Mistake in section RRO 80x40x4mm in SCIA 2014 Libraries Me and my colleagues find out that there is a mistaken section in the Library family RRO ( German rectangular sections). It is a hollow section RRO 80/40/4mm. The error is in the wrong self-weight calculation and the percentage of error is exactly 10 times higher load!!! We checked other sections from the same library but for luck the checked sections are ok! The question is does any other profile section has the same huge error. Series of crash reports from a user with Tryout licence. He says the problems comse when he tries to print out, wihtout regards to particular project. Please investigate attached error reports and give the prospect some hint how to proceed with evaluation of his tryout version.

First crash report does not provide understandable information. Remaining crash reports shows that the problem was initiated in Windows accessibility. Try to disable it or disable the Touchpad. problem is already solved in R_15.1.53

Autodesign of timber cssdoes not calcualte css characteristics completely. If you open attached project, go to Timber service and run autodesign for css "VAZNICE NAD SLOUPY" which is originally 240x120 mm, you can see that for some widths (130, 140, 150 mm) the unity check is 999 (see picture). The reason is that (if you take a look into css library afterwards) some important css characteristics are zero, even though FEM method is ticked, and therefore there is zero Mcr. If you update the css everything works fine. Could you ensure that also css characteristics calculated by autodesign gives all necessary values? Tested in 15.0.120

27/05 PVT: Solved in DEVE 11 build 15.111.48 and verified in R15.1.58This issue was caused by incorrect cross-section values in the 2D FEM cache. The cache within this project contained zero values. Clearing the cache solves the issue.A test was now added to ignore the cache in case zero values are found.

The project attached keeps crashing randomly on the users machine. I was able to reproduce some crashes on my machine. One while deleting some elements, one while closing the composite menu (both crash reports are attached). Deleting the temp folder and exporting the project to a new esa file is no solution. Can you have a look at the reports to see why this file keeps crashing?

DPIS-9TEKDR Issue: wrong results for subregions See simple test project attached. This is a concrete wall with a steel subregion in it. By looking at the results for the material steel, there are no results. By looking at the results for the concrete mateial, the results for the complete wall are shown (also for the steel subregion). So it seems that changing the material for a subregion only has an influence for the stiffness calculation of the stucture? Can this be changed in the future?

How is the utilisation calculated? And how is the shear due to torsion value calculated? Tested in 14.0.1043

13.026.32 and verified in R15.1 build 15.1.70An issue was fixed in a unit conversion on the output for the shear due to torsion capacity. This capacity is 207 MPa instead of 0,207 MPa. This is also the reason why the unity check is almost zero.

generating loads on load panels In the attached project, there are many load panels, for which the loads will not be generated. Only a few will be generated, and thus the loads in total on the construction are not correct. Check e.g. the load panels LP386 and LP387. Why can't the loads on this panels be generated? I have tried to change the properties of the load panels (max angle for transfer, selection type, ....), nothing seems to help. Tested this in Scia Engineer 14.0.1039 for load case LC6.

Fixed in R15.1 (tested on 15.1.79), Disconnect all, remove ionternal edges, run check structure data, connect again. Then all load is properly generated, or at least I did not found any panel which is loaded and does not generate load

Error when deployng SCIA Engineer silent install provisioned with Microsoft SCCM The problem is that wrong paths are created in the registry when installing under SYSTEM account. This will be fixed in new setup of 15.1 (15.1.59 or later). As a workaround, delete registry keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SCIA and HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\SCIA to prevent recreating wrong registry entries during startup.

If you take a look at deformation of S65, it seems that supports (either by columns B64 and B65 or nodal supprots Sn66, Sn67) are not taken into account. However, everything seem to be correctly connected. If you delete subregions R12 and R15 is looks OK.

User complains that mobile load template UIC 71 has got wrong definition, compared to Eurocode. The distance between the edge linear load and the neighbouring point load is 1,2m but should be 0,8m. We know that this is editable but only with esas.36 module (which is not available for this particular user) because otherwise there is only one tab of parameters for mobile load in a library and this distance can be changed in the second tab of parameters only.

NNLL-9UJ9UA CDD results of project in attachment do not seem ok. Description with images is in word file. The deformations do not make sense at all. Look at CDD results for beam B89 for example. And CDD deformations can also not be shown for all plates.

NNLL-9VQ74L Bug in Scia Engineer 2015 There is a little bug in SCIA Engineer 2015 we discovered today. The bug is in the “Member properties” -> “Table edit geometry” sub-menu. When we want to copy and paste one of our coordinate numbers with the “Ctrl+C” shortcut, the “COPY MEMBER” shortcut command is activated in background. Please see attached screenshot.

Tested in SEN 15.0.50 Please look at the file 2DFEM_PVT.esa in attachment. Cross-section poteau8 was calculated in a 2D environment using 2D FEM Cross-section poteau9 was calculated in a 3D environment using 2D FEM => As the screenshots show, the values are the same but they have been switched between 2D and 3D. When I calculate 3D without 2D FEM I get roughly the same results. => The 3D values for 2D FEM are correct. => It seems for both 2D and 3D environments, FEMco always calculates according to the principal axis however in 2D and incorrect axis switch occurs.

