Abhishek: Your experiences while conduc ng SAP training sessions at different places across the globe.
Sir::As far as academics are concerned, my experience is getting enriched day by day, not only in terms of infrastructure but also in terms of commitment towards developing, conducting and evaluating the academic contents. Faculty has lot of freedom here to bring value to the college. Culture at SCIT is social, professional and collaborative so whoever
good for those who are already there and those who will join.
Sir: Usually when I go out for such training sessions we share our mutual experiences of how we plan a course. What kind of teaching and learning methodology other colleges are adopting, why do we adopt that methodology. What are outcomes of those methodologies? We try to share some successful outcomes out of those methodologies. I carry your assignments which you have done in FI, MM, SD with me and show them that these are the assignments given by me to the students and these are results from the students. Some faculty members from other colleges find this very innovative and they come and ask me about this methodology. During our interaction I found some colleges are having more industry association than we have here and then we ask them how much industry participation is there and how it is helping in bringing value to students. It is very important that how much industry have trust and believe on our academics to provide us industry related problems

The event was kicked off by a walking parade of highly spirited Prayatna supported kids, which was very well appreciated by the present audience. This act was complemented by scintillating concerts & mesmerizing performances. The performers were all indigenous rock – bands of Symbiosis family. Two bands from SCMHRD and one each from SIIB & SCIT enthralled the spectators with their foot tapping beats, mellow vocals and infectious energies. Among all the artists, SIIB Senior band were the listeners hot favorites.

SEP-2012 Events and Happenings Art of Living
Learning:
We had talks on how to make most of life; how to have good relationships; keeping gratitude towards parents; active role in society; and also what kind of food are the best and why. We liked the scientific manner in which the trainers explained each concept – why to avoid leather articles, or meat eating, or even tea/coffee. We were made understood how to remain fit with Yoga which is not a new ‘IN’ thing but a very old
traditional science of ours which is being revived now for good. Every day we were given some very interesting home-works. We also had Q&A sessions with the trainers in which we could ask them any doubt in our mind. We also loved the way trainers answered some controversial questions.
The powerful spiritual flow into the content was really amazing. The ambience was serene and pious. We experienced tranquility as never before. It was a blissful and refreshing experience.
Important Takeaways:
a) Bhastrika Pranayama – A very powerful breathing exercise which is very helpful for proper blood circulation, clearing nasal passages and increasing thinking capacity by eliminating all mental disturbances.
13
REFLECTIONS

b) Sudarshan Kriya - This unique breathing technique eliminates stress, fatigue and negative emotions such as anger, frustration and depression, leaving you calm yet energized, focused yet relaxed.
c) Spreading smiles without much effort – By just giving a hug, handshaking and saying “I belong to you!” brought smiles on all faces and it was contagious too.
d) Rediscovering self – It unleashed hidden potential within us. People opened up to each other and shared experience with one another. It was an interactive journey.
Our Director, Dr.Raman, speaks:
I have done basic course of YES+ and the best part I liked was the Surdarshan Kriya and the breathing exercises which were quite helpful. I think if done in the right way as taught by YES+ teachers, the Surdarshan Kriya is very helpful.
We can see how the West is attracted towards the courses of Art of Living and spend their time and money on it to learn Yoga and the unique ways of staying fit. So I thought why not our students experience the same! Also, I wanted our students to experience YES+ due to the positive and over-whelming feedback of majority of students from previous batch who attended the session when conducted earlier on-campus. I will try to get feedback from the students this time too and if majority give positive feedback, we can have a session for the next batch joining in 2013 right during their Induction Program.

In today’s hectic times, the complexities of life gradually catch up with everyone at some stage. We live in the present, learn from our past and anticipate tomorrow’s success; but at times, we need to break away from this rut, look back, and just relish
the memories.
The day of 15th September 2012, gave such an opportunity for the prestigious alumni of
SCIT to take a trip down memory lane and recall their SCIT days when life was not
confined to the perplexing externalities, and was about boundary less friend circles and
the days of unadulterated fun. It is with this idea of bringing the alumni together, to
help them connect with old faculty and friends, to forge new networks and work on the
lost ones, was the grand Alumni meet of 2012 planned.
The ground work on this meet started almost 2 months ago with the mining of the
Alumni database dating back to 1999. Around 1000 email ids and phone numbers
were retrieved from the database and invitations were sent. The target was to contact as
many alumni as possible and to get their interest in such a meet. Later, the mail ids

