Financial Aid eligibility is based on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
How SCC measures Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

attempted units. Attempt less than 150% of units
required for a degree or certificate.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Status
Good Standing Must maintain Cumulative 2.0 GPA and 67% PCT every semester.
Warning
If you did not meet a Cumulative 2.0 GPA or 67% progress completion for one semester, you will be placed in “WARNING” status.
Dismissed
If you fail to meet the SAP requirements for 2 consecutive semesters, you WILL be DISMISSED.
Probation
If your GPA/PCT appeal is APPROVED, you will continue on probation until your Cumulative GPA & PCT increase.
If your MTF appeal is approved, you will continue on probation until you
complete units approved.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Dismissal Reasons:
GPA/Percentage Maximum Timeframe
IMPORTANT Students may be dismissed for both
GPA/Percentage, AND Maximum Timeframe. Students may be dismissed one term
for one reason, and a following term for a different reason.

As of 2016-2017 academic year, students must maintain: Maintain a 2.0 GPA. Must pass 50% or more of total attempted units. Any combination of 2 primary consecutive terms (Fall and
Spring) will result in loss of fee waiver eligibility. Students will have to go through an appeal process with
Admissions & Records to reinstate your BOG eligibility.
Admissions and Records will notify students within 30 days of the end of each term if you are placed in Academic Probation.
NOTE
*** Financial Aid and Admissions measure SAP differently.
*** Students may be dismissed from
Admissions, Financial Aid, or both.

Dismissed for Maximum Timeframe
You have attempted 150% of units
required for a degree or certificate program.
This is usually equivalent to completing 90 units.
Example: If your degree/certificate program requires 50 units, 150% of 50 units would be 75 units.
-OR- If your degree/certificate program requires 30 units, 150% of 30 units would be 45 units.
What is “Total Attempted Units”?
Total Attempted units are: 1. All units at SCC:
Up to 30 remedial units of coursework may be deducted from the total units attempted.
