ballot system are good. Not a guaranteed tee time. (Please see The Old Course Tee Sheet below)

Our Scotland office handles all of the details of entering your names for the ballot. The daily ballot or lottery is drawn 48

hours in advance at 2:00 pm for play 48 hours later. On Thursday afternoon there is over 30 ballot tee times available and on

Saturday there is over 60 ballot tee times available, all the tee times on both Thursday afternoon and all day Saturday are

reserved for the ballot.

Option #4 – The Old Course Experience: SGH Golf can buy packages at wholesale rates from the Old Course Experience. These packages include a three or four night hotel stay in St Andrews along with a guaranteed Old course tee time and golf at two or three other local courses. These packages require a minimum of two golfers; the total cost is about $900.00 to $1,250.00 more per golfer than a package using the advanced application or Ballot options.

Option #5 - Standing By: There are normally between 12 and 30 spaces on the Old Course each day that the starter will fill in with walk on players. Any two or three ball will be filled in to make it a four ball, any golfer wanting to walk on will need to report to the starter on the day they wish to play and are filled in according to when the arrived at the starters box. Success depends on the time of year and how early you arrive to get in line, there is no additional cost using this method but this is not a guaranteed tee time. (Please see The Old Course Tee Sheet below)

*****************************************

SGH clients who obtain a St Andrews Old Course tee time through the advanced application process will have to pay the green fees directly to St Andrews for the two courses booked. The Old Course and New or Jubilee is £245, the Old Course and Castle Course is £290, these green fees are included in our proposed itinerary price in order to reflect a true and accurate cost of the entire trip. Once all of your golf and hotel reservations have been confirmed we will send you a confirmed itinerary with the new tour price reflecting the payment of the St Andrews green fees. Requirements to play the Old Course: The maximum handicap for play on the Old Course is 24 for men and 36 for ladies. You must have an official handicap card (USGA or equivalent) to play the Old Course. The Old Course is closed every Sunday and at different times during the 2015 season including but not limited to: May 2

Scotland Golf Courses

Boat of Garten Golf Club

Brora Golf Club

Carnoustie Golf Links

Castle Stuart Golf Club

Brora presents all the attributes of the Scottish seaside links, there is bent and gorse, juniper and thyme in profusion. The layout is classic and will ensure that you can use every club in the bag and that you will have to adapt and manufacture according to whether the course is running fast or slow. The greens are renowned for their texture and the ball runs true on the seaside fescue.

Regarded by many including Walter Hagen and Gary Player, as one of the best links courses in the world, Carnoustie, though certainly long, is not a course for the unthinking big-hitter. With judgment of wind and distance critical, every tee shot needs careful placement to set up an approach to the green. Whilst there may be little dramatic background scenery, the beauty of Carnoustie is to be found in the golf course itself. The layout is such that no two consecutive holes face the same direction, a factor that does nothing for the golfer in finding their rhythm in the face of often-stiff winds. Carnoustie's famous burns that snake their way around the course - Jockie's Burn and the Barry Burn, represent two more obstacles to posting a respectable score.

Rightly billed as the golf course that every single Scottish golfer should play, 'The Boat', as it is known, is very much worthy of its lofty status. Make no mistake, this course can show its teeth to event most talented player. Sitting amongst the woods below the Cairngorms, with the River Spey visible from a number of holes, and the Strathspey Steam Railway running through the trees alongside the first seven, this course enjoys a truly majestic setting. Subtle alterations have been made to James Braid's original design, but the tough, yet incredibly inviting challenge of this Highland gems still remains.

Located in the Scottish Highland’s capital of Inverness and developed by Mark Parsinen, who created Kingsbarns Golf Links in St. Andrews, Castle Stuart is another modern links with its own twist on Scotland's centuries-old game. Castle Stuart has been conceived specifically for the Highlands, the course is abundant in both breath-taking views and challenging holes. The Castle Stuart Golf Links is both beautiful and balanced- offering a special round for every golfer.

Crail Balcomie

Cruden Bay Golf Club

Dukes Course

Dunbar Golf Club

Crail Golfing Society celebrated their 225th anniversary in 2011. Crail Balcomie,

designed by the great Old Tom Morris, is commonly known as the Prince of Scottish Links- a name it rightfully deserves. The first tee gives a fantastic view of the entire course, which is made all the more stunning by the hilly ground it covers -- an unusual feature for the typically flat topography of most links. The links march up and down the North Sea, which produces huge winds- a factor to be reckoned with almost every day. But there is also a beach, meandering streams and a whole assortment of devilish hazards that are a challenge to players of every level. Graced with an elegant beauty and excellent design, all golfers will delight in the discovery of one of Scotland’s greatest unsung heroes.