back at the earliest. Social networking came in handy as many of the alumni were
active on sites like facebook and linkedin. Regular updates regarding the event were
posted and mailed to keep the alumni abreast with the latest happenings. To make this
event a grand success, the Alumni committee coordinated with other committees of our
college like the Guest lecture team, the Placement team, Web & Media Committee and
the Cultural team, with respective committee members monitoring the various practise
session of the various events.
The event day had finally come and SCIT was ready to welcome its cherished
prodigies with open arms. It was an emotional moment for everyone present. The
faculty and staff were happy to see familiar faces with whom they had interacted not so
long ago. The alumni were excited to be back in the campus with everyone trying to
recall events that happened during their college days.
“I used to go for bike rides in various spots of Hinjewadi, hang out with friends in
campus and used to sit in near Audi stairs in evening, now I am standing right here
today after so long; I miss that a lot.” says Romesh Razdan from batch 2007-2009.
After all the alumni took their seats, the event commenced with our Director,
Dr. R.Raman addressing the gathering. He emphasised the importance of the Alumni
making a contribution back towards the college and how branding SCIT could work
because of her vision and dedication. Director Sir then launched the ‘SCIT Alumni Portal’ which is a platform for alumni to connect and share their thoughts and ideas that would help make SCIT even better. The portal was inaugurated by Mitul Jain and

his corporate experience and that from the MBA. He shared his journey through SCIT
and also touched upon the industry relevance of the course structure at SCIT, ending
the speech with a special remark; ‘SCIT just happened for me’.
Dr. R. Raman, Director SCIT launched the ‘SCIT Alumni Portal’ which is a platform for alumni to connect and share their thoughts and ideas that would help make SCIT even better.
“We really miss the life at D-Hostel. We three roommates enjoyed a lot there and we
are still together. I can’t point out any particular moment to you, but the whole time at
2008-10 batch. The alumni got a tad nostalgic during the screening of a special video
made by Abhay Neve,Hemadri Bajirao and Mansi Purohit. The video comprised of
various pictures of past batches, happenings in SCIT and some vivid memories.
During the lunch time, current students of SCIT got a chance to interact with the
alumni and quell many of their queries regarding the life after MBA. “I think the
domain knowledge is very important. As I am working in insurance domain right now,
so I need to know everything about insurance. But as a student, you should not limit
yourself to one domain and try to learn about all domains” elaborated Romharsh

Shruti Ahuja, of 2012 batch, on being asked the importance of CGPA in the corporate
life says “Yes for the company perspective if you want to get shortlisted you have to be
at least average or above average CGPA. Companies always see how good you are
academically. Not everyone can get it because the students with low CGPA also has to
contribute and I was among them, but still I will say it’s always better to keep CGPA
above average. But I would also like to add that it’s ultimately your knowledge, what
you know matters. You not need to be topper, but keep your knowledge intact”, and Mausmi Roy of 2011 batch stressed on the importance of a focused course structure

Post lunch a completely gratifying session was in store for the audience, The fun
started with a enrapturing performance by the recently formed dance club of SCIT
called ‘SymBeats’. They set the mood of the audience, followed by a heart-warming
performance by well renowned Senior Eklavya Team, who kept up the theme of the
event by portraying a play where they help their friend, who has lost memory in an
accident and his friends help him recall the wonderful moments of their college life.
They came up with an innovative idea where each one of them would go behind a
screen to shift the story from past to present. As always, the Eklavya team had the
audience glued as they delivered their message along with a lot of humour. The junior
Eklavya team was not to be left behind. They performed a captivating mime
performance which received a lot of appreciation from the audience. Our very own
faculty Rashmi Ma’am added a classical touch to the evening by performing a traditional Kathak dance. And in the end, the alumni couldn’t help but grove to the popular hip hop and jazz numbers performed by the Rock Band of SCIT called The
Perpetual Hangover. Audience was also spellbound by fillers in the show and also by
the first year band – Mantra, which performed some mesmerising song numbers. Truly,
they were remarkable.
The alumni, filled with emotions, nostalgia and an immense sense of pride for their
Alma-Mater, thanked the faculty and the organizing alumni committee for the
wonderful get together. Reviving the memories and connections lost the splendid day
came to an end. With a sense of gratitude towards the college, they moved out back to
their work life; with SCIT being equally thankful to them for adding to its éclat in the
corporate world.

the characters and take the audience from present to past and vice versa so as to meet
the demands of the theme, also have the audience relate to each and every scene of the
play.
It did turn out to be a Romantic- Drama play but the main message that ‘Eklavyans’
tried to deliver was about the Life at SCIT and also the Life Long friendships made
here which last forever. The story plot was highly appreciated by the audience.
It was again an effort by ‘Ekalvyans’ worthy a standing ovation but the main thing that
mattered for ‘Eklavyans’ was the “WOW” factor they got from the few founders of
Eklavya that were present as audience this time.
Eagerly waiting for the next Eklavyan performance.

