Newspaper: A Textual ReflectorBy Anish Dixit

Nowadays, there are a lot of mass media for us to choose from, namely television, radio, computer and newspaper. Among

the many media, why do people choose to read newspaper every day? It's because reading newspaper has a lot of benefits.

Newspapers are called “The Mirrors of the World”. They are the most powerful of all the organs of expression of the news

and views about men and the things. Newspapers are regarded by economists as a necessity of modern life. With the

growth of literacy and the development of the means of communication they are playing a very important part in the

society we live in.

Newspapers help a person with bringing on a levity of spirit. They help one getting intimate with a blind faith and

developing a love for sensationalism in the form of printed matter. The influence that newspaper has on us is almost

boundless. Wielding a lot of power and influence, they can change the government or help in punishing a criminal by simply

acquiring support of citizens and demanding justice. Because of shaping and controlling public opinion, it’s one of the major

guardians of democracy. Newspapers help us in disseminating good ideas. In newspapers we find reviews on newly published

books. We read accounts of discoveries and scientific research.

The reading of newspaper as a habit is highly rewarding. It makes us alert, knowledgeable, well-versed and well-informed

about the affairs of the world. It enables us to be in the swim of life in the country and beyond.

Newspapers are really a mirror of our world . Plain text printed on a thin paper is what one needs. We should develop this

habit of reading bedpost because in this fast pace world , one needs a better understanding of every minute event.
