The Scarab Mistral is a versatile Road Sweeper suited for municipal, urban and contracting work and is designed for mounting on a truck chassis in the 12-15 tonne range. The Mistral is mounted on an Automatic cab chassis and the Scarab sweeping system is powered from a QSB 3.3L Cummins Auxiliary engine. With the ability to combine different chassis and hoppers, the Scarab Mistral is a powerhouse Road Sweeper which will fit seamlessly into your existing fleet.

Automatic DriveThe Scarab Mistral is designed for operators preferring a twin engine configuration whilst seeking the latest in first class sweeping technology. With an extensive range of features as standard, the Scarab Mistral is the sweeper of choice amongst many operators. Utilising a simple fluid power system, alongside Scarab’s industry leading Version 3.1 CANbus operating system, thus reduces ownership costs to ensure this economical addition to your fleet delivering maximum reliability.

Hydraulic SystemComprising of one axial piston pump, with automatic control of output and pressure, the hydraulic system drives the suction fan and two gear pumps to provide working pressure for all hydraulic services. The system is piped in zinc plated steel tubing where practical and is protected by 10 micron filters to ensure long component life. The system’s oil is cooled via a heat exchanger with a hydraulically driven high performance fan, ensuring optimum cooling under the most arduous working conditions and high ambient temperatures. Hydraulic control valves are located in positions designed to enable easy servicing in a protected compartment. All hydraulic services, including the rear door closure, can be operated from the cabs’ internal control panels. Directly coupled to the auxiliary engine, the Scarab Mistral’s fluid drive system eliminates drive belts, gearboxes and flywheel couplings, ensuring efficient, reliable sweeping and suction performance.

Command & Control - Version 3.1 CANbusThe Scarab Mistral’s unique Version 3.1 CANbus system is an industry leading innovation available only on Rosmech’s Scarab products, revolutionising sweeper operation and maintenance. Intuitive controls and a conveniently positioned colour monitor, provide comprehensive levels of feedback to both operating and service personnel. A graphical display indicates the sweeping configuration and conditions of the vehicle systems, inclusive of warnings and service reminders. Real time monitoring and data logging facilities provide valuable assistance in fault diagnosis and maintaining optimum machine performance. The Scarab Mistral’s Version 3.1 CANbus system includes universal connectors for fitting of Global Positioning Systems (GPS). A compact panel contains all controls required for operating the sweeper. Real-time diagnostic information is received on the sweeper’s digital display panel. An additional satellite control panel for frequently used operations is mounted conveniently and ergonomically incorporates the forward/reverse selector. With reliability paramount to Rosmech’s design, the Version 3.1 CANbus system’s control nodes are located in a dedicated and weatherproof electrical equipment locker mounted on the centre console.

Low Pressure Water PumpUtilising a self priming pump fitted with a suction filter, driven by a direct drive hydraulic motor to provide the utmost efficiency, the water supply and levels are controlled directly from the main control panel within the Scarab Mistral’s cabin, supplying water directly to brushes and suction nozzles. The water pump’s output is rated at 36 litres/minute @ 50psi (3.5bar).

The dynamically balanced 900mm diameter suction fan is mounted in the top of the debris hopper and as with all Scarab sweepers, is powered by a load sensing pump to provide the greatest performance and efficiency, whilst minimising noise levels for increased operator safety and comfort. The impeller is a highly efficient multi blade centrifugal unit, producing a nominal airflow of 170m3/min. Mounting the fan on the hopper roof creates a virtually straight airflow from the suction nozzles, making the Scarab Mistral extremely efficient and significantly reducing power consumption requirements. Further to the Standard Mode for everyday sweeping, the Scarab Mistral provides a Boost Mode to significantly increase suction power for arduous conditions.

Providing superior control, the Scarab Mistral utilises a 650mm diameter steel lined quick change brush with a direct drive hydraulic motor, fitted in a trailed linkage with kick back protection and pneumatic ram for variable in/out control. The entire assembly is adjustable for brush angle control and provides variable brush speeds with optional vertical brush pressure control available if required. To assist with night operations, LED work lights are fitted to ensure excellent visibility in all working conditions.

