Situated on the south coast of NSW midway between Melbourne and Sydney, Merimbula is the hub of the Sapphire Coast.
It boasts magnificent sapphire blue waters rolling onto endless stretches of golden beaches with adjacent walking tracks through the many state forests and national parks.
The temperate climate of the region ensures year-round outdoor activities. Enjoy the superb golf courses, bush walking, diving and lake, sea and reef fishing. Dolphin watching and whale watching (in season) are popular activities aboard charter and cruise vessels.
Or simply sample the temptations on offer at the many cafes, restaurants and clubs that Merimbula has to offer... truly a “Place for All Seasons”.
With its lakes and beaches, and surrounded by sparkling blue water, Merimbula is 26kms north of Eden at the top end of the Ben Boyd National Park. Whether you love sailboarding, swimming or just messing around in boats, there’s somewhere to indulge your favourite water sport.
Cruise boats and fishing trips ply the lake daily. Out on Merimbula Point, a fishing platform juts into deep water where fish seem to congregate. Even if they’re not biting, the view across Merimbula Bay to Pambula is spectacular. Occasionally dolphins frolic in the bay below Merimbula Aquarium, which is stocked with an array of marine life, from seahorses to brightly coloured fish, all found locally.
Merimbula is famous for its rock oysters and they don’t come fresher (or cheaper) than direct from the growers whose sheds dot the lakes. Children love Merimbula’s Magic Mountain and Yellowpinch Wildlife Park with its friendly wombats, wallabies and lorikeets. The forests and dairies of the hinterland should also be explored.
