BRENT LAMBERTFounder & CEO

On my desk is a small book that has been one of my favorite over the years. It’s Bruce Wilkinson’s Secrets of The Vine and in it he highlights John 15:1-5, the story of the vine and the branches. Jesus tells His disciples that He is the vine and they are branches. He goes on to explain that there are four different levels of fruit bearing: NO FRUIT, FRUIT, MORE FRUIT, and MUCH FRUIT. True believers should bear fruit and more fruit and even much fruit.

Ever since I first read this book and especially after I personally met Dr. Wilkinson a few years ago, I’ve often wondered if Birth Choice was bearing MUCH FRUIT. Looking back over three decades of ministry now, we know that even in the first year we opened we began to bear FRUIT. We saw more and more clients turn from abortion and choose life for their unborn babies. As the years went by we began to bear even MORE FRUIT as the number of babies saved from abortion grew higher and higher after adding on the technology of ultrasound to our free services. Now after three decades of Birth Choice ministry we have consistently borne FRUIT and MORE FRUIT as testified by the many women we have seen turn from abortion through our help and support. Yet the question remained: are we bearing MUCH FRUIT? Are we doing everything we can to reach as many abortion vulnerable women possible in West Tennessee? Sadly, the answer was no. There were still too many women in surrounding counties who never come to Birth Choice before going straight to the abortion clinics.

By early last year, we realized that even more would be required of us if Birth Choice was going to be able to go to the next level of fruit bearing. We needed more prayer, more wisdom, more hard work and more funds to step out in faith to reach these abortion-vunerable women. We had to find a way to take pregnancy testing and ultrasound to them if they couldn’t come to our clinics in Jackson and Trenton. The answer to that dilemma was to purchase a Medical Mobile Unit!

For the past year and a half we have been sharing our vision with our supporters and the community at large to raise the $155,000 needed to purchase a bus that would not only convey professionalism with the medical services it offered, but also communicate value and intrinsic worth to each client that would visit our state of the art mobile unit. We are celebrating today with the announcement that we/you have not only raised those needed funds to purchase the bus, but we have actually placed the order so that the custom building process can start!

There were five other pregnancy ministries ahead of us when we placed our order. Obviously many other clinics like Birth Choice desire to bear MUCH FRUIT as well. Hopefully we will have the bus no later than early spring of next year. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously to help us achieve this lifesaving tool. We anticipate a huge ‘harvest’ of fruit before long as many more women turn from abortion to give life to their children.

GRAND TOTAL: $185,180!!!!

2019 ANNUAL FUNDRAISING BANQUET TOTALS ARE IN!

What an incredible blessing! These donations will fund a major part of our annual operating budget for both clinics. We would like to thank all our donors, underwriters, table hosts, and volunteers for making this banquet a success!

At our banquet on April 11th we heard a powerful message from Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation. Ryan shared his story of being conceived in rape and then adopted into a loving Christian family after his mom chose life. His adopted family showed him what true, unconditional love looks like, and that “unintended does not equal unwanted; unwanted does not equal unloved.” Today, Ryan is an adoptive father and an advocate for adoption, saying “adoption unleashes love, hope, and purpose.” Additionally, Ryan advocates for life and some of his campaigns have illustrated the disproportionate amount of abortions among the African American community.

FROM THE HEART OF A VOLUNTEER NURSEGUINDA FLIPPIN Assistant Director of Nursing, Gibson County Office

Eleven years ago, a friend from church asked me if I would like to do ultrasounds for women experiencing crisis pregnancies at Birth Choice. I was excited when I thought that God might use me to make a difference and so my journey began. However, looking back I actually believe that journey began much earlier.

When I was in high school, a godly woman became my mentor and over the years we grew to be close friends. On our last visit together before I was to start college, she shared with me her deepest secret. She had become pregnant while she was in college and she and her boyfriend decided it would be best to terminate the pregnancy. Years later they married and had 3 more children, but her last child died unexpectedly within 24 hours after birth. As she spoke, tears began to fall. She then

told me that she felt the death of that baby was a punishment for having aborted her first child. Two things stand out to me to this day. First, even though God had forgiven her she had not forgiven herself. And second, she intentionally opened those painful wounds to spare me from going down the same path. What love!

Birth Choice is all about the privilege of serving God that always comes with wonderful blessings. Through the technology of ultrasound, He has allowed me to introduce a mother to her baby for the very first time. I consider that a sacred moment. Every time a mother falls in love with that tiny gray image on the screen it is priceless. I thank God that He has allowed me to be a part of this ministry. In some way, I hope I am honoring my friend by sharing a path of life with other women.

