Light immortal, Light divine, Visit thou these hearts of thine, And our inmost being fill. If thou take thy grace away, Nothing pure in man will stay; All his good is turned to ill. Heal our wounds, our strength renew; On our dryness pour thy dew, Wash the stains of guilt away. Bend the stubborn heart and will; Melt the frozen, warm the chill; Guide the steps that go astray. Thou, on us who evermore Thee confess and thee adore, With thy sevenfold gifts descend. Give us comfort when we die; Give us life with thee on high; Give us joys that never end. Amen. Alleluia.

Dear Parents, Teachers and Friends, This coming weekend we celebrate Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit visited Jesus’ disciples following his death and resurrection. Pentecost is the Church’s birthday, the day it was gifted with the presence of God through the Holy Spirit. It was the day the Church was given life, the life that is in us as we are entrusted to be the Church today; it is through us that God’s love is distributed throughout the world. The Church is the people of God, united and empowered by God to share God’s love with the world. However, this will occur only if we activate the potential of the Spirit within us. For most people their birthday offers the opportunity to have a think about their life over the past year and maybe set out a few achievement objectives for the coming year. Pentecost, the Church’s birthday, could be a like time to have a look at how our life is going spiritually, that is, how the Spirit is active in our life.

“Spirit of God within us, We ask You to help identify the gifts that You have given separately to each of us.

Help us to celebrate these gifts and to make positive use of them in our daily activities. Amen.”

WINTER CARNIVAL This Friday, students from Year 5 and 6 will be competing in winter sports with other schools in the region. Competitors will be bussed to and from the event on the main town oval. Parents are welcome to come and show their support for St Mary’s. MIDDLE SCHOOL EXAMS Year 9 and 10 students should now be studying and reviewing this semesters learning as they prepare for their exams which begin in Week 8, just under 2 weeks away. We wish them all the very best and expect those who have prepared well to do their best. CORAL BAY CAMP From next Wednesday, the Year 7 students, some parents and teachers will be going to Coral Bay for their Outdoor Education camp. This has been organized by PE teacher, Miss Barrett, and we wish them all the very best as they demonstrate their learnings from their Outdoor Ed lessons. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION With just over 2 weeks to go, we continue to pray for our Year 4 students who are preparing to meet Jesus for the first time in Holy Communion. The students are being very well prepared by their teacher, Mrs Durmanich, and we’re sure they’re going to have a very special day as they take this important step in their faith journeys. God Bless Mr Steve O’Halloran Principal

Woolworths has just launched their Earn & Learn program, and this year we're joining in. For those parents who aren't aware of the program, if you shop at Woolworths between 1st of May and the 25th of June, you can earn stickers. Our school will be collecting those stickers which we can then swap for new school equipment; things like art and craft supplies, sports gear, teaching aids and much more. There are thousands of things we can choose from. So for any parents who shop at Woolworths, please collect the stickers and drop them in to our collection box, which is located in Woolworths or send them to the School Office or JLC. Thanks for helping us out!

LIZ NEWTON DANCE ACADEMY, CARNAR-

VON

It’s not too late to enrol in classes at LNDA for 2019! LNDA offers a wide variety of super fun classes for boys and girls of all ages! We have: Jazz/hip hop – this is a really fun, energetic style of dance! These classes offer great fitness benefits as we start with a dynamic cardio warm up and then move into progressions and combos. The kids love these classes as many of the moves come from commercial dancing made famous in music videos and TV shows. Tap – Tap dancing is like making music with your feet! It is also excellent for improving focus, stamina, listening skills and coordination. Acrobatics – Acrobatics is a style of gymnastics that was designed specifically for stage performance. There are definite differences to traditional gymnastics because Acro it is a dance and per-formance style, but the elements of flexibility and strength are still paramount. In this class students learn to limber, balance and tumble in routines that are energetic and fun! We also use props in this class such as a tightrope, trampolines, hoola hoops, blocks and balance bars. Lyrical – Lyrical dance is derived from both ballet and jazz dance. The style is very expressive, with stu-dents ‘telling a story’ through their movements. It is a real favourite at LNDA! Boys Only Hip Hop and Acro – this class is for boys only! It is super high energy, with lots of strength and cardio based games, dance and acrobatics.

LNDA is a fun and friendly place to dance and learn. Our students are super supportive of each other. We practice kindness and encouragement, celebrating each other’s successes and helping each other to reach new achievements. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact me or to come in for a free trial of any of the classes! LNDA’s fees are very affordable; for the price of two take away coffees a week your child can be part of an awesome, inclusive and professional dance school! We also put on several fantastic performances throughout the year, which the kids love! And it’s great for their confidence and self-esteem. Hope to see you soon! Liz x