Designed by Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews, and opened in 1899, Cruden Bay offers an internationally famous golfing experience – old fashioned links golf at its best – on one of the best links courses in Scotland. Last year Cruden Bay was placed at No. 52 in the world by “Golf Magazine”. Cruden Bay Golf Course creates unique challenges demanding the skills of power, placement and fine judgment upon the discerning golfer. Set against a backdrop of subtly contoured greens and magnificent panoramic views, a visit to Cruden Bay will be a most memorable one.

With a spectacular setting above St Andrews, the championship Duke's gives magnificent panoramic views over the surrounding countryside to the sea. Duke's is highly regarded as one of the finest heathland championship courses in the British Isles and a 'must play' course for any golfer. Its style ranks alongside the great inland challenges which demand accuracy and inventive play as well as power golf. And with five separate tee positions at every hole, Duke's has the flexibility and challenge to appeal to golfers at every level.

Designed by Old Tom Morris around 1850, Dunbar East links, situated on the estuary of the Firth of Forth, is a breathtaking layout of a championship links course that stretches across 6,404 yards of coastal terrain. All of the major Scottish Championships have been played here: The Scottish Amateur; Professional Championship and Scottish Boys’ Championship, and it has been used as an Open qualifier on several occasions. It’s situated on a narrow strip of land, which follow the contours of a rocky exposed beach, and bordered on the other side by the Old Deer Park wall making it a challenging course for all levels of players.

Dundonald Golf Club

Fairmont Kittocks

Fairmont Torrance

Glasgow Gailes Golf Club

The newest addition to Loch Lomond Golf Club is Dundonald. Designed by Kyle Phillips, one of the game’s top architects, it has been recognized as one of the best new courses in the world (Robb Report 2004). Situated by the sea near the legendary town of Troon, Dundonald’s soil and climate conditions make the course suitable for year-round play. “My desire was to create a championship Ayrshire-style links course that felt and played as though it was an old rediscovered course, by integrating newly constructed features with existing site features,” said Kyle Phillips, course designer.

Glasgow Gailes course is owned and managed by Glasgow Golf Club, the 9th oldest golf club in the world. Less than an hour from Glasgow, Gailes is a challenging links course – tough and traditionally Scottish – consistently selected by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews as a final qualifying venue for the Open Championship. Gailes lies in the heart of Scotland’s Ayrshire Golf coast. The Clubhouse and facilities offer an ideal venue for enjoyable golfing including an extensive practice area, a Professional’s shop and high quality catering.

Kittocks name is taken from the SSSI area of land on the course that is inhabited by a family of deer. This protected area comes into view on several holes and provides abundant wildlife to be seen during a round on Kittocks, including pheasants, rabbits and hares, deer, grouse and badgers. The coastal land the course is built on reminded the legendary golfer, Gene Sarazen, of Pebble Beach when he first visited the site as one of the course's original architects. Kittocks re-designed courses are worthy of their accolades including being named 18th Best Golf Resort in the World by Conde Nast Traveler.

The Fairmont St Andrews Torrance Course was designed by Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance and opened in 2001. It sits on the Kinkell Braes above the town of St Andrews with fantastic views across St Andrews Bay. The course has held several events including the Scottish Seniors Open and was a qualifying course for the 2010 Open Championship.

Gleneagles- Kings Course

Gleneagles- PGA Centenary Course

Gleneagles- Queens

Gullane No. 1

The King’s Course, opened in 1919, is a masterpiece of design which has tested the aristocracy of golf, both professional and amateur. When Lee Trevino first played the King’s he memorably remarked; “If Heaven is as good as this, I sure hope they have some tee times left.” Selecting the right club for each approach shot is the secret on the King’s. It is certainly one of the most beautiful and exhilarating places to play golf in the world.

Gullane Golf Club was founded in 1882. The golf courses here, of which there are three, are linked as one. It offers championship quality links courses with dramatic views across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh and Fife. The 3rd hole was recently voted one of the top 500 holes in the world by Golf Magazine (USA). The world famous view from the highest point of the Course on the 7th tee across the course and over to Edinburgh, Fife, and way beyond, is worth the green fee alone. With every hole having its own distinct character, the course is both memorable and enjoyable.

