One Smartphone Trend

Apple’s iPhones are currently bucking a negative trend…

Slowing smartphone sales.

According to Gartner, growth of smartphone sales in Q2 2015 were

as slow as they were in 2013.

Samsung’s smartphone unit

sales dropped 5.3%…

Meanwhile, Apple surged.

The iPhone maker saw its smartphone unit sales increase by

36%.

There are two things contributing to Apple’s growth.

First: Samsung can’t keep up with Apple’s smartphone demand.1

Despite the launch of new S6 models, Samsung's premium phones continued to be challenged by Apple's large-screen iPhones.

Apple's double-digit growth in the high-end segment continued to negatively impact its rivals' premium phone sales and profit margins. Many vendors had to realign their portfolios to remain competitive in the midrange and low-end smartphone segments.

In short, Apple has benefited from Samsung’s inability to sell high-end

devices.

Second: Apple is winning in China.2

While smartphone sales in China are falling…

Apple is moving in the opposite direction. Gartner says the

company’s sales increased by 68% in the country in Q2 2015.
