Benjamin Hughes is associate professor at Seoul National University Law School and an arbitrator with  Fountain Court Chambers in London and The Arbitration Chambers  in Singapore.   He is a member of the SCMA panel of arbitrators and a supporting member of the LMAA. Prior to launching his career as an independent arbitrator, Ben  practiced international arbitration at Shearman & Sterling (in the US and Singapore), and was the founding co-chair of the international dispute resolu-tion practice group at Shin & Kim, one of Korea's oldest and largest full-service law firms.  Since launching his practice as a full time independent arbitrator and mediator in March 2013, Ben has served as the sole, chair or co-arbitrator in over 75 arbitrations under rules of the AAA/ICDR, ACICA, CIETAC, DIS, HKIAC, ICC, JCAA, KCAB, KLRCA, LMAA, SCC, SIAC, UNCITRAL (administered and ad-hoc) and VIAC.  He has also acted as sole arbitrator in both emergency and expedited proceed-ings. Chambers & Partners lists Ben as one of the “Most in Demand Arbitrators” in the Asia-Pacific Region.   Educated in both the civil law and the common law traditions, Ben studied law first at Seoul National University College of Law (all coursework in Korean), and then at NYU School of Law. While at NYU, he spent one semester at La Universidad de Palermo Facultad de Derecho in Buenos Aires, Argenti-na (all coursework in Spanish). He also studied Chinese (Mandarin) and East Asian history at Harvard University.

Lawrence Teh is a Senior Partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice and Arbitration practice. He has particular experience in handling disputes in international trade and commodities, maritime and aviation, banking and financial services, onshore and offshore construction, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other investments, and insurance in related fields. Lawrence advises clients and acts as counsel in all areas of commercial law and appears regularly as lead counsel in the Singapore courts, in arbitration, mediation and other forms of dispute resolution. He is also considered and appointed regularly as an arbitrator in international disputes under rules and auspices of international arbitration institutions and in ad hoc arbitrations.

Lawrence is currently the chairman of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee at The Law Society of Singapore and was closely involved in the establishment of the Law Society Arbitra-tion Scheme and the Law Society Mediation Scheme. He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, and a panel arbitrator at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre of Arbitration (KIRCA) and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB). He is a supporting member of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). Lawrence is the chairman of the Promotion Committee of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA). He is also a council member of the Legal Practice Division in the International Bar Association (IBA) and the administrator of the Comité Maritime International (CMI). He is named in numerous legal guides and directories including the The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, International Who’s Who for Commercial Litigation, International Who's Who of Shipping & Maritime and Asialaw Leading Lawyers for Shipping, Maritime & Aviation and in the Guide to the World's Leading Aviation Lawyers.

KIM In Hyeon, born in 1959, is a full time professor in Maritime Law and Marine Insurance Law and the director of Maritime Law Center at the School of Law, Korea University in Korea. He studied nautical science in the Korea Maritime University and employed by the Sanko Steamship Co. LTD from 1982. After he quitted serving as the Captain (still holds valid Master’s license), he started to study maritime law at Korea University from 1994. He obtained LL.D at Korea University in 1999 and LL.M from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. He studied maritime law at National University of Singapore as a visiting professor in 2013. He served as a maritime consultant for Kim & Chang, the largest law firm in Korea from 1996 to 1999.

He is the current president of Korea Maritime Law Association. He acted as legal adviser for Korean government to UNCITRAL Transport Law Project (Rotterdam Rules) and Legal Committee of the IMO. He was also a member of revision committee for Korean Commercial Code Maritime Law Section. He is a member of Planning Committee of CMI. He published several English articles on maritime law in the journal of maritime law & commerce including Sewol Ferry Accident and Hanjin Shipping’s Rehabilitation case in Hong Kong Law Journal (2016). He is the author of “Transport Law in South Korea” published by Kluwer. He is a listed member of Korea Commercial Arbitration Board and SCMA as well. He acted as the chairman for establishing Seoul Maritime Arbitration Association during 2017 and 2018.

Byung-Suk Chung is an attorney at Kim & Chang. He practices primarily in shipping, shipbuilding, insurance and international trade and related international arbitration & cross-border litigation. Mr. Chung has handled numerous maritime law cases, insurance and reinsurance disputes, domestic and cross-border litigation, and arbitrations involving international trade disputes.

Mr. Chung has been an arbitrator on the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board since 1994 and the mediator of Seoul Central District Court since 1994. He has served as the President of Korea Maritime Law Association (2012-2014) and has served as the President of the Korean Private Interna-tional Law Association since 2015. He has recently been elected as the president of Seoul Maritime Arbitrators Association. Mr. Chung currently teaches maritime law at Seoul National University Law School and Korea University Law School as an adjunct professor. Mr. Chung has authored various publications, including “Shipping & International Trade Law Korea Chapter” (Thomson Reuters). Also, he has been consistently recognized as a “Leading” attorney by both Chambers Global and Cham-bers Asia-Pacific.

Mr. Chung received an LL.M. from University College London in 1987 and an LL.B. from the College of Law, Seoul National University in 1977. He also attended the Graduate School of Law, Seoul National University in 1980 and the Judicial Research and Training Institute of the Supreme Court of Korea in 1980. He is admitted to the Korea bar.

Jun Hee Kim is a partner in White & Case's global International Arbitration practice. Jun Hee brings broad experience advising on international arbitrations in Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. He has worked on matters in the construction, engineering, infrastructure, intellectual property, technology and shipping sectors, as well as on disputes arising from joint venture, distribu-torships, and post-M&A transactions. He has acted as counsel in more than 60 arbitrations under various arbitral rules including the ICC, AAA, SIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, KCAB, SCC, NAI, and UNCITRAL rules, and in ad hoc proceedings.

KOREA SHIPOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION (KSA) is a nation-wide organization of owners and operators of the vessels engaged in the ocean transportation on the basis of free activities. The KSA is striving to promote a fair and free activity in shipping and to contribute toward the sustainable development of Korean shipping industry.

In terms of the objectives, the KSA conducts research and survey of shipping trends, main-tains close contact with related shipping organizations at home and abroad and acts as an advisory organization to the Government Authorities on the ocean shipping policies. And KSA sets up and manages the marine safety institute for prevention of marine pollution and accident, and makes much effort for safe voyage of Korean Vessel such as policy proposal for the improvement of sailor supply and demand, construction of labor and management cooperation system, and formation of industrial and academic cooperation base.

The KSA, founded on June 20, 1960 as a nonprofit corporation, is proud of its history and its various activities covering all matters of the nation’s ocean-going shipping industry on the private level.