Threading through high ridges on the north and west sides of the estate, the Queen's offers lovely woodland settings, lochans and ditches as water hazards, as well as many moorland characteristics. At 5,192 yards long, the challenge of the first nine can be deceptive, with even some of the best players finding it a test to make par into a fresh southwesterly breeze. In its long history, it has played host to some of the world's golfing greats. The beautiful settings and the challenge of the golf have attracted many top golfers.

The PGA Centenary Course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, is a modern classic, combining the best of both earlier designs. Even for a champion and acclaimed golf architect like Nicklaus, The PGA Centenary Course was a challenge. A feature of The PGA Centenary Course is the feast of views of the spectacular countryside in which Gleneagles is set. Putting on the two-tier second green, you are distracted by the lush panorama of the rich Perthshire straths. The PGA Course will host the 2014 Ryder Cup.

Gullane No. 2

Kingsbarns Golf Club

Leven Links

Loch Lomond Golf Club

Gullane No.2 Course was built in 1898 and the first and last holes of the course are on the east side of the road. The Course runs alongside Gullane No.1 for the first seven holes and then sweeps down to the nature reserve next to Aberlady Bay, before turning back towards the Visitors' Clubhouse. One feature of the Course is its excellent short holes, particularly the 11th with its magnificent view and tricky club selection.

Located directly on the North Sea coast only six miles from St. Andrews, Kingsbarns is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking links courses ever developed. Kingsbarns Golf Links is a real one of a kind and a contrast with Scotland’s other famous links courses in that it is a new, man-made development. The sea figures prominently on every hole and one's senses are continually pricked with the sights, sounds and smells of the ocean spray. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll and twist through majestic dune ridges and hollows, while its large inviting greens present the golfer with subtle challenges.

Nestled alongside the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond is a parkland treasure that has come to be known as Loch Lomond Golf Club. A private club for the exclusive use of its members and their guests, Loch Lomond sits on the historic Clan Colquhoun estate, which is steeped in Scottish tradition dating back to the 12th century. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, the golf course is currently ranked 44th in the top 100 courses in the world.

During the 2000 Open at St. Andrews, the Leven championship course was used as one of the four final pre-qualifying courses. As well as boasting the 11

th oldest golf

club in the world, The Leven Golfing Society, gifted by the company in 1870, lays claim to the title of "The Oldest Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship in the World". A true sea-side course - the editor of Golf Monthly described the older part of the Leven Links as 'being one of the best stands of Bent and Fescues in Scotland'.

Lundin Links Golf Club

Machrihanish Golf Club

Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club

Moray Golf Club

Lundin Golf Club, near to St Andrews the 'Home of Golf', is well known throughout the golfing world as a course of rare quality. Founded in 1868, on a Tom Morris course it was extensively redesigned by five times Open Champion James Braid in 1909. Fine links fairways and excellent greens have ensured that it has been regularly selected as a final qualifying golf course for the Open Championship. Narrow fairways, bunkers, burns, and ever-changing winds guarantee a testing but rewarding golfing experience.

Machrihanish has become well known in the last few years mainly because of its exceptional first hole which requires the round's opening shot to carry the Atlantic. It is a tough start, particularly into a breeze. The course is set in wonderful dunes in the small village of Machrihanish, which is situated on the western side of the remote Kintyre Peninsula; this is where the sky is big, the sunsets are dramatic and the air has been warmed by the Gulf Stream and its relative inaccessibility has saved it from becoming more commercialised. It is a joy to play and, most of the time, very quiet, allowing the visitor to relish the ups and downs of the fairways and the tussle with undulating greens. There are also arresting views across to the islands of Jura and Islay, which provide a delightful backdrop on an idyllic summer’s day with the firm Machrihanish turf underfoot, the majesty of the dunes, and wheeling seabirds providing the only sound. It is a varied test for the competent golfer, the layout is not just a predictable nine out, and nine back.

The ancient realm of Moray offers a wide choice of golf and its premier course is undoubtably Moray Old. The wide expanse of gorse encrusted links, between the town of Lossie and the Cove sea lighthouse, has proved ideal for the game and planted within it are two of the best courses on the Moray coast. On the old course the 1st and 18th are set next to the town, although the outlying holes zigzag more than the traditional links, nine out nine back configurations. Moray old provides perhaps the best finishing holes in Scotland, an impressive par four at 423 yards.

