COMPONENT I: COMPREHENSIVE NEEDS ASSESSMENT (CNA)

DATA REVIEWED & ANALYZED:

Based on your schools NSPF results, identify what additional data have been reviewed and analyzed in development of the SPP.

School Data For General Education Including FRL English Language Learner (ELL) Data Special Education Data

Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF) Nevada School Performance Framework (NSPF)Nevada Comprehensive Audit Tool for Schools (NCCAT-S) NA NATeacher/Administrator Observation Data NA NANA NA NANA NA NAOther: Acuity (K-2) Other: Acuity (K-2) Other: Acuity (K-2)Other: NDE Validation Data Other: NDE Validation Data Other: NDE Validation Data

Summary Statement: Please provide a brief description for how the analyzed data will impact your Inquiry and Action Planning process.Based on student achievement data, Carl ES is ranked two star and Focus based on achievement gaps within the free and reduced lunch (FRL), Individualized Education Plans (IEP), and English Learner (EL) subgroups. The Carl demographic data identified Asian (4.1%), African American (22.2%), White/Caucasian (35%), Native American (.7%), Hispanic/Latino (26.6%), Multi-race (9.1%), Pacific Islander (2.4%), FRL (55.7%), IEP (14.3%), and EL (6.3%) with a total of 715 students based on 2015-2016 Official NDE Validation Data.

We conducted the NCCAT-S in November and the team met in January to analyze the data. The NCCAT-S team identified the following priorities:1.1: All instructional staff members implement a curriculum that is aligned with state standards1:2: All instructional staff members deliver the standards-based curriculum to all students

Grades K-2 have completed 2 out of 3 yearly tests in Acuity. The data has been collected and the teachers have used this data to guide classroom instruction, curriculum timelines, and instructional review. Based on Acuity Kindergarten through 2nd grade Test A and Test B Comparative Analysis to PZ. Based on our analysis our K-2 students in Range 3 and 4 are performing within 5% compared with students in Performance Zone 1. ELA data identified % of students meeting/exceeding standards: Kindergarten 67 (fall) 70 (winter), First Grade 62 (fall) 67 (winter), Second Grade 58 (fall) 62 (winter) MATH identified % of students meeting/exceeding standards: Kindergarten 67 (fall) 63 (winter), First Grade 58 (fall) 67 (winter), Second Grade 63 (fall) 68 (winter). (Please note that standards change from fall to winter to spring.)

SBAC (add)

Previously analyzed three year trend data indicate the following celebrations: According to the NSPF, ELL students improved from 0% proficient in 2012 to 35% proficient in 2014 in reading. In math, students in the subpopulation two or more races improved from 69% proficient in 2012 to 86% proficient in 2014. Concerns: According to the School Growth Summary for math, the total Median Growth Percentile for 4th and 5th grade students decreased from 55 in 2012 to 50 in 2013 and then to 41 in 2014. According to the School Growth Summary for reading, among students below proficiency,41% were projected to become proficient within three years in 2012. This percentage decreased to 29% in 2013 and 29% again in 2014. This could be attributed to a need for data-driven instruction.

COMPONENT IV: REQUIRED ELEMENTS FOR TITLE I SCHOOLS:

Title I Schools operating a Schoolwide Program must complete Items 1 through 5 on this page.

1. Describe the school's strategies to attract effective, highly-qualified teachers to your school. To attract and retain highly-qualified teachers to our school we take an active part in the hiring and curricular decisions; give frequent feedback on lessons and classroom management; provide on-going professional development opportunities; common planning time to facilitate teacher collaboration; teachers are given grade-level materials and access to technology.

 2. Describe the school's strategies to increase family engagement in accordance with Section 1118 of NCLB (see resource link), such as family literacy services and the provision to parents on how the school will share academic information in a language they understand.Communication between the school and home is provided in English & Spanish as needed via handbooks, newsletters, website, Parentlink, & formal & informal meetings as needed. Through this communication parents are informed of the school’s: curriculum, activities, achievement, and policies. Access to Infinite Campus and progress reports, progress reports are sent home twice monthly informing families of their student’s progress. Family literacy and math nights are provided to assist parents.

 3. Describe the school's plans for transition and articulation between school programs (ie: assisting preschool children from early childhood programs such as Head Start, Even Start, or a state-run preschool program to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle to high school, etc.).We maintain communication with families of preschoolers through: handbooks, newsletters, website, Parentlink, & formal and informal meetings. Parents are informed of the school’s: curriculum, activities, achievement, and policies. Scheduled visits to kindergarten, home-learning activities, & information to parents on kindergarten registration & early registration. Fifth grade students have departmentalized classrooms, field trips & have lessons on middle school transitions & magnet schools.

 4. Identify the measures that include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments.Grade levels set norms & meeting protocols, establish weekly agendas, and meet to address student achievement through data analysis in their weekly PLC meetings. Grade levels address 4 guiding questions: What do we want all students to learn; how will we know if they have learned; how do we respond when the students don’t learn; how do we respond when students are ready for more? The PLC team collaborates on weekly and long term goals and Indicators for each subject.

 5. Provide assurance that federal, state, and local services are coordinated and integrated into the school improvement effortsAll funds provided to the school were used in creating the School Performance Plan. Title I funds provided instructional supplies, technology, professional development, and family engagement materials and supplies. PASS plan funds were used for after-school tutoring for students in math.
