My brothers, this year has started off with a blast. We have
already reached positive growth for this year. Let’s keep up
the good work. It has been a load of fun traveling around
the Jurisdiction and helping out the chapters. I can’t wait
for the next few months. We have a lot of events coming up
soon. Don’t forget about our canned food drive at football.
Please bring a canned food and if you are not going please
give a canned food to your league president to bring out to football. Let’s
go out there and support one another and everyone’s events. I can’t wait to
see all of you at our events!

Hello SCJ,
The first two months of this year’s term are off to a great start! Many different chapters have already had their Installations, and I look forward to a strong finish to Installation Season.
Breaking news from the Membership Front: for the fifth consecutive year, Southern California Jurisdiction has attained positive growth!!! This has never been ac-complished throughout our Jurisdiction’s history, and we all should be proud of our ac-complishment. Our next goal is to initiate 200 members for this year, which we are only about 40 members away from. So let’s keep working, and stay in first place of DeMolay International for Jurisdictional Membership!
Installation Season is in full swing in SCJ, with many different chapters in SCJ already hosting their bi-annual installations. There are Installations almost every Saturday in November, and I highly en-courage everyone to go out and support the chapters of our Ju-risdcition. I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Installa-tions, strengthening our Brotherhood in the Fellowship of the Crown!Fraternally,
Tyler Davis

Hello SCJ,
October has been a great month for Neo-Trital. We had a great turn
out for league football, as four teams were able to compete. Also, I’d like to
thank everybody who attended our first league meeting of the year. Congratulations to West Covina Chapter who is becoming
more active and now has three new members. It is always great to see this kind of growth in our order, so keep up the good
work guys.
This month looks to be a full of excitement. It’s off to a great with an amazing shrine dance.
Thank you to those who are volunteers at the West Covina Masonic Homes. Also, I hope everyone has
been working on the league philanthropy project because the league officers will be collecting them in the
beginning of the month. Hollywood Chapter is hosting the Neo-Trital Dad Land Observance at 6pm on
11/8. I hope to see everyone at Jurisdiction football on the 16th along with plenty of canned food. We
have two installations within the league this month: Antelope Valley Chapter on 11/23 and Hollywood
Chapter on 11/30. Our next league meeting will be at Conejo Valley Chapter after their stated meeting on
Thursday 11/14. See you there!
Yours Truly,
Matthew Higginbotham

Greetings, from Highland League!
First off I would like to congratulate all of the elected and appointed officers of Foothill Chapter, George Washington
Chapter, and Keith Lee Seals Chapter for being installed into their new positions for the ensuing term and I hope you make the
most out of it. They were all very successful and Thank You to everyone for attending.
Also, congratulations to our 2 new brothers initiated into George Washington Chapter on October 14th in West Covina.
On October 28th it was our Highland League Visitation to Keith Lee Seals Chapter. It was a treat to see our
brothers in Victorville and we look forward to seeing them again. George Washington Chapter held their
annual Haunted House on October 31st at San Dimas Masonic Center. This was a very successful event for
them as it has been in the past as well.
In closing, we look forward to seeing everyone around the Jurisdiction and wish all the chapters’
good luck in their 6 month terms.
Yours truly,
Jesus Martinez

Greetings from Titan League!
It’s been a great start to the year in Titan League. Will Hagerman was in-
stalled as Master Councilor of Newport Beach Chapter and Jeff Jones was installed as Master Councilor of Orange
Chapter to serve their respective chapters. We still have Yorba Linda’s, Huntington Beach’s, Garden Grove’s, and
Walt Disney’s installations coming up very soon and we would love to see chapter rooms full of supporters. We had
our first league meeting of the year at the DeMolay Center in September. We will have all of our league meetings
on the third Thursday of the month at the DeMolay Center and will start at 7:30. Titan League recently went to
Knott’s Berry Farm for its annual “Knott’s Scary Farm, Halloween Haunt” event. I was personally surprised and de-
lighted to see the showing we had from different chapters outside the league as well as our own attendance at the
event. I just want to say thank you to the following chapters who made it a memorable night, Walt Disney, Garden
Grove, Newport Beach, Orange, Yorba Linda, Kimball, Valley Hills, George Washington, Long Beach,
and Downey Chapter. I can only hope that all of you will continue to travel to our upcoming events, as
it is always a pleasure to see all of you. See you all at Shrine Dance!