Machrihanish Dunes Golf Club is the first golf course to be have been built on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSi) since the days of "Old Tom" himself. It is also the first 18-hole links golf course to be built on the west coast of Scotland in 100 years. Set hard against the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Machrihanish Dunes shares breathtaking views with the adjacent Machrihanish Golf Club links (ranked 39th by Golf Digest's "Top 100 Courses Outside the U.S." in 2008).

Muirfield Golf Course

Nairn Golf Club

North Berwick Golf Club

Panmure Golf Club

Handicap Limit – Men: 18, Ladies: 20. Muirfield is the home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers and is the most exclusive golf club in the U.K. Founded in 1744, the existing course is designed in two loops of nine holes. Players have a constantly changing battle with the wind, and the beautifully constructed bunkers (over 150 in total), which never allow a bad shot to escape, are a great feature of the course.

Measuring 6317 yards, it’s no monster in length, but such is its trickery that it demands a full repertoire of shot making. Founded in 1832, the club is one of the oldest in the world. Former Prime Minister, Lord Balfour, was captain here in 1891-92. Every hole is memorable - there are blind shots across the bay, and bunkers in which you can disappear from sight. It is great fun and a real test of skill.

This Traditional Scottish Golf Links Course was created on the shores of the Moray Firth from a Highland wilderness of whins and heather, and tests the talents of professional and amateur alike. Founded in 1887, it is now one of the best courses in Scotland, and hosted the 1999 Walker Cup. The configuration of Nairn is such that the course gets progressively more difficult as you go round. This makes it a very difficult course to score on. Good scores just gradually peter out as you hit the dangerous homeward stretch.

Located in between Carnoustie and Dundee, Panmure has often been used as an Open Championship qualifying course. It is located in an area whose golfing pedigree is rich. Its main features being curiously looking hillocks, resembling inflated beehives, hardly qualifying as dunes but very similar in nature, and their bite can be equally as venomous with a helping of heather mixed in.

Prestwick Golf Club

Renaissance Club

Royal Aberdeen Golf Club

Royal Dornoch

Founded in 1851, the setting for the very first Open, this is one of the best known and most distinguished clubs in Scotland. The Club is situated just half an hour south west of Glasgow on the famous Ayrshire coast, a stretch of land unequalled anywhere in the world for prime golfing terrain. Prestwick is every sense a true seaside course with traditional links turf.

Originally laid out in 1891 by Old Tom Morris the course received a slight makeover from John Sutherland, the club's secretary. It is one of the finest links courses in the world and regularly features in the top ten of best course listings. At just over 6,500 yards it is not too long compared to modern layouts but still presents a mighty challenge regardless. It is bordered by the Dornoch Firth and exhibits rolling fairways and small saucer-like greens. Royal Dornoch is a favorite of former Open champion Tom Watson, who said: "It was the most fun I've had playing golf in my whole life."

Set alongside a picturesque shoreline featuring sweeping sand dunes, Royal Aberdeen is a highly rated traditional links course. Possessing many eye-catching features, most notably the quality of the opening and closing holes, it boasts a balance of long and short par 4's, testing par 3's and tricky par 5's, which due to wind speed and direction, play differently each day. Royal Aberdeen is ranked as the sixth oldest club in the world.

Renaissance Club provides an incredible golfing experience from the hands of Mother Nature and minimalist golf course architect Tom Doak. To stand on the holes viewing the Firth of Forth is breathtaking and reminiscent of the golf games of yesteryear. The Renaissance Club golf course has been designed and routed by Tom Doak and his team at Renaissance Golf, Inc. Tom’s design work is known across the world, and he has a leading reputation for building courses on great sites like Archerfield. He has been named Golf Architect of the Year and several of his courses are now ranked among the world’s very best, most notably Pacific Dunes in Bandon, Oregon.

Royal Troon Golf Club

Scotscraig Golf Course

St. Andrews Castle

St. Andrews Jubilee Course

Frequent host to the British Open, Royal Troon is consistently ranked as one of the World's best links courses. It was created by the hand of Willie Fernie, one of the great early British golfers in 1878. A classic links course in every respect, the golfer is eased into the challenge with each hole appearing to get progressively tougher. Narrow fairways lined with trouble make tee shots critical, its bunkers are punishing and Troon's small greens require touch and imagination. Running straight out and back along the coast, Troon often changes dramatically from front nine to back.

