SWAN admission…What does that mean?

If a class is offered with a “SWAN Admission”this means that Jan & Lou are giving

you a special reduced price for the class. It’s another way we thank you for

taking classes and for shopping at JLC.

BrigadoonNo matter how many times we see a “Brigadoon’” project, we are enchanted! Fast, fun, full of terrific design opportunities – this quilt top is stunning in two colors! We encourage you to begin with the medallion-style set for class, but we know that once you’ve done that, there’s no stopping you! PERMISSION 2 PLAY Living Well with Cancer & Healing Through Quilting

Binding BasicsWe’ve all been there – we’ve created a beautiful quilt top, gotten it nicely quilted, and then been frustrated that the binding just doesn’t lay right, or the corners are, well, more like lumps than corners. If you’ve ever been frustrated by binding that just doesn’t look like you wanted it to, this class is for you! Cathy will lead you through creating a neat, even binding that doesn’t pull or ripple. We’ll start with preparing your quilt, cover choosing and making straight and bias bindings, and practice joining ends and turning corners. You will leave class with skills to create beautiful bindings that will enhance your quilts.

Glacier Star/ Mariner’s Compass

Session II Techniques SeriesThis series provides an opportunity to learn paper piecing from the ground up! Whether you select the Glacier Star or the Mariner’s Compass, you will learn all the basics of Judy Niemeyer’s paper piecing process, with the confidence at class end to tackle any of Judy’s spectacular quilt designs. Under the tutelage of not one, but two, Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructors, you will create your very own quilt top.

The patterns are designed as an introduction to paper-piecing, and each session builds on the skills learned in the prior class, until, by the end of the workshop, students have been taught every technique used in Judy Niemeyer’s paper-piecing patterns. With diligence, students will see lots of progress as they add one technique after the other to complete their quilt. New York Beauty, Lone Star, Flying Geese, and Feathers create the components for Glacier Star. Mariner’s Compass is an absolutely gorgeous quilt with endless possibilities for your color interpretation. The placement of color changes the look of the quilt dramatically. You decide – is it a tree skirt, a wall hanging, or a queen size quilt? Both these patterns are taught exclusively by Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructors.

By participating in this dual workshop, students have the advantage of seeing additional facets of paper piecing than those used in their own quilt, and come away with more knowledge than just the quilt they are focused on. Finish the class sessions ready to begin your next paper piecing project!

JanniLou Creations’ Class Policy We’ve provided a lot of flexibility in the classes offered each term. In all cases, it’s to your advantage to commit to an entire class offering, but we understand all too well about busy schedules, so we try to include some “serial” offerings, too! We encourage early registration as space is limited in our class areas.

Our instructors have a strong commitment to making your class experiences positive learning and fun times. If a minimum number of students do not register, a class may be postponed or cancelled. Shop credit will be given. We basically have a no-cancel policy for most instruction.

At the same time, we ask a commitment from you. Please be prompt for class; times are posted

with the idea that the instructor can begin on time. It’s unfair to the instructor and to students who are prompt to be kept waiting. If your class begins at 9:30a, the Shop doors are open as early as 9:00a so you can set up.

Although verbal commitments are fine, payment must be made to secure your spot in class, and for you to receive supplies lists. We then give you the responsibility for having everything you need for a successful class adventure. You are automatically enrolled upon receipt of class fee (admission) unless notified otherwise.

If you are unable to attend a class, we are happy to issue a Shop credit IF we are notified at least FIVE DAYS PRIOR to Class. It’s important for the

instructors to have your commitment so they can be prepared for you and to insure sufficient training materials. To avoid forfeiture of your registration fee if the FIVE days’ notice cannot be met, you are welcome to send a friend as an ‘understudy.’ Bring basic sewing supplies: pins, needles, pencil (or pen), paper, thread, scissors, ruler, seam ripper — and filled bobbins. But please note: No children, babies, or guests in adult classes. Cell phones must be turned off! And please, do not wear fragrances to class. Many folks are very sensitive to fragrances.

Thanks for your cooperation and assistance in our serving you! – Jan & Lou
