About Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly, in which insulin-
producing beta cells in the pancreas are mistakenly destroyed by the body’s immune system.
People with T1D are dependent on injected or pumped insulin to survive. It has nothing to do with
diet or lifestyle. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. And, at present, there is no cure.
About JDRF and One Night
JDRF is the leading global organization funding T1D research. Our strength lies in our exclusive focus
and singular influence on the worldwide effort to end T1D.
The JDRF Boston Gala is one of the area’s premier charity events, providing a valuable return on
your business investment through endless networking and marketing opportunities. More than 700
guests, including Boston’s prominent philanthropists and business and community leaders, will gather
to help JDRF fund research to cure, treat, and prevent T1D.

Our mission to provide life-changing therapies to the T1D community is being realized globally. In
2018, JDRF supporters raised $108 million for T1D research by attending a Gala, fundraising for One
Walk, or making a cash contribution.
