❖ POV - Throws the audience in the scene - allows us to empathise with the soldiers.

❖ Close up shots - Places us close to the action and lets us see the emotional intensity of the performances.

❖ Underwater shot - Creates distortion, builds tension, gives a different visual element.

❖ Frame is constantly filled with explosions, frantic movement and blood splattering.

Editing

❖ Fast cuts - Creates a fast pace, too quick for the viewer to take in, unsettles/ replicates the chaos of battle.

❖ Slow motion - Creates feelings of distortion/ Builds tension/ Shows disorder from a dramatic perspective

Lighting

❖ No supplementary lighting for dramatic effect. Only what is necessary.

❖ Aims to be realistic

❖ Blue/grey grade - reflects a depressing and unwelcoming tone

Sound

❖ packed with diegetic sound (Screams, explosions, gunfire)

Summation

The sense of chaos, distortion, and fear is created through the use of camera, lighting, sound and acting. The entire sequence is packed full of action, making this an exciting and inspiring piece of film, leaving the viewer on the edge of their seat.
