    Preface:

The highest Education is that which does not give us only information butalso makes our life in harmony with all existence. Education should aim

at the balanced growth of the total personality of man through the

training of mans spirit, intellect, the rational self feeling and bodily

senses. Education should therefore cater for the growth on man in all

its aspects towards intellective, imaginative, physical, scientific,

linguistic and both individually and collectively and motivate all these

aspects towards goodness and the attainment of perfection. The

curriculum of IER tried to follow those principles of education. Itincludes a practicum for 6 months. It is compulsory for all student of

IER. Therefore, I have to complete that practicum at 7th semester.

Evaluation is an arguing process and it is an integral part of the teaching

learning procedures. Since theoretical knowledge is not much effective

without practical knowledge in teaching learning process, every student

of IER have to go to a school at 7th semester to complete his practicum

course as a part of his Honors degree. So, I was sent to school section of

Nilkhet High School. There I had to teach Social Science at class IX and

at class VII. Before going there, I completed Microteaching and

Simulation course that was in fact a mock up of a real classroom situation.

Going to school, I had an opportunity to apply that knowledge of

microteaching in a real classroom situation. As a student of IER my duty

was to acquire knowledge in the field of Education. My role was just astudent, but the course PC-1700 changed everything & took me to a New

World, the world of teaching. It was an exceptional & interesting

experience for me. In my childhood, I was very afraid of any kind of

presentation. I used to hide from crowded places & did not talk much.

This course has changed all these barriers. Because it took me to the

practical world of teaching & I felt change in myself after the exam. I

felt that I can talk & I have the quality of teaching. Now when I see a

teacher I try to observe him is he a quality full teacher or not. I also try

to observe that where the problem of the teacher is.

My school was Nilkhet High School. It is situated at Sonargoan Road

under Dhaka University Area. It is a secondary school. I have to teachhere class 7 and class 9.I had some wonderful experience during my

teaching period. At the end of this course, we had to submit some

documents based on the school. School report is one of them. I tried

my best to provide right information about the school. The

information of the school is given below.

    History of This School

The headmaster (Md. Abdul Hakim Mollah) of Nilkhet Government

Primary school was the first person who took initials to establish the

school. He came to a final decision after discussing this issue with Mr.Makbul Hussain (Nilkhet Thana Education Officer). He went to meet the

Zila Education Officer at18th January 1975. At that particular day he got

the permission & formed a managing committee of 11 members at 27th

January 1975; Mr. Bazlur Rahman the Assistant Examination Controller of

the University of Dhaka was the Chairman & Mr. Badar Uddin Ahmed was

the Secretary of this committee. The school was built at 7th February

1975 & at the same day it started its journey with 13 student & 3 teacher

introducing class six. The next year (1976) the school committeeintroduced class seven & just in the next year (1977) Class eight & nine

was introduced, in that particular year (1977) 4 more teachers got the

recruitment. At that time, Dhaka University provided the school some

extra lands & finance. In the year, 1976-77 Dhaka University granted

10,000 taka. For the development of the school at present, this amount

has reached around 300000 taka. The school was permitted to inaugurate

class nine at 1st January 1978. The next year 12 students took part in the

SSC Exam, but unfortunately, only 2 students passed the exam. Since

1982, the school regularly started taking part in the SSC Exam. It should

be mentioned that the first headmaster & other two teachers who

started the school werent paying employees, they provided free

education for the school for a long period of time.

    Physical Facilities

The amount of physical facilities in this school is poor and there is not

enough space to accommodate all the students, even though construction

of a new school building inside the school arena is going on. There are not

enough open places inside the school arena for student gathering,

moreover there is another primary school within this small school

compound that took more open space.

The school is surrounded by a boundary wall, which indicates itssafety. There are two tin shaded classrooms just besides the three

they are lacking fresh air & light, infect they are not hygienic.

The school office building & classroom building is situated face toface & there a little piece of land among them which is not suitable for

playing or any other purpose, during the rainy season it is difficult to walk

here because of the mud & slippery condition.

On the other hand the office building has one room for theheadmaster & another for the assistant headmaster, it also has a

teachers common room & a official room various official purposes. Just by

the office room there is a toilet that is divided into 3 parts; one for the

teachers & another two respectively for boys & girls.

There are some trees arranged in front of the main building & theoffice building. All these trees make the school look better. There is a

rest room for the guardians just inside the main gate.

    1. Class room situation & environment will have to be improved so that

without practical knowledge in teaching learning process. My practicum

was a wonderful experience for me to work as an honorary teacher in

Nilkhet High School. I learnt a lot from the situation that I faced during

teaching period. In the earlier stage, I faced some challenges. Most of

the students & teachers were used to with the traditional teaching

learning method, so it was not easy for me to apply my own way of

teaching, some teachers argued & try to dictate me the way they wanted,

but in the end I was successful. I always followed my way that I learned

in IER & I find it effective. To teach effectively, we must find out where

a student is and start from there. For this reason, I have to do two things

estimating a students capacity and estimating his current knowledge. I

have tried to put more stress on learning than teaching. We know when a

child is psychologically brought up in a balanced way, it is called proper

learning. Besides performing his job in the classroom, a teachers duty is

to valuing the probable present, past and future attitude of his students.

Moreover, for this statistical analysis is necessary. If one can make a

proper use of this statistical analysis in educational field realizing its

significance, then the teaching learning process will more effective.
