    Network your customers and suppliers

Global competition and changing patterns of consumption are

presenting companies with new challenges for their logistics

processes. Procurement processes are often non-standar-

dized. Consolidated information about purchasing volumes is

often lacking, as are regulated access options to controlling

data. The number of involved partners is also increasing: linear

logistic chains are transforming themselves into logistics net-

works that connect trading partners at multiple levels and which

require the smooth flow of information between all stakeholders.

This situation therefore requires the negotiated management

of logistics processes between customers and suppliers.

SAP Supply Network Collaboration (SNC) makes it simple for

businesses to integrate suppliers into inter-company logistics

networks, to plan needs and capacities together, to process

orders and delivery requests, and to negotiate quotations and

demand as a shared activity. The application supports the

electronic exchange of data between suppliers and contract

    manufacturers.

Lower your transaction costsSeamless collaboration over the entire logistics network naturally

does more than simply optimize procurement processes. It also

strengthens relationships with suppliers and that applies to

partnerships with suppliers of any size. A further advantage:

Supply Network Collaboration also works to help you in actively

pursuing your CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility): it enables

you to establish a close partnership with your suppliers and

customers, and to work on ensuring the long-term sustainabi-

    lity of these partnerships.

SNC can be deployed in many different configurations: the

application can be used independently on the customer and

supplier side, or seamlessly integrated into backend solutions

from SAP or other system providers. In addition, SNC can also

be used as a shared application in a hosting environment. Sup-

pliers can utilize exception-driven processes to view the status

of material at customer sites, whereby automatically-initiated

warning notifications enable a rapid response to falling

    stock levels.

This largely replaces traditional communication channels utili-

zing phone, fax and email, thus lowering transaction costs.

Even smaller partners with no EDI infrastructure can partici-

pate in the collaborative process: the only equipment needed

is Internet access and a web browser. Depending on the sce-

nario, this enables the specific collaboration of suppliers and

    customers.

    Transparency and efficiency during interaction

SAP SNC synchronizes not only inputs but also demand bet-

ween the companies involved, in order to cater to inter-com-

pany dependencies. Where short-term changes occur in theprocurement process, transparency, collaboration and analy-

sis systems ensure that the involved companies respond both

immediately and efficiently. The real-time data can also be

used to monitor strategic and operative goals. An analysis of

the shared collaborative work can thus help to recognize the

need for necessary adjustments and implement these in

    good time.

You decide which logistics and production data will be made

accessible to the shared supplier and/or customer collabora-

tion system. Business processes supplied by SAP SNC pro-

vide an optimized collaboration platform that can increase the

performance and power of your logistics.
