having difficulty meeting the payments, please see the office to arrange a payment plan and ensure your child doesn’t miss out on valuable learning.

ARRIVING AT SCHOOL

Could I please remind parents and carers that if children arrive before 8.25am to school, even with a parent or carer, they are required to go to the undercover area where they will be supervised and released to class at 8.25am. This allows children to meet friends and talk socially, put in canteen orders and receive instructions prior to going to class. Equally important, at the end of the day children are not permitted on play equipment even if they are with a parent. Not all children have a parent with them and their safety is at risk if not being supervised. Children wait at the gate with a teacher and are taken to the office from 3.15pm onwards. It does cause concern for children if they are picked up late and I ask you to be prompt at the end of the day.

Regards, Steve Richards, Principal

SCOOTER

One of our students had his black and gold scooter taken

from our bike racks last week and we would all really

like it returned. As there was a scooter left behind on the

same day, we are asking parents to please check that

their children have picked up their own scooters. If you

have any information, please call the school on 9398

7233 or visit the office. Thank you.

Dear Parents/Carers

I have had the pleasure of attending swimming lessons a couple of times this week. The students are in the water and trying hard to master the tasks given to them by their swim instructors. The smiles we are seeing and the enjoyment the students are having is a delight to watch. I would also like to acknowledge our staff, both Teachers and Education Assistants, who volunteer to go in the water during lessons. This is not a requirement of their role and is purely on a volunteer basis. Whilst the swim school do allocate extra staff for our students and do an amazing job, without the support of our school staff in the water our swimming program would not be as successful as it is. Please take time to acknowledge the staff in your child’s class who go above and beyond to ensure the swimming program be successful. Please remember if you are visiting the pool to watch, you must enter via the main entrance. We request you sit in the background and observe without interrupting the lesson. Pool staff has requested parents do not take photos. We have coordinated for the school to take photos and in due time you will be given copies of these after we have displayed them in our admin area.

Starting next week, we will have the addition of two prac teaching students from the University of Notre Dame in our school. Mr Adam White will be in B5 and Mr Rhys Jones will be in TLC. Both students will be with us for the remainder of the term.

Last Friday, the Mayor of the City of Gosnells Mr Glenn Dewhurst, Mrs Danielle Antaki from the Constable Care Safety School and Constable Care himself visited to present us with our prize of a free excursion out to the Constable Care Safety School in Maylands. Local newspaper representatives from The Comment News and The Examiner also came to take photos. From what I understand, these will be published in this week’s editions of both papers. Make sure you keep an eye out for the articles featuring our school. We will be visiting the Safety School on Monday, 18 June. Details will be sent home in a couple of weeks.

Don’t forget, Monday 4 June is a Public Holiday and there will be no school on this date.

Kind regards

Julie Dawson

P&C Report

Hi everyone

Thanks to all who supported us at the City of Gosnells Families Week event on Monday afternoon. It was great fun and we raised some money for the school by selling drinks and having a “guess the number of lollies” competition. Needless to say, it was a popular game, but not as popular as the kitten we adopted for the afternoon! We are now busy planning for the Moonlight Markets on Friday 16 Novem-ber. Please speak to your class teacher about how you can help put on a great fund-raising stall for your child’s class. Pinterest and Google are great for ideas!

The P&C held its AGM on Monday 14 May. Unfortunately we did not have any new parents or carers come along which I’ll admit was a little disappointing.

To be a successful P&C we need your help. We all lead busy lives but this is one area where you can make a big difference. The P&C members are busy people too – we all work, have several children and even help out on other committees but we find the time to help for one reason – the kids. If you have ever thought you would like to be on the P&C, now is the time because we need your help. In a school of approx. 450 students, we only have seven parents on the P&C. There must be more of you out there who can help. Our next meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday 18 June in the staffroom. We still have the position of Secretary vacant or you can be a general committee member. The secretary does the meeting agendas and minutes, and the mail. You don’t need any experience or special skills. We are happy to teach you what to do, plus it’s great experience for you to include on your resume. Don’t be shy – we’re all new to this, just like you.

The new committee is:

President – Sonya Kimbar (Callum, Jasper and Verity’s Mum)

1st

Vice President – Rebecca McBride (Chloe’s Mum and Canteen Manager)

2nd

Vice President – Pennie Njuguna (Isaac and Naomi’s Mum)

Treasurer – Henriette Truscett (Imogen’s Mum)

Secretary – vacant

Committee member – Denise Lyons (Cameron’s Mum and Clothing Pool Manager)

Committee member – Emi-leigh Edwards (Jack and Cooper’s Mum)

Committee member – Meg Betty (Izaak and Abigale’s Mum)

Committee member – vacant

Reminders of Unpaid Billing Items

These were sent home to families this week. Please ensure prompt payment of outstanding charges. Charges represent additional student activities to be paid by the parent. Your decision to pay the voluntary contribution greatly enhances the educational programs we are able to offer. Thank you to all families who have paid.
