AFTRS Teens Workshops for high school students are the perfect way to develop your skills and meet other aspiring creatives. We run a variety of courses in each of the four school holidays. Our workshops are taught by industry professionals using industry standard equipment and, where appropriate, are held in AFTRS’ state-of-the-art film, TV and radio studios. With a constantly evolving pathway of courses in filmmaking, digital animation, screenwriting and radio, you can explore and deepen your creative skills set. Our Students Say… “Great course. HSC Video Intensive: Grades 10 – 12 15 – 17 APR 2020 This course is a skill and story development workshop for emerging filmmakers tackling an individual project for the HSC. The workshop helps hone screen skills to create a high quality year 12 video project.

Writing a Short Film: Grades 9 - 12 15–17 APR 2020

Working with an experienced screen writer, learn the art of writing a short film – from initial conception through to the development of your story. This is an intensive and rewarding course if you’re interested in creative writing, writing for the screen or if you are developing screen content as part of your HSC studies.

The Real Filmmaking Workshop: Grades 7- 12 20 – 24 APR 2020

The five-day Real Filmmaking Workshop is the number one filmmaking workshop for young people in Australia. It is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a group of creative young people for a ‘real filmmaking experience’.

Video Editing with Premiere Pro: Grades 7 - 12 20–21 APR 2020 Are you interested in learning how to edit your own videos? This hands-on practical course will teach you the basics of editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, part of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.

Teens Digi Animation: Grades 7- 12 15–17 APR 2020 If you’re inspired by animated films such as The Lego Movie and the Pixar library then this is the course for you. Working with an industry professional, you will learn digital animation skills to advance your animation journey.
