About the Composer

Paul Carey studied composition with Alfred Blatter, Ben Johnston,and Eugene Kurtz at the University of Illinois. His graduate studieswere at Yale University where he studied with David Mott.

Mr. Carey’s Rise Up, Emma Lazarus was the winner of The NewYork Treble Singers 2003 composition competition. Esta Tarde, MiBien (This Evening, My Love) was the winner of the 2004Cambridge Madrigal Singers International CompositionCompetition.
