    SCANNING ON THE UNIVERSITY PRINTERS

    1. Insert your USB stick into the USB port located between the card scanner and the screen.

    You can scan on the University’s multi functional devices to a USB stick, your Home Folder (storage space on the University’s server) or your UCA email.

    3. To give your scans a name, press the File Name field.

    2. Log in and press Scan to USB.

    7. You will see the file location in the Stored to field.

    4. Type the name and press OK.

    All files scanned in this session will start with your chosen title, followed by sequential numbers.

    6. The folders on your USB device should display. Press the folder you wish to save the scans to and press OK.

    8. To choose if your scans are colour or black and white, press the Colour Mode button.

    5. The file will save directly into your USB stick. If you would like it to save into a folder (this folder must already exist), press on the Stored To: field.

    9. Select either Full Colour or Greyscale. If you are scanning a black and white image, it is always worth scanning in Greyscale as it will take up less space on your USB device.

    Press OK.

    10. To change the image quality, press Resolution.

    12. By default your scan will be saved as a PDF, to change this press File Format.

    11. Select your chosen resolution.

    Press OK.

    13. You can now choose JPEG, DOCX or TIFF.

    14. If you are scanning a PDF, DOCX or TIFF and do not want all of the pages saved in one document, make sure you put a tick in the Specified Pages per File field. This will save a separate file for each scan.

    Press OK.

    15. To tell the MFD what the settings of your document are, press Original.

    16. If the file you are scanning is anything other than A4 or A3, you may wish to set an original size. This is because the scanner may incorrectly judge the original size and crop some of the image off.

    To set this, press the Auto button below Scan Size.

    17. Select either A4 or A3 depending on which is the next size bigger than your original document.

    Press OK.

    18. If you are using the document feeder on the top of the scanner and your original document is double sided, choose 2-Sided Tablet to insure you scan both sides of the original.

    Press OK.

    19. When you are happy with your settings, press Start.

    If using the flatbed, the first page will be scanned.

    If using the document feeder, all pages in the feeder will be scanned.

    20. If you have finished scanning, press Read-End and the file will be saved. If you still have pages to scan, replace the page in the scanner and press Scan until you have finished, then press Read-End.

    When it has finished saving, press Logout and then remove your memory stick.

    HOME FOLDER (USERAREA)

    1. Log in and press Papercut Scanning.

    2. Press Scan to Home Folder.

    3. A folder called Scans will be saved automatically within your Home Folder and the images you scan will save there. You can not change the location.

    To choose your scan settings press Settings.

    4. The settings on the left refer to the original document your are scanning, the ones on the right are the settings for the scan.

    When you are happy, with your document placed on the flatbed or within the document feeder, press Start.

    5. If you have more documents to scan, replace the document in the scanner and press Scan more.

    6. If you have finished, press Send and the files will save.

    Remember, the files are saved within a folder called Scans, located in your Home Folder.

    UCA EMAIL

    3. You can only scan to your UCA email, this can not be changed.

    Your email will automatically have the subject “Your Scan (Scan to My Email)”, if you wish to change this, press the Subject Field.

    5. To change the title of your scans, press the Filename filed.

    4. Type in a new subject and press OK.
