để dự thi chứng chỉ B tiếng Anh người học cần phải học đủ 41 bài từ Unit 41 đến Unit 80 sách STREAMLINE 2 (Connections) và 45 bài từ Unit 1 đến Unit 45 sách STREAMLINE 3 (Destinations) của Bernard Hartley và Peter Viney. Tuy vậy, nếu các bạn đã có chứng chỉ A thì chỉ cần học thêm 400 tiết có chất lượng theo nhiều chương trình khác nhau vẫn có thể đạt được kết quả Một học sinh học hết chương trình tiếng Anh hệ 12 phổ thông với học lực môn tiếng Anh vào loại khá thì có thể dự thi để lấy chứng chỉ B tiếng Anh do sở Giáo dục Đào tạo tổ chức Nhưng để có kết quả tốt trong các kỳ thi, các bạn nên ôn tập, làm quen với một số đề thi và hướng dẫn cách làm bài thi viết, luyện nghe hiểu và trả lời các câu hỏi vấn đáp theo chương trình thi mà bạn đã lựa chọn

Để giúp các bạn có tư liệu tham khảo, luyện tập và làm quen với kỳ thi chứng chỉ B tiếng Anh do Sở Giáo dục - Đào tạo TP Hồ Chí Minh tổ chức, chúng tôi biên soạn cuốn sách này. Sách gồm có 5 phần:

Phần I: HƯỚNG DẪN THỦ TỤC DỰ THI

Nếu bạn là học sinh đang theo học tại các trường ngoại ngữ trực thuộc Sở Giáo dục - Đào tạo TP. Hồ Chí Minh thì liên hệ tại văn phòng nhà trường khoảng một tháng trước ngày dự thi (theo lịch) để được hướng dẫn làm hồ sơ dự thi. Nhà trường sẽ nhận và tập hợp hồ sơ của thí sinh sau đó đem nộp theo thời hạn quy định. Nhưng nếu bạn là thí sinh tự do hoặc muốn tự mình nộp hồ sơ dự thi thì đến trung tâm ngoại ngữ của Sở Giáo dục - Đào tạo TP. Hồ Chí Minh số 94 Trần Quang Khải Q.1 để liên hệ nộp hồ sơ và lệ phí dự thi.

Hồ sơ gồm có:- 01 phiếu thí sinh.

- 01 đơn xin dự thi.- 01 bản sao chứng chỉ A.- 03 tấm ảnh 3x4Tất cả các hồ sơ phải nộp chậm nhất là trước 15 ngày so với ngày

tổ chức thi. Khoảng 5 ngày trước ngày thi, thí sinh đến nơi nộp đơn dự thi để nhận phiếu thí sinh, biết nơi thi, phòng thi, số báo danh và ngày giờ thi. Đến ngày thi thí sinh phải có mặt tại hội đồng thi đúng giờ quy định và mang theo phiếu thí sinh. Khoảng 10 ngày sau ngày dự thi, thí sinh đến nơi đã nộp đơn dự thi để xem kết quả. Sau một tháng, các thí sinh đậu mang phiếu thi sinh đến nơi nộp đơn dự thi để lãnh chứng chỉ.

Lưu ý: Thí sinh dự thi chứng chỉ B tiếng Anh phải thi 3 môn: Viết, Nghe hiểu và Vấn đáp trong một buổi, nhưng điểm thi từng môn chấm riêng. Thí sinh chỉ đạt kết quả đậu khi cả 3 môn đều từ 5 điểm trở lên. Nếu có một môn dưới 5 thì không đậu. Nhưng được lưu điểm của môn đã đạt từ 5 trở lên. Đến kỳ thi kế tiếp thí sinh chỉ thi lại môn dưới 5 của kỳ thi trướ C. Điểm bảo lưu chỉ có giá trị trong kỳ thi kế tiếp. Để được bảo lưu, thí sinh cần ghi đầy đủ điểm số các môn vào phiếu thi sinh và dùng kết quả đó để ghi đầy đủ vào đơn xin dự thi của kỳ tiếp theo (ghi đủ điểm thi vấn đáp và thi viết, số báo danh, phòng thi, nơi thi của kỳ thi trước)

1. TENSESI: SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

Subject + V (3rd person, singular)- Simple Present is used to indicate a regular or habitual action Ex: Markusually walks to school.