Although close to the sea, there is something of a heathland nature to Scotscraig, with far more trees in evidence than on most links. Combined with many whin bushes and the rolling nature of the fairways, the course is quite demanding but, at the same time, interesting. The most memorable hole is the 4th, a Par 4 of average length but with a formidable finish over lumpy, heather covered terrain to a plateau green that is very difficult to hit and hold. A more lengthy challenge is the Par 5 14th, a test that calls for precise positioning in order to reach the well-guarded green. Players of all levels will find a day's golf at Scotscraig truly enjoyable.

Created on a narrow strip of land between the New Course and the sea, the Jubilee was originally a 12 hole course intended for ladies and beginners, the Jubilee was eventually extended to an 18 hole format. In 1988 the re-design of the Jubilee to championship standard was carried out by Donald Steel of Cotton, Pennink, Steel & Partners, golf course architects. It is the longest course at St. Andrews and now has the reputation as the toughest links course. It is also used regularly for championship events.

St Andrews Links Trust is creating a seventh eighteen hole course to join its portfolio of six courses. The Castle Course opened in the summer of 2008. Following the coastline east of St Andrews, The Castle Course is two miles from the town centre. The designer, David McLay Kidd, creator of Bandon Dunes on the West Coast of America, has created a typical Scottish golf experience. Each hole has a choice of five tees and the course will be playable between about 5300-7200 yards.

St. Andrews New Course

St. Andrews Eden

St. Andrews Old Course

Tain Golf Club

Opened in April 1895, the course was built in response to increasing demand for golf at St Andrews. The New Course is a classic links course which uses the natural features of the land to create a first class golfing challenge. The course has the traditional out and back layout, with the 18th green just to the right of the first tee. It also has, in the great St Andrews tradition, shared fairways and even a double green at the 3rd and 15th holes. It has frequently been said that if the New Course were not situated next to the Old, then its star would have shone with a far greater degree of brilliance.

Handicap Limit – Men: 24, Ladies: 36. The oldest golf course in the world has many remarkable features which help make it so special to golfers around the world. It is the Home of Golf where golf was first played 600 years ago and yet it remains a real test of golf for today's champions. Despite its reputation and status, it is a public course. The course is known for its particular physical features including 112 bunkers, some of which are especially famous e.g. 'Hell' on the long 14th, 'Strath' on the short 11th and the Road Bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world, the 17th or Road Hole (so called because a road - which is in play - runs hard against the back edge of the green). The Old Course’s truly remarkable feature is that in today's modern golfing world, a course which has evolved over six centuries remains a true test of championship golf.

Overlooking the Dornoch Firth, Tain Golf Club arguably offers one of the best settings imaginable in the highlands for a round of golf. With sea on one side and the backdrop of the mountains behind, every day brings a different aspect to this challenging and beautiful course.

By the year 1913 the pressure for play on the Old, New and Jubilee courses was such that a fourth course was required. Opened for play in 1914, the Eden course was designed by Harry S. Colt, internationally renowned for his course design skills. Alterations completed in 1989, under the direction of the golf course architect, Donald Steel, do not fall short of the high standards set by Mr. Colt. The result is a course of character but slightly less testing and more forgiving than the three courses lying on the seaward side.

Troon Portland Course

Trump International

3

Turnberry Ailsa

Turnberry Kintyre

Western Gailes Golf Club

Portland is another good links course and although overshadowed by its illustrious neighbor, it would be a mistake to dismiss it. It is in fact very similar to Royal Troon as far as the holes and hazards go but it is a bit shorter and more forgiving. Portland is always in excellent condition and is a serious alternative to its Royal British Open Old Course.

The former Arran Course has been totally redesigned by well known course designer Donald Steel, and is now reopened as the Kintyre Course, offering a serious challenge to golfers of every level. The Kintyre offers more of a ‘links’ feel, with a variety of different tees, undulating greens and fairways, and spectacular views of Arran and the Irish Sea.

Long regarded as one of the finest courses in the world, polls now regularly acknowledge the Ailsa Course at Turnberry as one of Britain's top three courses, confirmation that gives it eminence worldwide and regular rankings within the world's top 20 courses. The scenic glories of the Ailsa Course are to be savored - the granite dome of Ailsa Craig, the low form of the tip of Argyll, and the peaks of Arran, highlight the changing patterns of light and shade. Closer at hand, the lighthouse, and the ninth's lovely back tee are other symbols of historic Turnberry.

