KEYNOTE SPEAKERPRESENTATION TITLE: STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP IN A GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN

RAYMOND L. CONNER, Vice President and General Manager, Supply Chain Management and Operations, Boeing Commercial Airplanes

Ray Conner is vice president and general manager of supply chain management and operations for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Appointed in December 2008, he leads commercial airplanes supplier management, fabrication and propulsion systems, and the manufacturing and quality functional organization.

Conner joined Boeing in 1977 as a mechanic on the 727 program. His subsequent roles in management and leadership have presented a depth and breadth of understanding that is key to Boeing’s success in supply chain management.

Most recently, he was vice president of sales for Commercial Airplanes worldwide. Between 2003 and 2007, he was vice president of sales for the Americas focusing on customers in North and Latin America.

In 2001, Conner became vice president and general manager of the 777 program. Prior to that he was vice president of Asia/Pacific Sales for Commercial Airplanes and directed sales to the Asian aerospace industries.

Conner served as vice president and general manager of the 747 program, where he led a team that managed the design, development certification, and production of the 747 airplane. His career at Boeing includes positions as vice president of the Propulsion Systems Division, where his efforts resulted in the development of propulsion systems and auxiliary power units for the entire Boeing family of commercial airplanes. He was also director of finance and information systems for the Materiel Division of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

Early in his Boeing career, Conner held positions in the Material Division as deputy director of major outside production and program participants, as well as international business operations. As the Boeing Commercial Airplanes sales director for Thailand, Conner’s group worked with the U.S. government on political issues affecting the company.

Conner received his bachelor’s degree from Central Washington University and his master’s in business administration from the University of Puget Sound.

Sean Cumbie brings a 24-year track record establishing, growing, and streamlining supply chain operations in fast-paced, time-sensitive, high-growth, global business environments.

Before joining Qiagen, Cumbie was senior director of global sourcing for the MedImmune Biotech Division of Astra-Zeneca. Previously he directed global logistics at Novellus Systems, a manufacturer of capital equipment for the semi-conductor industry. He has also held executive positions in supply chain management at online and brick-and-mortar retail companies

Cumbie received his MBA and bachelor of mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech and has presented to a diverse range of audiences at conferences and educational institutions.

MICHAEL KATZORKE, Principal, Bryce Consulting Group

Michael Katzorke draws from over 25 years of leadership experience in operations, materials, manufacturing, quality, systems, and strategic supply chain management. He served as vice president of supply chain management with Smiths Aerospace, senior vice president of supply chain management with Cessna Aircraft Company, and corporate director of supply chain management with AlliedSignal. He has consulted with a broad spectrum of public and private sector industries.

Katzorke graduated from the University of Utah.He has co-authored two books, Straight to the Bottom Line, an Executives Roadmap to World Class Supply Management and Supply Chain Transformations: A Guide to World-Class Capability and Results. He’s served on the board of directors for the Mid-America Manufacturing Technology Center and has been active in the Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies (CAPS), the Institute for Supply Management, and the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME).
