he theme o the Chicago Congress was Peace, Loveand Understandinga highly topical subject given thecontroversial wars being waged in the Middle East.

A time when countries and cultures around the worldneeded to come together.

What better way to explore the theme o Peace, Loveand Understanding than to be given a blank canvas?

Especially when that canvas is a Chuck Taylor shoe romConversethe ultimate American icon. Thanks to the generosity

o the olks at Converse, designers were each given a white Chuck as part o a distinctly American activity to capture their personalinterpretation o the theme. Given a scant 60 minutes to design,the results o the exercise were nothing short o extraordinary.

As youll see, what was once a white canvas is now a work o art.78 works o art to be exact. All o which have been care ully curatedand collected in this commemorative book. As you fip through the

ollowing pages, it will hope ully provide a sense o the wonder ulcreative spirit o the AGI Congress. Who knows? Perhaps itwill even stir a ew eelings o peace, love and yes, understanding.