Squires Manner
Hello SCJ,
What a great month it has been for the SCJ Squires Program.
We are very excited to announce that Diamond and Titan Leagues held recent Squire information sessions
which produced lots of new prospects. Sonora and Paradise Leagues have also been working hard to promote
this great new program and have some of their own newly signed petitions.
A jurisdiction wide Initiation ceremony has now been scheduled to get these new families engaged and started
in the program. This event comes as the first of many steps to begin the formation process for three to four
new manors and expanding our program greatly.
This event will be held Hosted by the new Ocean View Manor #2 on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Beach
Cities Masonic Lodge. 1535 Artesia Boulevard. Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, beginning at 2pm in the af-
ternoon.
As always we would like to extend an invitation to any SCJ Demolay, Parents, Grandparents, Guardians and
Advisors who are interested in learning more about the Squires program to come out and support this event
or one the upcoming events for New Valley Manor listed below:
Regular Meeting - Thursday 11/14 - 6:30 pm at Conejo Valley Chapter
Casual "Prospect Party" Meeting - Thursday 12/19 - 6:30 pm at Old West Chapter
Remember the New Valley Squires philanthropic project this term is collecting gently used clothing for home-
less shelters. Please feel free to drop off your donations at one of our upcoming meetings or call Mom Mazer
or Mom Kelley to make arrangements for pick up.
We challenge all the advisors, DeMolay's, Sweethearts, and supporters of SCJ to take a good look at this won-
derful program. It is so very rewarding and deserves your attention.
Thank you again for your support of the SCJ Squires Program

Hello SCJ, Its been a busy month of October in Paradise League. Not only did we have an installation, but we have had 2 initiations, a DeMolay degree, and have read a couple of petitions. I would like to thank those who came to our last League Meet-
ing. It was great working on and hearing everybody's elevator speeches. I think we all learned something hear-ing them from an advisor's and sweetheart's point of view. Coming up in Paradise on November 9th, Long Beach Chapter is having thier Installation of officers. Brother Ryan Alfford will be going in as Master Councilor. The Installation will be starting at 7:30 and there will be a reception and a dance to follow. Also, Paradises league meeting is going to be on November 15th at the Norwalk Masonic center at 6:30pm. It will be DeMolay dress and the address is 12345 Rosecrans Ave. Norwalk CA, 90650. After the League Meet-ing we will be going into the Eastern Star's Installation. Mom Mann will be going in as Conductress and it would be great to show our support. Mark Patton Paradise League President

Greetings SCJ!
I hope everyone is enjoying this lovely time of year, installation season! I would like to extend my congratulations to the chapters
who had their installation of officers this past month and I wish you all a successful term. To the chapters who have upcoming instal-
lations I look forward to visiting and supporting you all.
I am very excited to announce the arrival of the new Sweethearts program fundraiser, which are monumental pocket size 2014 calen-
dars. They are three dollars each and on the cover of the calendar is the DeMolay logo and website information for the jurisdiction.
Along with the calendar sales we are still selling the gourmet lollipops for fifty cents. If you have any questions or would like to
purchase a calendar and/or lollipops, the league sweethearts and princesses as well as Amber and I are selling them.
Lastly, I am still working with the league sweethearts to create a sweetheart and princess roster to help improve
communications on the Chapter, League, and Jurisdiction levels. If there are any young ladies who do not hold a
title in the chapter and would like to be included in the roster to receive information, please let your League Sweet-
heart know so we can make sure to get your information added. Thank you all for your time and I hope you have a
safe Thanksgiving!