Life is a cycle, and mime is particularly suitable for showing fluidity, transformation, metamorphosis. Words can keep people apart; mime can be a bridge between them.
- Marcel Marceau
Mime is considered one of the earliest mediums of self-expression. Before there was spoken language, mime was used to communicate what the primitive people needed or wanted. Instead of fading into obscurity when the spoken language was developed, mime had become a form of entertainment. It then developed into a true theatrical formin ancient Greece, where performers enacted everyday scenes with the help of elaborate gestures.

skills and intellectual development. Members of the juniors’ batch performed before
the audience with all possible support from the senior batch. The opening scene was brilliant; music played in the darkness and as the lights came up, the mime started with a class room scene.
EKLAYA, one of the most happening clubs of SCIT performed a mime before the Japanese students of Ritsumeikan University.
Theme of the mime was relevant to cordial relationship between students and teachers. All the actors in the play delivered a commendable performance, including the actor who played the encouraging teacher who knew how to manage students in his class. The actors were magnificently convincing in their roles through impressive body, facial control and expression. They worked phenomenally well together to create characters and portray the story in the absence of vocalization. Performances of all the actors were appreciated by the audience. Every idea, concept and message was clearly communicated in a highly creative fashion. Every scene made sense and flowed beautifully. The audience was mesmerized by the performance of 2012 -14 Batch.

be one of the enriching “dance societies” of SCIT; they couldn’t resist but wanted to
be a part of this upcoming club.
The team sent out a message pertaining to the auditions being conducted for including more members in the club. There was a huge turn out by both the juniors and seniors who were all ready to get drained in the colors of dance. Some were selected and some were not, but the club had a motto that “the more the merrier”; so whoever wanted to
be a part was welcome aboard to relive the joy of dance.
The next big opportunity for the dance club was to perform at SCIT’s important event
of the year i.e. the “ALUMNI MEET”, wherein if they were able to create a presence
in the minds of the alumni it would take them far along the path and would mean a milestone for the club. And this is what happened when they danced all the way in front of a huge crowd wherein all were cheering and giving a huge round of applause for them as their performance reached an end.
Mission
To spread smiles each week on the campus, to dance and to create a spirit of learning through constant engagement in dance events and sharing the knowledge of dance.
Following the success of ALUMNI MEET, how could they be far away when there was going to be Ganpati festival being celebrated within the campus. So, true to their style they performed once again to the traditional Ganpati music in front of a huge crowd and were once again appreciated by all.
So, SYMBEATS had created a mark not just within SCIT, but also within SIC and that made a huge difference. Capitalizing on this success, they are all ready to take on new challenges, new events and face the competition of dance.

EVENTS & HAPPENINGS RENDEZVOUS
Last month, SCIT added another new dimension to its ever evolving personality which has always been a mix of professional expertise with a dash of fun. The occasion was the launch of the brand new SCIT website which reflects a fresh perspective towards the life of SCITians and how India’s premier IT B-School plans to adapt itself to the ever changing landscape of the IT industry.
The new site was developed by an in-house team of Niladri Roy, Chandra Vardhan and Mubaid Syed. So one of our team members, Mayur Pawar caught up with the team for an informal chat over a cup of coffee to know more about the new SCIT website. Following is the complete conversation –
A Brave New World @ www.scit.edu Mayur: First things first, why the new site?
Mayur: What do you feel is the USP of the new site?
Niladri: The new site was all a part of SCIT’s new branding exercise. We wanted to
associate SCIT with the ever evolving scene of the IT industry. Moreover the old site was 5 years old and was based on the classic ASP technology. It also did not
comply with the new web standards.
Mubaid: A part of the reason behind developing a new site was to have a fresh outlook towards the current personality of SCITians and to justify the brand
image of SCIT
Chandra: The website layout is the main USP of the new site. The site has the most unique layout amongst all the educational institutes across India. The layout
is having a very fresh look and feel which is a very unconventional approach to what life in B-Schools is generally perceived - rigid, dull and boring. We wanted
to portray SCIT as a good mix of academics, sports, fun thriving with diverse culture and happenings!