17/03 PVT: Solved in DEVE 11 build 15.111.03 and verified in P build 15.198.12In this specific case, since the user inputted the cross-section in a 2D environment, there is no rotation of the principal axis.The 2D FEM analysis however always calculates according to the principal axis system. Due to the discrepancy between the systems the results of 2D FEM got switched.This issue itself has been fixed i.e. this kind of switch will not happen anymore in a 2D environment, however it's important to note that the user should model such sections in a 3D environment (since for example buckling will occur around the weak principal axis and not the LCS axis).

Steel EC-EN: 999 check for NUM section in Tension + Bending The check for S11 for Class RC1 gives 999. The cross-section concerns a numerical section. The Detailed output does not show the 999 value so this result is unexpected. I noticed two issues: 1) The combined bending and tension stability check shows Wel,z,com = 0 mm^3 This will be caused by the NUM setcion which doesn't have fibres. For a NUM section this should be taken as Wel,z of the cross-section. 2) The Summary output shows "Compression + Moment" has a check of 999 This is unexpected, I would expect "Tension + Moment" there.

07/05 PVT: Fixed in DEVE 11 build 15.111.45 and verified in R15.1.47The issue was caused by the usage of a Numerical cross-section in the combined Tension & Bending stability check.This check requires Wel,z,com at the compressed fibre, however a NUM section has no fibres. This has been corrected and for NUM sections Wel,z is now used.

JTRK-9VCSXJ Wrong topology on element S14 Please identify the problem why mesh cannot be generated on S14 (as the error message at the beginning of analysis says). Because when I delete all other elements and keep S14 only, mesh can be generated and structure (if correctly supported) calculated. Tested in 15.0.60

It is a problem of intersections which is fixed in R15(tested on 15.0.97). Please remove all intersections and internal edges (I recommend to remove also solver temporary files with Cleaner) and connect again, then the mesh can be generated.

CSCT-9U9JXB The surface of S9 jumps from top to buttom because of an intersection ES31. Why? fixed in R15.1 (tested on 15.1.56)

The max moments are not in this place? Also, when I compare it for the same class in the old concrete, you will get a very different result.

The check cannot be performed because an equilibrium of forces cannot be found, but it gives zero for almost all internal checks. NNLL-9VJGK6 Attached project and two checks from 14.1 and 15.0 I think the main difference is the critical section position. Why? So we don´t understand the jump to 118%.

If you start with linear analysis, SEn gives you a message about problematic load panels (loads cannot be generated on LP27,...., see picture attached) after about 9 minutes! Whether you decide to continue with calculation or not (there no possibility to make a choice, other than killing the program in task manager) SEn proceeds and after about 17 minutes you receive another error message (about masses generated from loads). Again, you cannot choose other posibility than continue with analysis. And after about 38 minutes (from start) you get a message about singular matrix and calculation is aborted. So you loose more than half an hour without any possibility to escape and without any result. Although is it "only" time consuming I put here high priority due to the fact that such a problem makes our software almost useless for user. Could you find any reason or speed up the process?

Fixed in R15.1 (tested on 15.1.88). The first message says that LP85 has incorrect geometry - it is necessary to fix (remove the panel). Then only one message about masses which could not be generated is shown. It takes still lot of time but it would be fixed if Scia Engineer is 64bit application.

Can you check the reason for the instability in the non-linear calculation? It should not be instable, since stability calculation gives no problems.

There was a bug in nonlinear stability - those high numbers for critical load coefficient didn't make sence. It is fixed in the last version we sent on friday (24.4.). So the problem is still the same (critical load coefficient smaller than 1). And a solution is still the same - increasing the cross sections of some beams due to too big axial force, which is just a bit above the critical force. In the last simplified example it is the cross section "Afstandhouder vervangen" - increase it to 22mm, then the nonlinear calculation runs just fine.; Petra

I assume the wall which is made in steel of 30cm (very high stiffnes) can have an influence but why doesn't this affect beam B83 & B86 (manually inputted, not from IFC). The users wants a momentdiagram as in beam B83 & B86 (=no moment transmission between rafter and wall). Could this be a bug in the IFC-import?

JPOL-9J3BXU Installation of Scia Engineer 14 doesn't set paths to pictures and drawings templates correctly. I have installed R14.0.32 on my computer and noticed that paths to templates in Setup-Options-Templates are empty (see attached picture). Due to this fact also templates for graphical output are missing (see another picture). This issue has been recorded after installation of Scia Egnineer 2013 as well. Why does this happen? Remedy is quite easy - click on the button with three dots next to the path setting in Setup-Options, but because many users doesn't know I'm afraid there will be many support call again.

1 - the following simple structure was modeled in Scia Engineer (picture 1) 2 - With no changes in LTB length, we have a unity check of 1,36 for LTB (picture 2) 3 - Changing the buckling data (picture 3), we have the same Lb and the same result for LTB (picture 4), that is not OK. 4 - Deleting the buckling data and changing the buckling and relative lengths (picture 5), we have again the same Lb and the same result for LTB (picture 6), that is not OK. 5 - Asking the steel slenderness (picture 7), we can see the value of 0,5 m for l LTB and when the preview is clicked, we have no table. The model and the pictures are in attachment and the version 15.0.100 of Scia Engineer was used.

Check development, the full buckling data, including the LTB length will be added to the DataCache.@ 5: Fixed in DEVE 11 build 15.111.45 and verified in R15.1.47: The Steel slenderness table is now visible and can be inserted into the Engineering Report.
