ASIA PACIFIC RELIGIONS Our graduate track in Asia Pacific Religions trains students in the histories, practices, and texts of premodern, modern, and contemporary religions of the Asia Pacific region. We emphasize interdisciplinary and transnational scholarship, as well as close work with colleagues in Asia. Incoming students are expected to acquire advanced linguistic skills in their main research language before enrollment. Six renowned research centers and programs on campus strengthen the work of our track: the USC Shinso Ito Center for Japanese Religions and Culture; the Project for Premodern Japan; the USC Korean Studies Institute; the USC U.S.-China Institute; the East Asian Studies Center; and the USC Center for Transpacific Studies. Students also benefit from the East Asian Collection at Doheny Library and from advanced language courses offered by East Asian Languages and Cultures.
