• The SCAR DIMS seeks to create an Antarctic Information Commons.

• By joining forces with the Arctic community we can help create the PIC.

• The PIC has a Steering Committee and SCADM CO is part of the team.

PIC GoalsPIC Goals• Get as much data as we can openly accessible

with either a Creative Commons (CC) 0 Waiver (i.e. waive your copyright) or a CC Attribution (i.e. doesn’t waive copyright) License.

• Make the PIC brand (or badge) stand for a certain set of norms that community adheres to.

• Deposit data in PIC with minimal metadata or put data directly into an authorised PIC Data Centre.

• Encourage scientists and data miners to exploit the data in PIC.

What Can We Do ?What Can We Do ?1.Brand our metadata and data as belonging

to the PIC. How ?– Insert some standard code into the “usage

constraints” field of the AMD metadata in DocBuilder.