Mayur: Tell us about the whole experience you and your team members went through while transitioning from the old site to the new site. I am sure it must be an enriching one!
Mayur: That’s wonderful! How did you go across to contain these issues?
Niladri: Research was the cornerstone of our efforts. While at SCIT, we knew that thorough research was the core thing around which most of our studying efforts
revolve. So we spent around 1.5 months researching websites of different educational institutes across India and the world. Almost 15-20 days were spent
researching for different UI controls. The website is a direct result of concentrated efforts channelized in a correct direction.
Niladri: Sure it was. And that experience was a direct result of the problems we faced! *smiles* We faced a lot of issues such as shifting of the servers from the earlier ASP to PHP ones. The main issue we encountered was content migration. We had a tough time migrating the content
which was in an older format on the earlier site to the newer site. Restructuring the research documents was again a challenge – we had to restructure the content while complying with the
format of a research document.

Mayur: Apart from the look and feel of the site any special features of the site which would like to mention?
Mayur: Okay, tell us more about how the new site is different from the older one.
Mubaid: The use of Ajax based content has helped to reduce the page load time considerably. Also we have used very low flash content due to which the site has become more mobile friendly. Horizontal
scrolling, 360 degree view of the college along with the virtual tour of the campus are some of the cool features of the site.
Chandra: Apart from these features, we also have different portals for the different student driven communities at SCIT such as Drishtikon, Eklavya, Alumni etc. so as to provide enough attention to
each of these. In addition to these, we have retained the standard website sections while including newer sections such as Beyond Campus with special focus on social media sites such as Facebook,
Twitter, Youtube and LinkedIn. We also have a News and Happenings sections underlining the current trends of the IT industry.
Mayur: Any concluding remarks?
Mubaid: Well what can we say..this is just the beginning. There is more to come from SCITians!

One of the highlights of my internship was the CEO’s address to the batch of interns which helped me gain an insight into the organization’s business.

The author, Rhonda Byrne introduces the reader to the Law of Attraction, the most powerful law in the Universe. It says like attracts like; so when we think of a thought, we are also attracting like thoughts to us. Our thoughts send out a frequency to the universe and the universe responds to that frequency. We are like a human transmission tower, transmitting a frequency with our thoughts. If we want to change anything in our life, we should change the frequency of our thoughts. If we don't "feel" the confidence we are not there with our thoughts.
"Every thought of yours is a real thing – a FORCE”.
We are like a human transmission tower, transmitting a frequency with our thoughts. If we want to change anything in our life, we should change the frequency of our thoughts.
How to Use the Secret
There are 3 simple steps in the Creative Process: ASK, BELIEVE, AND RECEIVE. Asking the Universe for what we want is our opportunity to get clear about our needs. Believing involves acting, speaking and thinking as though we have already received what we have asked for.

Receiving involves feeling the way we will feel once our desire has been manifested. It is just a matter of time for the universe to respond to what we ask for.
The Secret gives us anything we want: Happiness, Health and Wealth.
The same principles apply to Money. We should focus on wealth opportunities instead of lack of money. To attract relationships, we make sure to align all our thoughts, words, actions, and surroundings. Focus on your partner's strengths not their weaknesses. Patients get cured from believing that a pill will cure them; The Placebo effect. The thought that the medicine is effective counts more. We are a magnet and can attract everything we want. We have an unlimited supply of ideas. We are all connected and we are all One. Always remember that what we want is only a thought away. Set a goal and try to achieve that frequency. You are the teacher who writes on your blackboard. At the end of each day or at the beginning, review what we did not like and immediately focus on how to make things better. This will change your frame of thinking and attract to you what you want.

Marketing experts all around the world are concentrating on a new paradigm shift in customer’s analysis, answer one question what gets them attracted about a product or

Things have started taking a new leap now, companies are more interested in noticing your browsing behavior, your social networking behavior, what kind of videos you watch practically they are trying to study what visual content you like on the internet.

Even Facebook has got similar features, notice when you click any add, the next time you login the similar advertisement will be displayed and a series of related advertise follow. This is different from pop-up’s you get; it’s very relative to what you want to
know about the subject or the product and hence increases the possibility of customer penetration.
A perfect example that I got from Sailthru websites
If Mike generally reads emails on his iPhone at 4pm, he'll receive an email about your new iPhone app at 4pm. Whereas Amy, an Android user, won't receive the email at all. But if Amy purchases an iPhone and uses it to read an email or view your site, she'll immediately receive a message about the app.
Using behavioral browsing data of the customers marketers have gained tremendous level of insights about the customers, though at nascent level, slowly and steadily marketers can create an influential web for the customers where they are lured with the aspect of information, which is relative to them and thus influencing the most priceless buying decision.
