This thesis investigates the intersection between culture and infrastructure in Los Angeles. The aim is to renegotiate urban zoning confl icts and collisions along the LA River in downtown. As a result, the thesis manifests itself in an urban park, which performs as a closed system that serves the community in everyday activities with deep ecological concerns. This project seeks to explore ritual, cultural, and habitual attitudes of the community regarding the LA River seasonal water fl ow which is a catalyst for the generation of seasonal based architecture.

The project contains mixed programs of several indigenous wetlands as well as a recreational center providing tennis and basketball fi elds that promotes public engagement with the new urban infrastructure. In addition, the presence of the community agricultural farming center next to fresh food market and restaurants is not only a self sustaining public space but also promotes a model for the harmonious urbanization of economic growth, social inclusion and healthy living.

SOLANO CANYON PROJECT Dynamic Architectural Systems: Smart, Sustainable,
The site is located in Solano canyon in Los Angeles. From the site analysis, factors such as solar radiation, direction of the oceanic wind, and view were taken into considertation for the design of this emergant smart multi-dewelling units.
The morphological living spaces are situated far away from the freeway. There are fi fi teeen residential units that each is situ-ated at a specifi c elevation down the slope. Moreover, the main circulation is on a fi xed grid that partitions the private space from the public spaces.

Solar Radiation in Summer & Winter
Due to the solar design, the amount of sunradiation penetrating each unit is minimized in the summer and max-imzed in the winter. Moreover, the metal canopy is a land-scaping tool that creates accessible green space and provides an outdoor storage.
Ventilation
Because of the oreintation of the building, the wind coming from the west is directed towards the interior of each unit. Moreover, with the use of operable windows underneath the stairs, this fresh air is circulated properly in each unit.
Grey-water
This diagram conveys the optimization of reusable water within each unit that irrigates the green space on the unit below.

This project is designed for three cities in the state of Kuwait. The design is based on modularity of building volume and symmetrical land development.
Colored free form tents are initially indicating each build-ing for way fi nding in the campus. The tents also create inhabitable space on roof tops such as play area , out door classes and lounge spaces.