Hey guys,
I hope everyone has been having a great term so far. Congratulations to the chapters who have new members
coming in. Remember to keep it up. I love the fact that our jurisdiction is growing. I love travelling around the juris-
diction and seeing you guys around. If I have yet to come to your chapter don’t worry I’ll be there as soon as I can.
And the sweetheart’s and princesses have a new fundraiser. We will be selling calendars, and they are really cool if
I do say so myself. Please feel free to come and check them out. Also please remember that we are going to be
collecting money for our five different charities for the year. So if you see any of the jurisdiction officers around and
you have some spare change you would like to give us we would be more than happy to except your donations. All
the money that will be collected is going to five amazing projects and if you haven’t heard what
they are or have forgotten they are. The philanthropic projects are Wounded Warriors Project, Relay
for Life, Make a Wish Foundation, Raise a Reader, and the Special Olympics. These are great pro-
jects that deserve all that we can give them. I will see you all around.
With all my princess love,

Zero – Tolerance Policy
Southern California Jurisdiction maintains a philosophy of zero tolerance with regard to the possession or
use of alcohol, inhalants, drugs (both illegal and those without a prescription), weapons (other than cer-
tain firearms and other weapons used at DeMolay sponsored events), and hazing by any person at any
kind at any DeMolay sponsored activity, meeting or event. Violations of this policy or any similar policy
set forth in Risk Management, Youth Protection, or prohibited substance policies may result in suspen-
sion or expulsion from DeMolay International. The specifics of the policies may be found in the published

My Brothers of SCJ!
I greet you again from the Secretary’s desk! We are two short months into the DeMolay year and it
already seems like time is going by at triple speed. We are just coming out of Installation season and
moving into the Fall events! I cannot wait to see everyone at SCJ Football on the 16th, NCDA Convention
Thanksgiving weekend and of course, the Holiday Spectacular in December!
We as a Jurisdiction are getting stronger by the second and I want to continue to urge the chap-
ters forward as we continue to progress as a whole. We in Southern California are an

From The Jurisdiction Dad...
From The Jurisdiction Mom…
Happy Harvest Time, SCJ’ers…
It sure is hard to believe that the start of the holiday seasons is upon us already. The Sweetheart Program is off
to a Great Start. Thank you all for supporting us with the purchasing of the lollypops. We will continue selling them
through out the year as well as some other goodies.
Speaking of selling things, have you seen the “2014 Pocket Calendars” that the ladies are selling for $3.00? I
must admit that they are sharp looking. So if you would like to buy one for yourself or someone else, just look for your
League or Jurisdiction Ladies.
Congratulations to all the New Members that are no DeMolay’s. I hear that unofficially, that we have positive
growth at this time. But let’s not stop getting those young men in. We still have 2 full months to get them initiated and
form 10’s in by the end of December.
If you have been or are going to be installed as Master Councilor, Please submit your “Letter of Intent for PMC-MSA”. Along with
this letter, I need a Budget for you term, and a one page calendar of events. Please have the CORRECT signatures on the Letter of Intent
Form. These items need to be scanned in a pdf. format and e-mailed to me at [email protected] need to have this form into me
within 10 Day’s after your Installation. You can have it filled out and signed and e-mailed to me by your Installation as well. REMEMBER: If
you do not follow up with a Term Recap, which needs to be turned in within 10 day’s of your outgoing Installation, your Letter of Intent, will
not considered. Even if you do not meet all the requirements, still finish the Term Recap and email it to me. If you do not have this form, you
can find it on the SCJ website under the “Resource section”.
IF anyone is interested in taking the LCC test, to earn you Lamp of Knowledge pin, you can contact me at
[email protected] if you don’t know what test #’s you have completed. If you are starting with Test #1, you can find
this on the SCJ website under the “Forms & Resources” section. You can either scan the answer sheet as a pdf or mail it to me with your
payment. All checks or money orders need to be made out to SCJ DeMolay, with the descriptions of payment in the memo section of the
check.
I look forward to seeing you at the up coming events, and Football in November, as well as all the League Officers,
Sweethearts, Princesses, and Advisors at the next PSA on November 17th, at 10am, at the DeMolay Center. Please be safe in
your travels, and leave earlier so you don’t have to rush. We want you to arrive at your destination safely.
DeMolay Hugs and Sweetheart Love
Mom Harlan…
It is Thursday, October 24, 2013. This article is due tomorrow, and I am waiting until the last minute to
turn it in because I am waiting to find out how many have initiated in Corona Chapter. Because, unoffi-
cially, we could be at positive growth for the fifth year in a row! So, I am going to keep writing and blabber-
ing on until I find out. This could be a long and verbose article. While waiting, I want to thank everyone for
the work you’re doing for our Order. I have been trying to go to as many events as possible and I see a
great many of you all around the Jurisdiction, taking part in installations, helping in degrees, dinner ser-
vices, just to name a few. Last weekend I attended the Grand Chapter Youth Day Festivities with our SCJ
Officers. Your Jurisdiction Master Councilor was the first to speak and set the bar for all of the other youth
leaders to follow, and we had a great time during our journey. There are a number of events coming up in
the next few weeks and I hope to see you at them. Wait a minute…. I am getting a text… WE DID IT
(Unofficially). With the candidate initiated at Corona, we attained positive growth for the Jurisdiction!
BRAVO ZULU, SCJ! I have to stress the word “Unofficially”. We have to wait until the Form 10’s have been
submitted and processed. Again, well done! I will let the SCJ officers cover the various events coming up,
but I want to remind you of the SCJ Ritual Competition, and all of the League Competitions as well. The SCJ Competition will
be at the DeMolay Center on the 25th of January. Please remind your advisors that in order to have individual contests, I need
judges. Also, the deadline for registration is the close of the SCJ Bowling Tournament. Why so early? You ask? Because Dad
Brown and I need that time to come up with a schedule. League Administrators and League Advisors have registration forms.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks again for all of your hard work.
Who are we?
We are DEMOLAY!
Let’s Go!
Respectfully,