Comprising of a 400mm diameter (dependent upon individual unit specifications) replaceable polypropylene segments and powered by a direct drive hydraulic motor, the assembly is fitted with shock absorbers to prevent bounce and deliver parallel and even brush wear. Variable brush speeds are provided as standard, with an optional up and down brush pressure control as standard.

Standard FeaturesSuction NozzleEntirely steel construction, the 740mm wide (LHS & RHS) suction nozzle is mounted to a trailed frame running on 250mm diameter rubber tyres and fitted with adjustable rubber flaps and a skid plate. A 250mm diameter suction hose connects the nozzle to the hopper, combined with a ground clearance between 25-30mm resulting in incredible component durability and minimal adjustments required. To provide internal dust suppression, adjustable water spray jets are fitted to the nozzles to ensure a safe working environment is maintained. Additional High Pressure water injection nozzles are available if required, alongside an optional 4 Jet Water Boost Bar for usage in dry, dusty, extreme conditions. A tilting mechanism, controlled by a hydraulic ram, enables the suction nozzle to accommodate large objects such as cardboard boxes, or autumn leaf accumulation, with ease.

BrushesTo deliver time management efficiency, the Scarab Mistral provides dual sweep ability allowing independent use of both side brushes with super sweep capabilities. To compliment Australian conditions, Rosmech fits Electric Tilt onto the left hand side gutter broom as standard, with right hand side Electric Tilt offered as an additional option. Power Thrust (up and down pressure) to the left hand side brush is also provided by Rosmech as standard on all Scarab Mistral sweepers, with right hand side installation available as an option.

The Hopper - 6.2m3 Gross VolumeManufactured from corrosion and abrasion resistant Stainless Steel, the Scarab Mistral’s hopper boasts a hefty 6.2m3 Gross Volume, offering a large 5.5m3 Net Hopper Payload Volume. The hopper is fitted with large access doors on either side and a reinforced rear door with heavy duty seals. Incorporated into the rear door is an automatic closure system, clamping the door shut at three individual points to ensure a watertight seal, rear door drains allow the hopper body to be drained of excess water with ease when required. All suction inlet tubes are fitted with automatic blanking flaps with an easy to clean swing down filter screen mounted to the top of the hopper immediately below the suction fan. A complimentary storage compartment is provided, located on the left and right hand sides of the body, to store your additional hand-held equipment. Fitted with a two stage anti-burst tipping ram, the hopper is designed to facilitate rapid load discharge.

Pneumatic System

Rosmech’s Scarab Mistral’s water tank has a 1250 litre capacity, manufactured from corrosion resistant stainless steel. Conveniently, this unit is filled by hydrant connections with a regulation syphon break and back-flow prevention gap. Furthermore, the tank is fitted with a sight glass level indicator for external observation when filling. An in cab monitor informs the operator when the water tank is empty.

Low and easy to access doors are fitted to either side of the hopper for hand loading bulky items and also providing additional access for cleaning inside of the hopper.

The pneumatic system is connected to the vehicle auxiliary air supply and is fitted with a pressure regulator, filter/water separator and pneumatic solenoid valves to control the side brush, wide sweep brush and suction nozzle. To assist with servicing and ensure safety, pneumatic control valves and solenoids are located in a dedicated, weatherproof locker.

Compact HeightEach Scarab Mistral cabin boasts a very low clearance height, allowing operators to easy enter and descend from the cab.

A low profile overhead boom is fitted to the right hand side of the machine. All options are fitted to the lowest locations on the left hand side of the unit, offering the best performance and highest operator safety.

Auxiliary EngineSelected for its low emissions, the Cummins auxiliary engine provides ample power at low revolutions. Designed for operator comfort and safety, the auxiliary engine is strategically positioned between the hopper and water tank to reduce in-cab noise levels. This easily accessible position provides convenient accessibility to service points on a large, stable, working platform. The Cummins QSB 3.3L Stage IIIA with High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) direct injection 4.0 litre capacity diesel fuel system provides 74kW @ 2200rpm, 412Nm @ 1400rpm coupled to Scarab’s unique fluid drive system to power all sweeping functions eliminating the need for complex drive belts arrangements or gearboxes. The auxiliary unit is fuelled by a dedicated diesel fuel tank of 115 litres capacity. An easy access working platform is also built for easy servicing and access to the auxiliary engine.
