The Enduring Farmlands Scenic Byway showcases routes through the historic towns of Hawkinsville, Pineview, Ro-chelle, and Abbeville as well as the sur-rounding countryside. In viewing the peaceful rural character and pastoral landscapes of this 65-mile byway in Pu-laski and Wilcox Counti es, travelers can observe the small town agricultural heritage sti ll prevalent in this region of the state, and appreciate the eff orts these citi es and counti es have made to maintain the character of their rural lifestyle while allowing a viable future for their residents.

SCENIC PLACES
The route is lined with scenic pecan groves, horse and cattle pasture lands, and agricultural fields providing travelers the opportunity to view active farming of corn, cotton, peanuts and soybeans, which have been an economic mainstay in Pulaski and Wilcox counties for over two hundred years. Byway travelers will also experience the farms and vernacular architecture found along the route, showcasing the history of agriculture that is of great signifi cance in this area of middle Georgia.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL FEATURES
Historically Creek Indian territory, both Pulaski and Wilcox Counti es are rich in Nati ve American arti facts due to the many Creek sett lements that once existed along the banks of the Ocmulgee River. The enti re area has abundant archaeo-logical potenti al, parti cularly along the Ocmulgee River. Interpretati ve Signage at Mile Branch Landing showcases this Nati ve American heritage from 7500 BC - Present. (7)