FROM THE E.O... To My DeMolay Family,
I want to start off by “Congratulating the entire Jurisdic-tion”; SCJ has once again obtained Positive Membership Growth; this time for the 5th year in a Row! Wow, what can I say other than, I’m very impressed.
Our Jurisdiction, League and Priory Officers have been working very well together in order to help all of the SCJ Chapters grow. It’s truly great to see so many DeMolays,
Sweethearts, Princesses and Advisors coming together as a Family, to wel-come our New Members into our organization. With SCJ having over 40 Active Chapters in the Jurisdiction, and covering so many miles, it’s essen-
tial that we all continue to Lead by example and work as a TEAM!
A special thanks to all members and advisors, who assisted our Masonic Family at the Covina Ma-sonic Homes, to have another successful Christmas Boutique. Another special thanks go to the Al Malai-kah Shriners, for sponsoring another great Halloween Shrine Dance, hundreds of our youth and adults had a good time.
On the administrative side of the house, we have been successful in distributing the Annual ACR’s (Advisory Council Registration) Forms electronically via email. Hopefully, we’re expecting them back in a similar manner. Please remember that these are legal documents, so use a black ink pen & print clearly, to generate a good quality and legible scan. We need the paperwork back from ALL Chapters by the 1st of December.
As we start to look forward to the Holiday Season and trips to Nor-Cal and Family visits, etc... Please, take a few moments to contemplate just how lucky we are, have a discussion about our upcoming Obligatory Day “Day of Comfort”, at your next Chapter, League or Jurisdiction meetings to see if there is anything that your group can do to help your Community. If possible, plan to spend some time helping others that are less fortunate than ourselves; Many of the things we all take for granted, such as family, friends, our health, a roof over our heads, a warm bed, a toy or a simple hot meal, are nothing more than a Wish or a Dream for many. Volunteer to collect Food, Clothes or serve a meal at your local Church, Community Senior Citizen Center, or the Midnight Mission. The most rewarding thing that you can ever do is to help others; it’s not only the right thing to do, it’s consistent with DeMolay and Ma-
sonic Principles and it will give you a warm feeling inside that’s truly Priceless!!!
In closing, I once again want to congratulate the Jurisdiction for continuing to make Membership His-tory; we must be doing something right! As usual, I want to wish you safe travels and remind you DO
NOT TEXT WHILE DRIVING!!!
Fraternally, Just Dad Key