Note: This tense isusually not used to indicate present time. However, it is used to indicate present time (now) with the following stative verbs:

- The present continuous is used to indicate present time (with all but the stative verbs listed previously)

III. SIMPLE PAST TENSESubject + V2/V – ed-The Simple Past is used for a complete action that happened at one specific time in the past.Ex: George cooked dinner for his family Saturday night

IV. PAST CONTINUOUS TENSESubject + Was/Were + V-ing- It is used to indicate an action which was occurring at some specific time in the past.Ex: What were you doing at one o’clock this afternoon?- It is used to indicate an action which was occurring in the past and was interrupted by another action.Ex: Martha was watching television when Mark came home.- It is used to indicate two actions occurring at the some time in the past.

Ex: While John was reading a book. Martha was watching television.V.PRESENT PERFECT TENSESubject + Have/Has + V3 /V-ed- It is used to indicate an action that happened at an indefinite time in the past. Ex: John has traveled around the world. (We don't know when)- It is used to indicate an action that happened more than once in the past. Ex: George has seen this movie three times.- It is used to indicate an action that began in the past and is still occurring in rse present.Ex: John has lived in the same house for twenty years. (He still lives there). John has lived in the same house since 1977. (He still lives there).* For /Since: - use For + duration of time: for 5 years, for 10 minutes,…

- use Since + beginning time: since January, since 5 o’clock,…

* Aready /Yet: The adverbs Already and Yet areUsed to indicate that something is r.appened (or hasn’t happened) at an unspecified time in the past. These rbs are oftenUsed with the Present Perfect.

VI. PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSESubject + has /have + been + V-ing- It is used to indicate an action which began before the moment of speaking and continues into it or up to it.

Ex: He said he was in town and wanted to see me. That was a couple of hours ago and 1 have been waiting ever since.- It is used to indicate an action which was in progress quite recently and its effect tells on the present situation in some way

Ex: Don’t tell your mother what I have been sayingVII. PAST PERFECT TENSESubject + had + V-3 /V-ed - It is used to indicate an action that happened before another action in the past; thereusually are two actions in the sentence.

Ex: John had gone to the store before he went home- It is used to indicate a state which continued for a time in the past but stopped before now.

Ex: Tom had lived in New York for ten years before he moved to California.VIII. PAST PERFECT CONTINOUS TENSESubject + had + been + V-ing

- It is used to indicate an action which began before a given past moment and continued into it or up to it.

Ex: She suddenly realized that it was now completely dark and that she had been walking for a long while,

- It is used to indicate an action which was in progress just before a given past moment and its effect tells on the past situation in some way

Ex: Adeline rose from the chair in which she had been sittingIX. SIMPLE FUTURE TENSESubject + Will /Shall + InfinitiveThe Simple Future Tense may be used to indicate:- a single point action that will be completed in the future Ex: I know I'm right, and one of these days you’ll realize it

- It is used to express an action accomplished before a given future moment which isusually expressed by-an adverbial modifier

4. PASSIVE VOICEA sentence can be either in the active or passive voice, in an

“active” sentene, the subject performs the action. In a “passive” sentence, the subject receives the action. To make an active sentence into a passive sentence, follow these steps:

1. Place the complement of the active sentence at the beginning of the passive one.

2. If there are any auxilaries in the active sentence, place them immediately after the new subject agreeing in number with the subject.

3. Insert the verb “be” after the auxilary or auxilaries in the same form as the main verb in the active sentence.

4. Place the main verb from the active sentence after the auxilaries and “be” in the Past participle.

5. Place the subject of the active sentence after the verb in the passive nee preceded by the preposition “by (This can be eliminated completely if it is not important or is understood).

England’s highest main-line railway station hangs on to life by a thread: deserted and unmanned since it was officially closed in 1970. Dent, situated high in the hills of Yorkshire, wakes up on six summer weekends each year, when a special charter train unloads walkers, sightseers and people who simply want to catch a train from the highest station to its platforms.

Water on the earth is being recycled continuously in a process known as the hydrologic cycle. Sally Ride, American’s spacewoman, doesn’t look very different from a lot of other American professional women. Sequoyah was a young Cherokee Indian, son of a white trader and an Indian woman. After inventing dynamite. Swedish-born Alfred Nobel became a very rich man. However, he foresaw its universally destructive powers too late. After inventing dynamite, Swedish - born Alfred Nobel became a very rich man. However, he foresaw its universally destmctive powers too late.
