Saxon Hotel

Located in the peaceful gardens adjacent to the Saxon Hotel, the Saxon Villas are our exclusive boutique offering. These Villas offer our guests the unparalleled ambience of boutique-style accommodation with all the services of a larger hotel.

Each individual Villa has its own lounge and dining room with seating for up to 18 guests. The full seating, breakfast area and bar lead out to the private plunge pool on the terrace overlooking the gardens. Villa Two and Three both have private Spa Suites which can be booked for complete relaxation and to reward the senses. Guests of Villa One are also welcome to book one of these private Spa Suites.

This is the ideal private retreat in a garden setting if you prefer to be away from the main Hotel. Our guests may choose to have breakfast and dine throughout the day in the Villa or on the plunge pool terrace, or alternatively at the main Hotel pool terrace or restaurants. The secluded seating areas and lounges of the Villas offer quiet exclusivity away from the general activities of the Saxon Hotel. Villa guests are still able to participate and enjoy all the facilities of the Saxon, including rejuvenating visits to the Saxon Spa.

Saxon Villas

The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa is an extension of your home. Available to all guests and families staying at the Hotel and the Villas, the butler service will exceed all expectations. Warm and personal consideration is evident from the moment you arrive. Efficient yet unhurried, the Butlers are on hand at all times to assist with packing and unpacking, information and advice, from personalised wake-up calls to the evening turn-down, adding the final touches to your suites for your personal comfort.

Personal shopping, travel arrangements or meet and greet at our international airport are all part of the exclusive and personalised experience. Our Butlers are truly of a new generation, combining personal discretion with an efficiency that our guests would expect.

As a guest of the Saxon you may choose to stay in one of the luxuriously elegant suites in the main Hotel, or you may prefer the exclusivity of the more private Villa suites.

The Saxon is your home for the duration of your time spent with us. Whether you choose one of the exceptional Luxury Suites, Presidential Suites, or the stately Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite in the main Hotel, you are assured of the ultimate refinement that leaves nothing to be desired.

Every detail is considered to ensure your absolute comfort, including the world’s finest linens, opulent robes and slippers, and abundant fresh white towels. The suites are made up and turned down daily and a newspaper is delivered to your door every morning.

Luxury Suites Drenched in warm African sunlight, and luxuriously furnished, the

Luxury Suites exude an atmosphere of elegant tranquillity. Serene in

marble and light wood, the décor brings in subtle geometric prints

and plush furnishings.

walk-in shower. The open plan layout includes a lounge and

dining area with business desk and iPod docking station. The

Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite Enter the magnificent Nelson Mandela Platinum Suite via a glass-

enclosed elevator and experience unequalled luxury. The stately

African décor of this premier suite is the epitome of the style and

elegance for which the Saxon is renowned.

This stately suite features an entrance, guest bathroom, guest suite,

separate lounge, dining room and business area with business desk

and iPod docking station. The master bedroom has a king size four-

poster bed, separate bathroom with Jacuzzi bath, walk-in shower

and steam room. There is a fully equipped butler’s kitchen and

24-hour butler service. The suite offers views of the gardens and

The Saxon Villa Suites offer guests the total privacy and exclusivity

of a small boutique hotel in a tranquil, secluded garden setting.

Each Villa has its own quiet breakfast area, dining and lounge area

for the guests to enjoy, as well as the privacy of the plunge pool and

cool terraces.

An architecturally designed skywalk with treetop views leads from

the Saxon Villas to the main Saxon Hotel, where guests can enjoy all

the facilities and services of the main Hotel.

Villa Suites

Villa Luxury Suites Furnished in elegant contemporary style with natural textures,

stone cladding and wood, the suite has a king size bed, separate

bathroom with bath, dual sink and walk-in stone clad shower. The

open plan layout includes a seating and dining area with business

desk and iPod docking station. There is a dedicated butler service

Villa Presidential SuitesThe luxurious contemporary décor exudes an atmosphere of

tranquillity. The suite offers a king size four-poster bed, separate

docking station, as well as a guest bathroom, separate lounge,

dining room and fully equipped butler’s kitchen with butler service.

Saxon Luxury Villas The three stand-alone Saxon Luxury Villas offer the ultimate African hospitality and can be booked in their entirety for sole use by our guests who prefer the privacy and exclusivity of a garden setting. Each Villa has a main lounge and dining room in addition to a breakfast area and bar, with dedicated 24-hour butler service and chef. The Villa guests can enjoy the privacy of the terrace and plunge pool overlooking the gardens, or alternatively make use of the main Hotel facilities. A private elevator leads from the parking area to each of the Villas.

There are seven Villa Luxury Suites in the single storey Villa One. The double storey Villa Two and Villa Three each offers seven Villa Luxury Suites downstairs, as well as four Villa Presidential Suites upstairs. The elegant suites in the Villas are appointed with a king size bed, separate bathroom with bath, dual sink and walk-in stone clad shower. Celebrating a legendEighteen05 was named in honour of Johnnie Walker, the original

founding father of the legendary whisky brand. On entering the

Eighteen05 Bar, one senses that this is a modern interpretation of a

bygone era, expressed to perfection by its interior.

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label 1805 Celebration Blend Whisky was

specially created by their Master Blender to commemorate the 200th

anniversary of the birth of John Walker on 25 July 1805. It was made

using the world’s best whiskies.This limited edition of 200 bottles is

not available for retail sale, and they have been presented to 200

recipients deemed to have made the most significant contribution

to modern life. The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa is proud to have

been chosen as one of these honoured recipients.

Olive BarThe stylish, sophisticated Olive Bar, leading off the Terrace and just past the impressive Koi pond, is ideal for enjoying sundowners and cocktails. This is the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks before moving on to Qunu Restaurant or Luke Dale Roberts X the Saxon.

Cigar LoungeThe Cigar Lounge with its extensive library is an intimate, sophisticated after-dinner retreat for lingering over a good cigar and your favourite single malt. The art of a really excellent cigar lies in that it satisfies all the senses, from the look, feel and aroma to the taste that lingers on the palate. A good cigar is like tasting a good wine; you smell it, you taste it, you look at it, you feel it and you can even hear it. For all cigar smoking the rule is: sip the cigar like a wine tasting, roll the smoke around in your mouth to savour the flavour, and then let it out gently.

Deep within the heart of the Saxon lie the Wine Cellars. Our Sommeliers’ extensive knowledge of wines enhances the enjoyment of our guests’ culinary experiences. The Sommeliers spend a great deal of their time in the Cellars, testing and tasting the wide range of proudly South African wines as well as classic international vintages to ensure that the perfect wine is paired with every meal.

Sarapana, our extensive rooftop garden, is a hidden treasure that serves as a constant source of inspiration for the Saxon Chefs in creating innovative dishes. At sunrise our Chefs visit the vegetable garden to handpick the day’s ingredients which will inspire the seasonal menus. It is an established part of their daily routine to spend some time tending to the garden and do forward planning. They take great care in selecting and picking the freshest fruit, herbs and vegetables.

Combining passion, expertise and the latest global gourmet food trends, the Chefs take guests on an experiential journey to explore the emotive culinary relationships between food and wine.
