Images of the Mind Members Mixed Media Exhibition 5th November – 20th December 2014 All members mixed media exhibitions are a wonderful surprise, the registration forms come in with the title and media but you never quite know what the piece is going to look like until it finally arrives on the day of installation. This year was no exception as you can see by the photo’s opposite, we have an exciting mix of Acrylic, oil, watercolour, textile, pottery and photography. Congratulations to Sue Carruthers, Tina Rouvray and Louise Stranner who have sold some pieces already. A wonderful effort by everyone we have 62 pieces on display. Reception Desk Volunteers It is hard to believe that Another year is almost over. On the whole is has been a very successful one for the volunteers. We have had very few vacancies due to the willingness of everyone putting up their hands to help at the last minute. It has been very exciting to welcome so many new and capable volunteers and there are more who will join us in the New Year. Finding volunteers can be challenging and this year has been particularly good. We hope you will stay with us for a long time. Unfortunately we did see some of our volunteers move on and some have provided endless years of service. No matter how long your time with us was it helps to keep the gallery open. Or new committee is proving to be what President Phil wanted it to be, a fun and enjoyable time. It has been negligent of me not to comment that Dayle actually spends hours doing the lay out of the roster. His previous life as a project manager means that he does a brilliant job. Thank you Dayle also for putting up with my nervy turns when I think things are about to fall about around me. Also the support of the other committee members has been enormous and to Joanna who unfortunately moved on but continues to offer support. I hope everyone has a happy Christmas and I look forward to seeing you at the Christmas gathering and to working with you in the New Year.

“From the trenches”
7th January 2015 – 15th February 2015 When typing this “From The Trenches” will be just over 4 weeks away, slightly daunting, as I still have to finish one of my pieces and type up statements, labels, lists as well as some pages of my Grandfathers World War 1 diary which forms part of my work.
We have purchased over 200 Red Poppies which I am hoping will become part of our “Wall of
Rememberance”. I have also “by kind favor” of Mrs. Iris
Skinner been loaned a World War 1 Army Uniform and a World War 1 nurses uniform. Unfortunately we were not successful with our application for a grant from the Queensland Government, I still intend to have a booklet printed, I think this a very important exhibition and should have some record printed. The stories and inspiration that will come from this exhibition deserves to be recognized and to have a permanent legacy. The exhibition will open to the public on Wednesday 7th January 2015 with the official opening on Saturday 10th January 2015.
