Programs in the School of EducationDepartment of Education Science
• The Department is chaired by Dr. NyougoH.Omae.
• Admits learners pursuing B.Ed (Sc).
• The Department was established in 2014 with 105 learners housed in the School of Pure and Applied Science. (SPAS).
• In 2015 the School of Education was born.
• The First Dean of the School was Dr. RukanguSimon
• The current Dean took over in 2019.

Teaching subjects
Professional subject of Education is mandatory.
A learners chooses two teaching subjects from:
1. Mathematics
2. Physics
3. Chemistry
4. Biology
5. Agriculture

approximately 200 graduates.

• Established in 2019 and Chaired by Dr. Mercy
N. Thuranira.
• The Department admitted her 100 pioneer
Bachelor of Education Arts students in 2019.
• Today the department is welcoming the over
400 students to their University of choice.

• The program is currently housed in the Department of Education Arts.
• This program is admitting her pioneer cohort of approximately 50 students this year.
• It is a pleasure to have you as our first born in this program.

General Requirements of the ProgramsAll learners in these programs are required to observe the
following:
1. Possess an advanced English dictionary and or Kamusi
2. Possess a Laptop as specified by the University.
3. Take care of personal property.
4. Always register for units/courses on offer at the beginning of every semester.
5. Ensure you always read the teaching and exam timetables correctly.
6. Attend all lectures and exams on time and do all exams as required.
7. Do your assignments on time and present them to the required authority.

9. Manage your activities well within the daily
University schedules (you’re your own boss, Note:
no bells, no assemblies, no uniform and nobody to
push you around)

Bachelors of Education (Science) and Bachelors
of Education (Arts)
• Programs regulated by Teachers Service
Commission (TSC)-prospective employer.
Other employers include county governments,
companies and public service etc.
• There is a high demand for computer and
biology/chemistry teaching personnel.

Bachelor of Communication and Journalism
A professional program training graduates to
work in the mass media industry in:
• journalism,
• media management,
• public relations and
• corporate communications.
• Specifically, these include works in: film,
television, radio, publishing, marketing in
firms, public relations, theatre among others.

• The School of Education offers teaching and training in liaison with School of:
i. Pure and Applied Sciences,
ii. Computing and Informatics,
