World Studies Golden Age of Islam Task: You have been assigned the opportunity to create a magazine cover for the Golden Age of Islam. You must first complete research in your notebook (see details below) on the Golden Age, prior to creating your magazine cover.
1. Go to Islam and Islamic History in Arabia and the Middle East (http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/ihame/sec12.htm), The Golden Age of Islam (http://www.irfi.org/articles/articles_401_450/golden_age_of_islam.htm) and Regents Prep Golden Age of Islam (http://regentsprep.org/regents/global/themes/goldenages/islam.cfm )to answer the following questions:
a. What years was the Golden Age for the Muslim world? b. What are the reasons/factors for the Golden Age?
2. What is Bayt al-Hikmah and what did they do? 3. How did the Golden Age of Islam decline/end? 4. Research achievements in the following areas:
Art and architecture
Medicine
Astronomy
Mathematics (Geometry and Algebra)
Literature
Any additional areas you wish (trade, economics, law etc…) The sites below may assist you however you may also use additional sources but please no wikipedia

Magazine Cover Requirements:
The magazine cover and article teasers should be appropriately and creatively titled.
At least 7 article teasers featuring historical people, achievements, topics etc... about the Golden Age of Islam (see topics below):
1. Article about causes/decline of the Golden Age 2. Editorial Article exposing the writers point of view on time period 3. Biographical information on one important person from the time period 4. An article which contains information on MOST significant achievement of the time period 5. Three articles describing key development from different areas of the time period
Appropriate graphics and visuals (no clip art) *Document should look like a magazine cover including all features of a magazine cover