FROM THE HEART OF A VOLUNTEER ADVOCATEMARGIE CLEMENTClient Advocate

I joined the Birth Choice family in October of 2000. Over the nineteen years I’ve served here, I have worn many hats. I have been a Client Advocate, a receptionist, a teacher and a special consultant for any mom who might be thinking about making an adoption plan for her baby. You see, I’m both an adopted child and a birth mother. I made an adoption plan for my own baby girl many years ago. As a result God has given me a passion for helping women who are struggling with this big decision. What a wonderful alternative to abortion!

A HUGE THANK-YOU TO UNION UNIVERSITY!

Because I love working with pregnant moms and since every year Birth Choice deals with hundreds of moms-to-be, all in very different situations, I felt this was a great match. God has blessed my heart through these interactions and it has made my time as a volunteer at Birth Choice very rewarding.

FROM THE HEARTS OF OUR CLIENTS

“I am grateful for everything. I saw the heart beat and that changed everything.” This abortion-minded client chose life for her baby.

“My advocate and also the nurse were very nice - I mean the nicest! On a scale of 0 - 10, they were a 10!”“Actually seeing the baby [on ultrasound] changed my decision. Everyone was so genuine and nice.” This woman chose life!

When our clients leave our office they are asked to fill out an exit survey. These are several comments they shared:

“I almost cried seeing my baby’s heartbeat. [The ultrasound] was my favorite part.”

“Seeing my baby move inside of me really put a smile on my face…. I liked everything about the staff. They give you good reasons to become a good parent.”

This abortion-minded client chose life for her baby.

A HUGE THANK-YOU TO UNION UNIVERSITY!

Thank you Union University for choosing Birth Choice for your “United in Giving” Campaign! So far, Union has raised $5,400 through fundraisers like their basketball game fundraiser, faculty “Blue Jean Day at The U” fundraiser, and employee payroll deductions.

With their baby shower campaign, staff and faculty donated a huge amount of baby items, including pacifiers, sippy cups, diapers and wipes, baby formula, and clothes, only part of which is shown in this picture!

THANK YOU BARNABAS MEN’S MINISTRYWe are so very grateful to a group of men from First Baptist Church who volunteered to come alongside Birth Choice to construct a much needed storage shed for us. In the book of Acts, Paul’s fellow missionary, Barnabas lived up to his name, “Son of Encouragement”. Obviously the

Barnabas Men’s Ministry is a well-named group! They truly were an encouragement to our ministry as they joyfully went about their labor of love.

Being the father of a daughter is tough, especially as the time passes and our little girls slowly grow into young women. As good fathers it is vitally important that we do everything in our power to keep our hearts open and tender toward our daughters. We must look for opportunities to develop and strengthen those life-long ties that bind us.

With this in mind, I would like to invite all of you who are fathers with daughters to join me for a very special evening. On Saturday, June 15th Birth Choice will be hosting our fourth annual Father Daughter Ball. This will be an evening of encouragement for dads and an opportunity to celebrate the gifts who are our daughters.

FROM THE HEART OF A PASTOR

ROGER STACY,ASSOCIATIONAL MISSIONARYGibson Baptist Association

There are three primary reasons I am passionate about taking a bold stand against abortion: My belief that God is the giver of life, the devastation that abortion brings to women and families, and the dignity and value of every person.

My conviction that abortion is wrong and life is precious is based on my belief that God is the author and giver of life. Throughout my ministry I have counseled pregnant young women who have sought my help to choose life, not abortion. I know the devastation this choice will bring to them not only now, but for years to come until they find true forgiveness in Christ.

Having a grandson who was born three months premature and watching him struggle to survive has served to deepen my conviction that every person has value, worth, and dignity. God has never given a woman or a man the right to terminate life that only He can create.

I have served and continue to serve on non-profit boards in our area, however no other ministry deals with the most fundamental of rights - the right to be born and live - except Birth Choice. The question is, how can we not support Birth Choice - a ministry seeking to save babies and save mothers from the devastation of abortion? I do not believe we have moral authority as ministers and churches to speak to the issue of abortion if we are not willing to take a stand and financially support ministries dedicated to saving the lives of precious babies.

Thank you, Birth Choice, for helping my mommy!

A BIRTH CHOICE CLIENT SAID THIS AFTER HER ULTRASOUND: “I thought about abortion a few times, but seeing [my baby] moving around, how could I? I loved the way they made me feel important. They talked to me and listened…[they] also

encouraged me and made me feel that everything would be okay….”
