want to cross contaminate) Observe pond water under microscope. Use

After the lab: Making Connections

1. Review the field guide and brainstormed list of plants and animals from your pre-lab research.

1. Is there anything you would like to add to these lists based on your pond water observations?

 2. Use small Post-It notes (or other small

pieces of paper) write the names of at least 10 of the plants and animals from the list.

3. Create a food web using the Post-It notes. Use a large piece of construction paper to create a display. ** You may want to use a computer to determine what each of your organisms eat.

 4. Compare food webs with other groups.

5. Predict what would happen if :• a specific organism was removed from the

web due to disease or pollution• the population of one organism was to double• an exotic (invasive) species was introduced to

the food web.
