10 Tips on Winning a Scholarship 1. Start searching for scholarships as soon as possible. Don't wait until spring of your senior year in high school to start searching, or you'll miss half the deadlines. Continue searching for scholarships even after you are enrolled in college. Consider this like a full time job. 2. Answer all of the optional questions on a scholarship matching web site for about twice as many matches. 3. Use a free scholarship matching service like Fastweb.com. The Fastweb database is updated daily, and the site will email you notifications of new scholarships that match your personal background profile. www.cappex.com and www.studentscholarhips.org are also very good. 4. Pick up applications for local scholarships in Ms. Gilman’s office (when available) or the financial aid offices of local colleges & universities, and check out the public library's jobs and careers section. 5. Apply to every scholarship for which you are eligible. Pursue less competitive scholarships, such as small awards and essay contests, since they are easier to win and the money adds up and helps you win bigger scholarships. 6. Don't miss deadlines. Use a calendar and checklist to get organized. 7. Tailor your application to the sponsor's goals. Read and follow the instructions carefully. 8. If you have difficulty writing essays, try recording yourself as you answer the question out loud, and transcribe the recording later. Most people can think and speak faster than they can write or type. Create an outline afterward to organize your thoughts. 9. Personalize your essay and be passionate. Write about something of interest to you. Make your application stand out from the crowd. Talk about your impact on other people. Give examples and be specific.

10. Google your name and make sure you have a professional online profile. Use a professional email address such as your Coral Reef email. Daughters of the American Revolution National Society The NSDAR awards multiple scholarships to students showing dedication to the pursuit of an undergraduate degree in one of the following areas: history,

NROTC Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements

The Navy adheres to strict moral, physical and academic standards. This applies to students in the NROTC program. Here is a list of some of the basic

requirements to apply for the program. You must:

• Be a U.S. citizen

• Be not less than 17 years old by September 1 of year starting college and no more than 23 on June 30 of that year

• Not have reached your 27th birthday by June 30 of the year in which your graduation and commissioning are anticipated

• Have acquired a high school graduation or equivalency certificate by August 1 of the year you plan to enter the NROTC program

• Have no moral obligations or personal convictions that prevent conscientious bearing of arms and supporting and defending the Constitution of the

With the Stokes Program, you work during the summer at NSA in areas related to your course of study. If you are selected as a program participant, you

RELATIONS. Applicant must have an adult “supporter” – teacher, advisor, community/religious leader or other adult who can attest to and support the

applicant’s work in race relations.

The Princeton Prize in Race Relations recognizes and rewards high school students who have had a significant positive effect on race relations in their

schools or communities through their volunteer efforts.

Prize recipients receive a cash prize of $1,000 and an all-expenses-paid weekend to a Symposium on Race at Princeton University where they will meet

and engage with other Prize recipients from across the country. Prize recipients are recognized at ceremonies in their local regions by Princeton alumni.

Emory Scholars Program To be considered, students must be nominated by the appropriate official at their school and complete an application for admission by November 1, 2011.

Full Sail Emerging Technology Scholarship Full Sail University is seeking accomplished students who are interested in pursuing a career in the technology industry. Our new Emerging Technology

Scholarship will award eligible Full Sail candidates a full-tuition scholarship toward a qualified Bachelor of Science degree program. To help you identify

potential candidates, we’ve listed some of the entry requirements below:

• Graduate from a Florida high school in 2020 or 2021 (Florida 2020 or 2021 homeschool graduates are eligible to apply).

NEW!!! Maryville College’s McGill Scholarships Maryville College is accepting applications for full-tuition scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year, through the McGill Scholarship Program.

Established in 2018 with a gift from the estate of Dan and Elaine McGill, the McGill Scholarship Program offers the most prestigious awards available to

incoming freshmen and transfer students who enroll at MC.

The Dan and Melanie Mays McGill Scholarship, named for Dr. McGill and his daughter, will be awarded to five outstanding incoming freshmen. The

scholarship covers tuition and is renewable for up to four years of full-time study with an annual GPA of 3.25.

McGill Fellowships recognize the academic accomplishments and leadership abilities of 20 incoming freshmen and five transfer students. Valued at

$4,000 each year, the Fellowships are awarded in addition to the Presidential Scholarship and are renewable for up to four years of full-time study with

an annual GPA of 3.0. McGill Fellows are selected from the McGill Scholarship applicant pool.

To qualify for these awards, incoming freshman students must have a combined minimum 30 ACT superscore or 1390 SAT superscore and a minimum 3.8

high school weighted GPA. Applicants also should have demonstrated leadership abilities. The application process, which must be concluded by Dec. 1,

includes applying for admission to Maryville College and submitting an online scholarship application via their application portal, two teacher

recommendation letters and an essay on a given topic.

Select applicants will be invited to the College’s Scholarship Weekend in January, when they will meet other prospective scholars and be interviewed by

members of the Maryville College community. If students are unable to travel to campus for Scholarship Weekend, interviews may be conducted by video

conferencing. Awards will be offered by March 15, 2020.

McGill Scholars and McGill Fellows are required to live on campus and participate in a living-learning community of other scholars and fellows for at least

two years. They also must commit to four semesters of service as an academic mentor.

Application Process:

• Apply and be admitted into Maryville College. (Applications for admission will be available online after Aug. 1, 2019.)

• Once a student has been admitted they will be given the opportunity, via their Admissions portal, to submit the scholarship application, along with

two teacher recommendation letters and an essay on a given topic. The deadline is Dec. 1, 2019.

The J. Ollie Edmunds Distinguished Scholarship Program is a nationally competitive merit-based college scholarship program that attracts top student