Spanning approximately 500 hectares of land on the north-east coast of Aberdeenshire, the proposed development comprises a world class championship links golf course suitable for hosting major international events and a second 18-hole links golf course; an iconic hotel set amidst an array of luxury holiday homes; and a residential village formed within the unique setting of Menie Estate. The proposed layout of the world class championship links course will complement the natural landscape and offer golfers dramatic sea views from nearly every hole. The links promise to be both challenging and beautiful for golfers of all levels.

The reputation of Western Gailes as one of the game's finest and more exacting courses has spread world wide, as evidenced by its numerous visitors from well beyond Scotland 's shores. Our setting is imposing being situated between the railway and the sea, a fact that accounts for both being very much in play as major features. It is special amongst seaside courses that are no more than two holes wide, in having its clubhouse in a more or less central position. The course, 6639 yards off the medal tees is, as the standard scratch score rating of 74 indicates, never other than an excellent test of true links golf.

The Culloden House, at the time of the Jacobite rising in 1745-46, was requisitioned by Bonnie Prince Charlie and used as his lodging and battle headquarters prior to that fateful and final battle on Culloden Moor on the 16th April 1746. Today, this handsome Palladian country house stands in nearly 40 acres where guests are free to wander about the elegant lawns and parkland to enjoy the exceptional peace, tranquility and majesty of the grounds. The interior features a wonderfully comfortable drawing-room with magnificent Adamesque plasterwork, many fine antiques and a large open fire.

Why SGH Golf Inc....? Booking an International golf trip is a complicated process, there are a lot of moving parts that all have to fit together to make the trip a success. Comparing golf tour operators is no less complicated. With over 30 years in this industry I on occasion still find it difficult to compare apples with oranges and what may look like a great deal can actually be a bad deal. If any questions come up, I am happy to help you understand how our proposal compares to any others you have received. The following points will help you in your selection process: Look for a company that specializes only in golf tours.

How long have they been in the golf travel business: watch for companies that say they have

been doing business for 30 years but have really have only been arranging golf trips for a few

years. SGH Golf has been arranging golf tours since 1982.

Reputation: Check into a company's reputation and track record.

Professional Associations: Membership in professional associations is usually an indication

that a company abides by that organizations code of ethics and business practices. Check your

travel company out with the associations they claim to belong to. SGH Golf is a member of

IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators), IATA (International Air Transport

Association.

Ask for References: Companies should be willing and able to provide you with recent references

from past clients.

Be wary of companies with no U.S. office: Most overseas operators with no U.S. base of

operations are one man bands with a web site to attract business. Their claims to experience and

knowledge about golf travel may or may not be true. What recourse will you have if their promises

are not kept or if you are disappointed with their arrangements? SGH Golf is a registered Florida

“C” corporation now headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and have offices in Augusta, Georgia,

Glasgow, Scotland; Shannon, Ireland; Marbella, Spain.

Do they have offices the destination countries?: Is the company using agents or local

representatives? Be sure that the company you have selected will be making all of the

arrangements and bookings themselves. At SGH Golf, we learned long ago that the only way to

assure quality is by controlling the trip from start to finish. Many U.S. companies will either hire

someone on a part-time basis in Scotland or Ireland to make arrangements for them or pass on

your trip to another company altogether. Unlike most operators, SGH Golf does not use ground

handlers or representatives, over whom you have no control; you are dealing with the same

company employees throughout your trip.

If you have a problem on site who do you call?: SGH Golf will give you two 24/7 phone

numbers; one for USA and one for your destination country. SGH Golf will be available for

assistance. Naturally if your tour incorporates the services of a concierge driver or host, you will

have immediate and personal attention at all times. If you elect a self driven tour, our local staff

member will meet you at the airport to ensure a relaxed transition to your ground transportation

and to prepare you with a collection of local interesting information. Thereafter, our assistance will

be available for any reason by way of 24 hour telephone.

Trip Pricing: If you are comparing proposals from other golf tour company's price alone should

not be your guide. Compare the different proposals very carefully looking at the various hotels

which may have been offered and the types of rooms. Golf courses and tee times are also

important beware of very early or late times they are usually discounted times. The type of car

rental and what is included and any other services that have been offered.SGH Golf will evaluate

and other companies proposal and will match any of our competitor’s quotes. We are confident

that we provide excellent value for money.

Exchange Rate: Most companies will provide prices “subject to exchange rate fluctuation.” This

is standard industry practice. SGH Golf locks in the exchange rate as soon as you pay a deposit,

so there will be no surcharges.
