SAS Installation Instructions (32 and 64-bit)

NOTE: These instructions are for SAS 9.3, although it should be largely the same for SAS 9.4 except steps 6b and 13 may not occur, and the addition of step 12b Please ensure that you are using an account with Administrator rights to the computer. 1. If you are installing from a DVD, insert Disc 1 and double click the disc icon in My Computer, and launch setup if you are installing from the Software Share, you should have received instructions which directs you to open the Setup file.

2. Select the desired language for installation. Click OK

3. Choose Install SAS Software Click Next

4. When you are prompted for an installation location, make sure SAS Home is set to: C:\Program Files\SASHome Click Next

5. Ensure that Install SAS Foundation and Related Software is selected. Click Next

6. The Products to install drop down menu should be left as SAS Foundation and related software If you are installing on a 64-bit computer, go to step 6b. If you are installing on a 32-bit computer, go to step 7. Click Next

For 64-bit installations only. This step may not occur for SAS 9.4 6b. Select 64-bit Native Mode. Click Next

7. Leave the default options selected Click Next

8. If by default the installer picks up the license information, it will be displayed similar to the screenshot on the right. If the box at the bottom under “Details of the selected SAS installation data file:” is blank, click the Browse button and go to step 9. If the box is not blank, click Next and go to step 11.

9. Navigate to the sid_files folder on the disc 1 of the DVD set (if you are installing from a DVD) or from the Software share folder (if you are installing from the Software share).

10. In this folder, there is a text file which name begins with “SAS” followed by the version number, then other numbers and characters relating to the license. Select this file and it will return you to the screenshot in step 8, to which you click Next

11. At the language selection, choose the languages which you will most likely use. Click Next

12. Select the required language from the drop down box or leave as default. Click Next

This step will only occur for SAS 9.4 12b. Make your preferred selection and click Next.

This step may not occur for SAS 9.4 13. Leave the default option to use the recommended Java Runtime Environment. Click Next

14. Click Next

15. The system will be checked to ensure it is compatible with SAS. If you receive a prompt during this process advising of a Pending Reboot go to step 15b. Otherwise, click Next when the check is completed.

15b. During the system check, your computer may need to be restarted (you will need to start the installation process again).

16. Begin the deployment of SAS files by clicking the Start button. Once completed, click Next

17. During installation, you will be prompted to insert one of the other discs. This may occur multiple times during installation, depending on the languages chosen to be installed and other factors related to the install.

18. Ensure Do Not Send is selected. Click Next

19. Click Finish
