What is a Paragraph?
A Paragraph is a group of sentences that share a common idea. It is written about a
certain topic, just like friends usually share a common interest.
Paragraphs often include examples or evidence to support a topic, idea, or opinion. It's
kind of like when you want your parents to buy you a certain toy, so you list several
reasons why they should buy it.
Paragraph organizer
Topic sentence
A topic sentence gives a general overview of what the paragraph will cover, and it's usually
placed at the start of the paragraph. It introduces an idea, topic, or opinion that will be
explained throughout the rest of the paragraph.
What is a Body of a Paragraph?
The body of the paragraph is the main part of the paragraph. It tells readers what the
paragraph is about, supporting sentences discuss the idea or ideas in the topic
sentence, using examples and/or evidence to support that discussion.
• Conclusion
A conclusion is the very end of a piece of writing, and it usually summarizes the main
points of an argument or demonstrates an opinion about a topic.

3. Short Answer Questions:
(a) Seasons play an important role in our lives. They influence our lifestyle, food, clothes,
types of houses we live in and even our occupations.
(b) When we move away from Equator towards the poles, Sun's rays begin to slant, and they
spread over a larger area. We receive minimum heat from the Sun. Therefore, the
temperature decreases as we move from Equator towards the poles.
(c) A cool breeze which blows from land to sea is called land breeze while the cool breeze
that blows from sea to land is called sea breeze.
(d) Areas falling under Temperate Zone have a moderate climate because they are far away
from the Equator.
(e) The Torrid zone lies on both sides of the Equator and extends up to Tropic of Cancer in
the north and the Tropic of Capricorn in the south. It is also called the Tropical Zone. Areas
falling under this zone remain hot and humid all through the year. This is because the Sun's
rays fall directly over these areas.
