SUMMER AT TOBIN 2017 Special Visitors and Events *All field trips are subject to change.* Belknap Pool in Framingham Mondays (7/10 – 8/14) Belknap Pool features a main swimming pool, a 12” wading pool, a children's playground with swings and jungle gym, a beach volleyball court, basketball court, and restrooms/changing areas. Children of all ages enjoy relaxation around the pool on the lawn, choosing to play in the bright sun or doze in the shade provided by the surrounding oaks. Thursday, July 13 th Big Joe the Storyteller Big Joe loves folktales, fairytales, and some classic tales, as well. His stories are many things, but the one thing they will never be is boring! Big Joe will delight us with amazing stories told with his box of puppets. Hale Reservation in Westwood Every Wednesday & Every Friday (7/10 – 8/18) Situated on 1,100 acres of unspoiled woodlands, winding streams, extensive hiking trails and scenic ponds, Hale Day Camp offers the perfect backdrop for a summer of outdoor exploration and learning. Tuesday, July 18 th Mad Science of Greater Boston The Mad Science group will visit Tobin and put on a highly interactive show, with fascinating science demonstrations such as chemical reactions, bubbling potions or an airpressure powered hovercraft! Thursday, July 20 th EcoTarium in Worcester The EcoTarium is a unique indoor/outdoor museum, set in an urban oasis. The EcoTarium offers a chance to walk through the treetops, take a thrilling multimedia journey through the galaxy at a digital planetarium, meet wildlife, stroll nature trails, and get handson with exhibits.  Tuesday,  August  2nd  Pumpernickel  Puppets  

With  colorful  puppet  characters,  audience  participation,  live  voices  and  sounds  effects,  and  a  behind-­‐the-­‐scenes  demonstration  at  the  

end,  the  Pumpernickel  Puppets  are  sure  to  entertain.  Thursday,  August  4th  Jojo  the  Magician  

Jojo  is  a  15-­‐year-­‐old  magician  that  has  performed  for  over  150  venues  and  a  variety  of  age  groups.  He  will  be  doing  some  terrific  

magic  tricks  that  are  sure  to  entertain  everyone!  Tuesday,  August  8th  Franklin  Park  Zoo  

At  Franklin  Park  Zoo,  we  will  experience  hundreds  of  exotic  animal  species  from  around  the  world!  We  will  explore  the  wonders  of  a  

tropical  rainforest,  the  Australian  outback,  or  the  African  savannah  in  one  of  the  many  exhibit  areas.    

Tuesday,  August  15th  New  England  Aquarium  The  Aquarium  has  just  completed  a  renovation  that  has  renewed  its  main  building  to  the  core.  The  iconic  Giant  Ocean  Tank  has  undergone  a  top-­‐to-­‐bottom,  transformation.  We  will  learn  all  

about  the  changed  when  we  visit.    Thursday,  August  18th  Traveling  Tide  Pools  

The  New  England  Aquarium  is  sending  two  program  educators  and  lots  of  fun  tide  pool  animals  for  your  children  to  learn  about,  see  

and  touch.      Tuesday,  August  22nd  Field  Day  with  Needham  

We  will  host  a  field  day  for  our  Needham  Afterschool  friends.  We’ll  show  off  our  soccer,  basketball,  and  track  skills!  

Wednesday,  August  23rd  Tour  of  Fenway  Park  Fenway  Park  is  a  place  where  dreams  are  made,  traditions  are  

celebrated  and  baseball  is  forever.  We  will  visit  Pesky’s  Pole  and  sit  atop  the  Green  Monster.  

Thursday,  August  24th  Patriots  Hall  of  Fame  Tour  We  will  take  a  trip  to  Foxboro  and  check  out  the  fun  and  

interactive  Patriots  Hall  of  Fame  where  we  will  learn  about  the  history  of  the  Championship  team.  Tuesday,  August  29th  Field  Trip  to    

Downtown  Natick  We  will  take  a  bus  trip  to  the  common,  where  we  will  enjoy  a  

picnic  lunch  and  an  ice  cream  treat.
